    Thank you two for clearing that up! It's very useful!! As an American, having these sorts of things broken down, and knowing that what you both teach is defined by the place you live really helps me to discern what I have here where I live in the US... And I just adore the both of you. You are Anglesey treasures!!

    My aunt started as a druid in the sixties back on the west coast, and then when she came over to the East Coast she became more involved with Wicca, and she was high enough in both that when she died and we had her Memorial we had to have both a Druid and a Wiccan Priestess do the ceremony

    I love that both of you bring both traditions together. I don't identify as a witch, but I'm sure some of the things I do in my personal practice are a little witchy. I also love hearing both of you speak. After hearing Kristoffer talking about Annwfn and the tarot at ECG in 2018, I decided the Welsh accent is the best. Hopefully, next time I see Kristoffer, I will be able to say more than 'Y draig yn gweithio yn y swyddfa!'

    Ahh, the fog rolls in on the NW pacific here in the US like that. So beautiful. I’d look out my childhood window above the beach and the fog literally fell right under my window. It was magical.

    Diolch!!! I have a Hiraeth for Wales and to be able to see the stones and ground and sea is so wonderful!!! I don't know exactly where I belong, but I am inspired by nature, Mother Earth, the Mabinogion, Merlin, my ancestors, the language and that magical Awen I feel strongly when I am in nature..

    The first time I visited Cymru, I looked out the window the next morning and saw an entire dragon composed of mist. The land is so magical.

    I am so glad I can do both. I am a witch, but druidry has been calling me and I finally just took the leap to join OBOD…but then the fear set in that I was somehow not allowed to do both. (Bear in mind, I was raised Fundie in the States so I am used to there being tons of rules being placed on me…) I really needed this video today because I was starting to panic.

    Lovely video! I'm a huge fan of both of you! To add to the topic of authenticity and antiquity, it has been in conversation in some Druid orders for almost a decade now. It was one of the presentation topics for OBOD's 50th anniversary back in June of 2014. Another Druid order where it is a common topic is AODA. Another topic we love in AODA is wildcrafting spirituality to develop a connection to the land on which we live rather than focusing on the landscapes of far-off places. I wish more Druid groups were talking about this instead of trying to push a false history and I LOVE that witch circles are also having these conversations. It's so important for us as modern people navigating and participating in living traditions.

    This is great. I've been laughed at here on YT for describing myself as a practising modern druid and my response was very similar to Kristoffer's. There are many different expressions of Druidry and mine is more philosophical, my group includes members of other religions such as Wicca, Christianity and Buddhism and we work openly within our local community, rather than meeting in private. So while it is true we're drawing on the same culture for inspiration, Druidry performs a different function from Witchcraft.

    • @noblethoughts4500
      @noblethoughts4500 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This seems such a useful way of looking at it. Could you please say more about the different functions performed? Thank you!

    • @timflatus
      @timflatus ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@noblethoughts4500 that's difficult to say in a single comment. Certainly druidry tends more towards mysticism and is less concerned with spell-casting. In my experience Druids do more education and Eldership in the community. Both religions do hatches, matches and dispatches. I may do a video on this myself as it deserves a deeper dive.

    it interesting in comparison because lots of witchcraft practices are rooted in Celtic folk magic that carried on into the Christian era and then were persecuted by the church as a method of religious reform so if the welsh druids seem witchy its because they have similar historical roots. Very fascinating I've been studying the Celtic peoples for some time now and this gives me a wonderful new perspective and food for thought.

    Siwmae, hmm, witches and druids!? Yeah, that's a very modern distinction. If you'll pardon the clumsy metaphors, the waters of awen can be drunk in many different ways, from your hands, a ladle, a cup, silver goblet or a golden chalice. It's the water not the name nor nature of the vessel that matters. Or if you prefer, a rose by any other name...
    Ynys Môn, iconic, tragic, a sever winter cut back, but the roots held and now the winter is over the new spring growth goes its own way. It was a long winter.
    23&me was mentioned, hmm, fiver says it's haplogroup R1a/b...
    I'm enjoying the content, lol, the number of times I've argued it's NOT sa-waine, lol!

    I find it perculiar when people expect druids and/or folk practitioners practises to be the same as the celts in antiquity. Yes we want to visit the knowledge of the past.. but even their practise would've developed from a source too?? Im not a lolo fan but im learning to look at him as an inventor of practising rather than a charleton. Like spells are created aren't they..

    I have difficulty associating myself as a witch, and my Goddess guide Morrigan said no to being a Druid. I do not do spells, though I do like performing ceremonies for holidays. Is there a balance?

    Hi Mhara, I am fairly new to your channel, and was wondering why you don't like the use of "Shamanistic practices" as an expression? Do you consider Shamanic practices or practitioners as something negative, or is it just so vastly different from Druidry and Witchcraft, that you don't like mixing them? I hope this makes any sense at all. And sorry if I misunderstood. Thanks in advance!
