    First off, I want to say I really like how you’re clearly not one of the other rich kids with $100,000 rigs that act like it’s simple to build their amazing houses in a vehicle. Then imply they are somehow ‘roughing it’. I bet those dudes stay in hotels most nights and just fake it for YT anyway 🤣 awesome setup, good video!

      Caveman Outdoors it’s so comfortable! And fast with very little set up and break down time! It was very tricky figuring out the best way to get in. I tried to get into my sleeping bag while in the hammock, that was a disaster!

    I love watching these types of videos for ideas. Never considered a hammock at all for inside my TJ, but I could do that and a small platform for my partner to also sleep in such a small space in the event of camping or an emergency if we had nowhere else to go. Looks great!

    I bring things to drink like orange juice, lemonade, ice tea all in concentrate form but defrosted and in water bottles, the strong kind like Dasani type or small Gatorade bottles. Brink milk that way too. If you brink ice just add water and make Arnold palmers. Only once my ex had me make pancakes on a tiny camp stove. Why? I make things like banana bread ahead of time. Beef jerky would kill me. But love your simplistic style. We just bought a jeep as we moved to the town we used to camp and fish from. We have a small trailer and truck but now we want to do the one or two days and explore the area. Owens valley, Death Valley. Looking at mods but I’m not spending thousands. I measured the back and saw that two of the multi fold chaise lounge pads would fit, narrow too. The old fashioned kind. Not that two cushion set they sell now. Can buy online. It’s more so we dont have to drive both ways in one day.

    That sleeping bag/hammock trick is serious pro tip. Those little solutions are what make it work. I have done it in an S-10 and a van, have a Jeep now, but don't have a live aboard set up yet. Good ideas here.

    Glad youtube recommended your video. I have a 2016 2door jk that I have been trying to configure for sleeping. The hammock is nice for you young folks, but for us elders, back and neck arthritis would paralyze us sleeping in a hammock. Besides, I could not even get into the hammock. Your load out is impressive and has given me a lot of ideas. As to sleeping, I would like to remove the front passenger seat and place a platform or cooler in that spot that would be level with the hump in the back of the Jeep so that I could fully stretch out. Problem is you have to deal with those airbag and seatbelt connectors and the warning lights. So my latest "brainstorm" has been to remove the front passenger seat back and lay a 3/4 inch plywood board across the seat and use the space under it for storage. With the seat in place, there should be no issues with the airbag and seatbelt warning lights since these would be intact. I suppose that you did not have this problem since on your Jeep there is no airbag system and no seatbelt warning lights. Thanks for the video, and STAY SAFE!!

    I never thought about using a hammock in my Jeep. I normally sleep in a tent since the Jeep TJ has limited space. One day several rears ago after crawling all day in the rain we finally made it to our campsite. It was January and about 36 degrees and raining so I didn't feel like setting up my tent. Instead I took the cargo boxes out of my jeep and slept in the back, leaned up against the passenger seat. I took the rear seat out a long time ago. I can tell you my back was stiff for a month after that. Thanks for sharing, I may try a hammock next time.

      Awesome! Welcome to the channel! We use cbs just because they are easy to set up and find parts for on the road and they are fairly cheap. Another reason is to hope into channel 19 and get tips about traffic and cops from the truckers. Hahaha yea I’m definitely not rich but love to travel and trail! Everyone’s rig on this channel was hand built by the owner out of parts we have laying around our garages. For us it’s not about the gear it’s about the adventure, we have no need to impress anyone. We try to make them functional and reliable regardless of how crappy they look haha.

I'm 6ft 235lbs and 47 so I'm thinking the hammock might not be ideal for me but you got a nice set up. Im considering a rooftop tent. But thanks for the video, I like to learn from other folks set ups.

    • @itsDeza
      @itsDeza  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome!! Welcome to the wonderful world of overlanding! I currently have a rooftop tent also, and I love it! It has its downs and ups tho. Compared to the hammock it’s alittle more set up and break down time, but on the flip side it’s nice to stretch out every couple nights haha. But for stealth sleeping in sketchy areas the hammock wins haha. A plus for the rooftop tent is I can bring my gf along with me and we have a nice place to change. Personally I like the 2 doors! The 4 doors are alittle to big in tight spots haha. If you have any questions don’t be afraid to find me on Facebook and message me! Just search Jesse Colussy itsDeza and I’ll pop up!

    I’ve been living in my 2 door 06’ LJ for the past 4 months in the dead of winter through that polar vortex. I love the way your rig looks. But I don’t think I could survive using a similar setup. My stuff sack with a weeks worth of clothes(cold weather included) takes up the same amount of space as the entire corner you have for your tools and cold weather clothes. Hammock seems like an amazing idea and space saver. Wayyy better that the cot I’m using. Not sure how comfortable it would be though. but I’d love to try that. Great idea. Definitely subscribing. For your cb you may do a lot better with a fire stick antenna something like a 5 food to get the coil up and over the the extra gear, with a center load so close to the body it put the coil (where it transmits from) in a bad place, because you want that coil to be as high up and as far away from the body as possible and fire stick or a Wilson fiber glass antennas are about the best top coil type antenna you could buy

    Have you put your jeep on a scale to see what it weigh loaded and unloaded. It looks heavy with all your gear. The reason I ask is I see a lot of people overload there jeep and in a year or so they cant figure out why they are ripping spring hangers off the frame. Bending frames and warping leaf springs. And so on.

    • @itsDeza
      @itsDeza  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven’t had it in a scale but it sure is heavy haha. Iv already beefed up the shock mounts and I’m running jku rubicon rear strut to help with the weight. The leaf springs are rubicon express. They do ok but off roading with all the weight definitely is not fun haha. I’m planning on adding a helper spring soon to help it out.
