The two statues are Glenn Frey (long hair) and Jackson Browne who co-wrote the song that the band The Eagles made popular 50 years ago. Yes it was 50 years ago can you believe it! How time flies! Thanks Russ for taking us to Winslow to stand on that corner with you!
I spent ten years of my career at UPS driving cross country. Sleeper team two man operation, one drives while the other sleeps. We ran L.A. to Greensboro NC and back in 3.5 days. The first shift was L.A. to Winslow. We used to get off there at the McDonalds and there was a great little family run Mexican restaurant across the street, great burritos. I never got to see "the Corner", the streets are too narrow to get a big rig down there and no where to park one. A couple years ago I took a road trip all thru northern AZ and up into CO. So I finally got to stand there and it was great.
Say hi to Tommy Dukes. He's an outstanding blues player that sometimes sits at the intersection playing guitar and singing. I pulled out my harmonicas and jammed with him for about 45 minutes. What a good time!
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona Such a fine sight to see It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford Slowin' down to take a look at me.... Still love the Eagles cant stop hearing them!
I always thought the lyrics were "a flat head Ford" or something and my imagination pictured a woman driving a black GTO or a Fairlane, because I also heard flat as black.
"Take it Easy"! I saw the Eagles last Friday June 17 in Arnhem Netherlands. Was the 11th time for me, so I went to Winzlow in March 2019, I'm a big Eagle fan! I love it!
YES, enjoyed Winslow but at 17:07, Russ, you walked right by the fabulous LA POSADA 🪅 HOTEL, with great 👍 history as a former Harvey House. There’s lovely furniture, artwork throughout and you don’t have to stay there to tour the grounds.
Hi Russ .I visited Winslow with my parents in 2015.we have a photo taken with the statue. What a great trip it was!Thankyou for taking me down memory lane!
Thanks for stopping and videotaping, I have always wanted to see that I'm definitely gonna make a trip down there . I really enjoyed the video. thanks Russ.
So glad you finally got to check out Winslow. I always stop on every trip to see family in the South. Everyone should experience Standing on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona. Safe travels!
Do up Tucumcari. I used to stay at the Lasso Motel. Now it's gone , just the concrete slabs remain. 1 or 2 for 10 bucks a night. I have an old matchbook from the Lasso. Don't forget to get video of the world famous Blue Swallow Motel. I think it is still open. Thanks for your videos.
I enjoyed Winslow last May on a trip out West from KY. Also visited the Crater, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, and camped at Homolovi State Park. What an awesome trip it was! Ate some amazing Mexican food! Enjoy your travels!
That really was cool.😎. Think I must go to Arizona to see the places don't remember. Winslow is beautiful little town. Yes please to Petrified Forest....do remember!😊😳🎶. Thank you.
We Love RVerTV - Grand Journey Thru United States America - Grand Videos - Grand Music. Your Cow Humour / Where is Macdonalds / Comical. Russ Too Cool 4 School. Thank you Russ.
I missed "the corner" in your original stream by a minute or two ... Now I saw it with the "Route 66" sign imbedded in the asphalt. AWESOME ! You should check "Homolovi State Park" if you continue Eastward on Interstate-40 towards Petrified Forest. The Park is a couple of miles North of the Interstate and the campground is mostly empty. Nice place to stop overnight. RICHARD
Very cool. We went to check out Winslow um about 15 yrs ago. The store with the cowboy in the front was motion activated and welcomed you to Winslow. That was pretty cool. Yep Arizona does it's best to keep route 66 Alive and doing a great job at it, I think. Thanks for sharing Russ. Looking forward to your next stop
My Dad was a cowboy for the ranch that owns the Crater. Mom ran the gift store and visitor center. If you look off to the south you will see the Niniger Visitor center and tower. That's where we lived. Arizona suggested that the ranch give the site to the state. Ranch owners said sure, pay us for all the improvements we did.... That was the end of that
Russ Your the man brother.Ifound your channel by chance and I am great full that I did, don’t get around much anymore due to age and physical limitations but Trucking with you was like being with an old friend reliving our younger years. Anyway just wanted to say thank you for sharing what you do with us all,you brought me a big smile and happiness today so God bless you brother and keep on keeping on.🕊🆙
Same as you Russ never visited Winslow but definitely will next visit. Great town and yes someone needs to keep history alive. Once it’s gone it’s gone. Great video today, l can never get enough of 66. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
I play guitar...was in a small country/rock band back in the 80's... we/I sang this song. Now in my 60's, this IS a bucket list destination. I will travel there someday with my guitar and take my video. Thanks for the virtual tour. (you sound like Tom Bodett from Motel 6 spots)
One of the books on Route 66 tells about La Posada hotel in Winslow. We stayed there on a trip to the Grand Canyon - very interesting history with its designer and the connection to the railroad.
