    A great product from a great American company. My house was built in the 1960s and had Lomanco Turbines when I bought it so I am not sure how old they were. The bearing began to squeak in 2011 and when I contacted them to ask where to buy replacement parts they shipped a new turbine at no charge. Replacing the old one was a simple job. Yes this is a product I would recommend!

    I have 4 of these units installed on my home and they do work. The attic temp is much lower and any moisture is vented, the only problem we have had is some small leaks which we placed drip pans to catch.

    I have four turtle vents on my roof currently. Do I have to replace all with WhirlyBirds, or can I "mix and match"? Or should I just leave the turtle vents and install the WhirlyBirds in addition to them?

    • @Lomanco
      @Lomanco  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's okay to add ventilation to your existing system. However, only add the SAME TYPE OF EXHAUST ventilation as your home currently has installed - do not mix exhaust products on the same common attic space. If Whirlybirds® exists, add Whirlybirds®, if roof louvers exist, add roof louvers.
      Keep in mind you want to install all exhaust ventilation at the SAME HEIGHT within a common attic area.
      Also, do not overlook the intake part of the system. A BALANCED SYSTEM must have 50% exhaust and 50% intake. If you add exhaust ventilation, make sure you have at least 50% of the ventilation located in the soffit.

    Please explain: I have two Wind turbines on the roof are similar to Lomanco products, can rain and water get into WhirlyBird or Wind Turbine?

    • @Lomanco
      @Lomanco  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When turbines are properly installed with a balanced system of intake and exhaust, they should not allow any weather infiltration.
      The turbine has twenty-one (21) air-foil curved vanes with rolled edges to deflect water. The rolled edges are designed to force the water to run down the vanes & not into the attic. Air-foil means a body designed to provide a desired reaction force when in motion relative to the surrounding area. To summarize, the turbine should be turning at all times when there is outside air movement.
      The centrifugal force of the turbine also prevents leakage. Centrifugal force is the force that tends to impel a thing or parts of a thing, such as rain, outward from a center of rotation, such as the bearing/shaft assembly in the turbine.
      It is important that the unit be sealed with roofing cement around all seams, nails, and under the flashing. The part of the flashing that is facing the roof peak should be installed underneath the shingles and the bottom part should be overlapping the shingles. Sealing in this manner prevents water from entering the attic under the flashing.

    I just have a few questions about your product. Is there a difference in performance between the BIB and the BEB turbines? Is the BEB made to withstand higher winds? I’m interested in in getting a Lomanco turbine but don’t know which one to purchase.

    • @Lomanco
      @Lomanco  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The internally BIB and externally BEB braced turbines both have the same internal construction. The externally braced turbines have 3 braces that surround the outside of the turbine. That is the only difference between the two models. One is not stronger or better in any way than the other. They both come with our Forever Guarantee.

    I think these turbine vents are really ugly even when they work properly. Driving around in my neighborhood, I have seen at least 6 or 8 houses where it looks like their round turbine vent has become dislodged from its original installation and those round vents are just dangling sideways off of the vertical pipe. So just the metal tube sticks up from the roof and it looks like the round turbine vent is only being held onto the side of the tube by one or two screws or nails.
    We get wind gusts up to 60 or 70 MPH here every year, so perhaps the wind is blowing all these turbine vents off of their pipe tubes? How are these turbine vents becoming detached from their tubes in my neighborhood?? What happens to these homes' turbine vent tubes when their top turbine gets detached and just dangles on the side of the tube? Does that mean there is a big open space for rain and snow to fall straight into their attics?? A lot of these houses with their detached turbine vents have been like that for several years now. These are all two-story houses, so these homeowners cannot even see their damaged roof turbines from their front or back yard because you only notice the detached turbines if you look at these roofs from a distance away.

      Hello Claire, and thank you for your interest in Lomanco Vents.
      While there are many manufacturers of turbine ventilators, there is a big difference in product design and quality. The problems you mention above simply do not happen with properly installed Lomanco Whirlybird® turbine ventilators.
      Lomanco is the home of the one and only Whirlybird® turbine vent. We use only the finest quality, American-made bearings. Other turbines may skimp on bearing quality, but at Lomanco, we know that bearings are the heart of the turbine. Because of the high-quality material used in Lomanco Whirlybirds, they are backed by the best guarantee in the business - they are guaranteed forever. If a turbine fails for structural or mechanical reasons, we will replace it. The warranty is even transferred from the original owner to subsequent owners.
      Another feature that makes Lomanco turbines different is that the interior of our turbines is all rust-free aluminum. The interior of our turbines contain no plastic or galvanized components like some of our competitors. Other distinguishing features are factory applied baked on paint, riveting at every connection, and 21 air-foil curved vanes.
      The Lomanco Whirlybird® is Miami_Dade approved. The wind speed for Miami-Dade testing goes up to 110 MPH
      I can answer your question that if a turbine head is removed there is an open hole straight into the attic.

      Thanks you for your interest in Lomanco products. Lomanco warranties the Whirlybird due to defects due to workmanship, parts, or mechanical failure. However, we would not cover shipping charges for your area. I would suggest asking about returns and warranty coverage at the place purchased. Note that the Lomanco warranty applies to residential use only and is void if used on fireplace, chimney, or stovepipe.

    For these to work, the unit would have to suck more air out than air coming in driving it. That means you have created the most efficient motor generator that exceeds harmonic motion limits. Forget coal, solar, nuclear, according to the supporters of this product all our energy woes are over.
    Keep Dreamin - they don't work any better than static vents.
    If you look at industrial rotating vents, they have a sail ten times the size of the separate extraction vents - these vents work very well
