I was 9 years old, riding with my Dad in his old Chevy singing the Eagles newish song.
We couldn't sing, didn't matter the car was loud.
I'm glad I'm the age I am. I got to see Led Zeppelin and The Eagles live.
Looks like nothing has changed, since I lived there back in the mid 80's. Well, except the Walmart. That wasn't there when I lived there. Clear creek was hopping in the summer. And although I did know about the song, that monument in downtown is a new fixture that wasn't there when I was a Winslow Bullpup back in 7th and 8th grade.
He missed the bulldog statue. And that's the second Walmart. Old one got torn down and the spot is the parking lot of the new one.
He missed the best thing of all!! Chili fries, at the root beer stand
well captain that clear creek looks great to chill out and go swimming , I fried chorizo today myself with a dish its damn tasty , hope rex got some .
That abandoned truck stop used to be a Flying J, then a Pilot. It was still operating when I left that POS town after I graduated high school in 2000.
Was traveling through AZ saw Winslow remembered the song and thought must be a nice place boy was I disappointed one of the most depressing places I've ever seen.
I live in Winslow down the street from "Standin' on the corner" where they have 2 statues dedicated to the Eagles and the song that made Winslow recognizable. They play 'Take it Easy" all day long and you can hear it meandering through town with the wind at times. The folks here are mostly mooks as far as I can tell.

Got acquainted with Winslow in December of 2017. Nicely decorated for Christmas. Stayed in Winslow area for about six weeks. Met some great people there. Enjoyed the very small town feel.
You forgot one watching the cars rust. Like the size of that creek.

Yes!! Lol we do call it Windsblow lol
grew up in Winslow in 50/60's when it was vibrant and alive, before Interstate drove a stake through its heart. We used to walk out on the ice on clear creek in the winter. Route 66 divided the town with west bound going through one half of downtown Winslow and east bound running through the other half. So many beautiful cities died because of the Interstate, Winslow was just one more victim of political progress. Winslow had three sawmills, over 30 cafes and bars, 3 movie theaters and one drivein theater, shopping was abundant. Who still remembers the greatest western clothing store in the nation, Troutners...sat on corner across from Eagles corner. Yes I lived and loved in Winslow, and stood on the corner long before the Eagles made a fortune with their song. The Santa Fe Railroad employed so many, it too died from political greed. My advice to you is before you show the dead Winslow, take time to learn the beauty of Winslow.

Our property is between Winslow and Heber besides the Apache/ Sitgreaves National Forest, love that high desert.

#7 La Posada Hotel.Lots of Az railroad and Rt 66 history.Fred Harvey of Harvey House railroad hotels and they even made MGM Movie" The Harvey Girls" staring Judy Garland.

@@CaptainGnarkill Really cool architecture and gardens.There is a wrought iron gate that leads out to the RR tracks in back that is a work of art.
My Grandma was a Harvey Girl at LaPosada. Then met my grandfather who was a Railroader and they live one block away from the La Posada the entire rest of their lives. Three generations raised there but I had to move on. Go to college get some knowledge that kind of thing. I hated it when I was growing up there but I appreciate now what a good raising I had there.😮
Colorado River (color red river) and Lake Powell (where the Colorado and Green River have a baby)... So Green and Red Rivers make a Clear River Baby and nestle it near Winds Blow, AZ. Cute story.