We are on a 14 state tour and was on that corner last month. I told my wife we had to go see it and get our picture there. If you didn't see the Meteor Crater it is worth seeing, we stayed at the park just off I-40
Hello Russ, glad to see your back on the road. Route 66 is really iconic. I have been on sections of it in AZ, NM, and Texas. I've been to Petrified Forest too. Gallup is another really cool section of Route 66. OUTSTANDING VIDEO RUSS👍👍👍👍!
But it is a dry heat Russ. At least that is what they always told me when I lived out there. You say you drove past Windslow, AZ many times in the past. Just goes to show in our younger days we are always in a hurry. As we get older we learn to slow down and smell the roses. I am glad you slowed down now and allow us to ride along with you to some very special places. Stay safe my friend and keep the van between the ditches.
What a pretty iconic corner in Winslow Arizona you and I must be about the same age Russ. I was probably about I don't know 17 maybe I remember being in my mother's kitchen helping her clean up and the song was on the radio yeah and I couldn't understand it said I thought it said there's there's a girl my Lord on a flap I couldn't hear what I understand what it said flatbed Ford I think it was slowing down to take a look at me or something but I remember thinking how cool it sounded to go travel somewhere. Amazing all these years later and I still have people taking pictures at the same spot.
THAT WAS GREAT ⭐️ I also have been thru Winslow but not to stop except for gas ⛽️ I will def go up soon and check it out ~ so thx for sharing this part of your journey and especially seeing the great statue of The song from the Eagles and the statue is Glenn Frey who sang it and Tribute to Jackson Browne who wrote it !! Great song and tribute . How is that for cool 😎 Look fwd to your next stop 🛑 !
A real American Rock classic anthem "Take It Easy." A great band, the Eagles wrote and played some of the greatest iconic songs of their time, and for the entire time during all of the Rock & Roll era. And what a nice looking little town, Winslow is. And for this nice Arizona town to commemorate this Rock classic anthem song is, I'm sure very flattering to the Eagles.
I was there probably 6 years ago and thought it ws cool. We based out of Flagstaff and went to Winslow, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Sunset Crater, Lowell Observatory, Flagstaff Farmers Market, Meteor Crater and other local places. It was a great week and I have photos of my wife and I standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona. I highly recommend spending a week in this area. By the way we ate at the La Posada Hotel and watched the trains go by as well.
was there back in 2018...great to see it again in your video Russ! btw ate one of the best Burgers ever in the " RelicRoad Brewery Company" on the other side of the street! Safe travels Russ, greets from europe
The other song ... "Standin' on the corner, watching all the girls go by. Standin' on the corner givin' all the girls the 'eye'. " Late 50's hit (I think)...sung by The Four Lads.
Something I'd be interested in, would be watching the trains in Winslow at the LaPosada hotel. It's an old Harvey house hotel, and Resaurant.
The book, Appetite for America, is a great read on Harvey Hotel chain. Amazing what they provided for travelers in that era.
The two statues are Glenn Frey (long hair) and Jackson Browne who co-wrote the song that the band The Eagles made popular 50 years ago. Yes it was 50 years ago can you believe it! How time flies! Thanks Russ for taking us to Winslow to stand on that corner with you!

Love it. I was there a few Months ago. Had to get my picture taken with glen Frey my favorite eagle. There was also a 911 memorial you passed by.

Jackson Browne wrote that song with the help of Glenn Frey. Famous before the Eagles sang it
The Eagles were the band backing Linda Ronstadt before they got famous.
