Thanks so much! Would you be able to make a video on backward rockers? I have a footwork sequence in my competition program that’s using a back outside edge rocker and I would love more pointers on how I can practice it!

Thanks for this video. Didn’t realize the FI rocker was such a tough one. But it makes me feel better since I wasn’t doing very well with it. Watching your first demonstration, I thought “hmm…I exit the turn with my free leg behind…” and it turns out coach was making me power pull out of the turn.
Speaking of tough turns…I find the FO counter to be a tough one as well…so please? 🙏
No skating the past week as I was out of town for vacation…but I did do some off ice axel exercises at the park today, and I think I got 1.25 rotations a few times. Let’s see what that translates into tomorrow at the rink. I’m planning to do it in class while doing waltz jumps and pretend I just got some rotational force that I don’t know where it came from…hopefully I don’t get caught and get smacked…
    Edit:
Class got canceled today for some reason…so just did some catch up practice. Zero progress on the axel😢 not that I expected any. But ina bauers! I consistently did about half diagonal length straight IB’s. Nothing pretty about my IB’s since I can hardly arch my back though…

Hi Coach, same leg and edge is a Toe Loop? or a Rocker is confusing, I call it Trojka, thanks Coach Julia!

A toe loop is a jump. There's also a loop jump but a loop can also mean when you trace a loop on the ice (so you go from forwards, turn a loop and exit still forwards, or from backwards, turn a loop and exit backwards). 3-turns, brackets, counters, and rockers all turn from forwards to backwards, or from backwards to forwards. 3-turns make a "3" shape on the ice (and change edge) while brackets make a "}" shape (and also change edge). Now I *think* I have this right: a counter starts like a bracket but stays on the same edge, while a rocker starts like a 3-turn but stays on the same edge. Whew! So far I can do a forward outside 3-turn -- and sometimes don't even put my free foot down! 😜

@@zeborahnz Pretty much. The simple way of remembering which way the turn goes is to mentally put three-turns and rockers together and brackets and counters together. Stand on the hockey circle and just remember, with threes and rockers your toe turns INTO the circle, with brackets and counters, your toe turns TOWARDS the barrier. It CAN get confusing at first, so that little aide memoir helps.
