I personally feel like folklore is one of the most beautiful albums I’ve ever heard. Sometimes in the middle of chaos and devastation comes a really beautiful thing, and for a lot of us myself included in the middle of chaos and uncertainty of Covid came folklore and evermore and I think it really calmed us and grounded us and made us feel like everything was gonna be okay even when there is no way of knowing that. Two years later, hearing songs off of folklore still feels like a comfortable nostalgia, in a homey isolated cabin in the woods.

This song is highly underrated. When people talk about Folklore and give their favourites list, I very rarely see it mentioned. Not sure why, it brings me to tears every time, it's so beautiful.

To me, the instrumentals at the end are like a marching band and an EKG showing the heartbeat intertwined. The parallel goes THAT far. This song is a masterpiece as a whole.

This song always brings a tear to my eyes. The fact of her comparing the horrors of war with the pandemic is amazing. I work in the medical field...not the ER, but I was still working with patients everyday. We received so many notifications of death that our doctor literally resigned and went into another line of business.

The second verse she was singing about the doctor of covid19, that's so beautiful the way she can make the two situations related

This is a beautifull song! it is about the pandemic she uses the trauma of soldiers in war as a starting point and compares it to what doctors saw and experienced during the pandemic

My Grandfather talked about D-Day after he was plagued with nightmares in his 70s...Pretty much how Taylor described it...people dying all around him,

This song really deserves better. Forever on my top #5 on folklore. It’s so calmly sad. An unique atmosphere of fear and healing at the same time. Underrated masterpiece.

It’s the best song on Folklore by miles. It’s too stark and raw to be a favourite but as a piece of art??

On the note of capturing lyrics with the sound, most of the folklore instrumentals were composed by Aaron before he worked with Taylor. He sent them to her and than she had scenarios play in her head for each of them. So it’s less capturing lyrics with instrumental and more capturing instrumental with lyrics.

genius lyrics. "someone's daughter, someone's mother" made me think about her Mom, who has both breast cancer and a brain tumor; it can be about coping with any personal medical crisis, so the song will be relevant long after the current problems. ** someone else will no doubt say something, but most of the underlying music was composed by Dessner, either as a self-therapy or for his unfinished project with Justin Vernon (Big Red Machines' 2nd album). Taylor asked him for everything he was willing to share, no matter how odd, and he sent her an enormous amount of music. He sent it to her at 9PM; he woke up to find Cardigan in his inbox, timestamped at 2AM.
What is really great is Dessner's connections; the orchestration was done by his twin (in Paris, FR); and different musicians around the country that he and Justin had worked with, who added in the live strings, live drums or other instrumentals --- blind, Their interviews afterward (and Taylor giving other recording studios credit in the liner notes) made for some interesting content, because no one was told who it was for, or heard any vocals. Taylor didn't give any interviews after she released it. She pretty much _shoved_ Dessner into the spotlight.

The thing for me that really drove home how emotional this song was, was the realisation that Taylor's home is in New York, and this would have been written as a plague was ravaging hundreds of thousands in her beloved city and mass graves were having to be dug. The parallels of trauma working on the front line in either war or pandemic, so poignant and true

I love epiphany it’s so beautiful. And I love Marjorie from evermore too. It took me a few listens to appreciate the melody, but I love the lullaby sound of it. Definitely top 5 on the album

Thanks for reacting and appreciating this song. Not enough do i don't think. My thoughts on EPIPHANY: starts about her grandfather (WWII vet) (the beaches, bleeding out, some things you don't speak about) them being heroes... Second half: COVID heroes (heath care, her nurse friend) (holding hands through plastic, breathe in - breathe out like a ventilator, med school doesn't teach you) she's basically praising different types of heroes, and reflecting the pain they go through while still doing their jobs (someone's mother, daughter, only 20 mins to sleep and make sense of what you've seen.) You can subtly hear what sounds like heart monitor and bombs at the end. imo
Whenever I hear this song I picture soldiers, and nurses/doctors working the Covid front lines....
It's the most beautiful song to me on the album. Wish there was a video!!

Covid part really hits me hard. I worked at Covid wards and my mother also suffered from Covid. “Holds your hands through plastic now” is very clever.
Those days traumatized me a lot. This song is really special for me. It’s like she’s giving me hugs coz she understands me what I’ve gone through. 🫂

This song is so important. And the men she talks about still don't talk about their experiences in the war. Healthcare workers dealt with the sick and dying then had to deal with the morons who thought it wasn't real.

Waooo!!!....Congratulations my friend Suffi!! ...I want invite you to give us your opinion, like music lover, reacting to who is considered the best singer of the world...His name is Dimash Kudaibergen, a young singer who handle 7 octaves and 3 semitones of vocal range (An alien)...He has been singing since he was 5 years (he is 28 now) and he can sing in more than 15 languages...But if you decide to react to Dimash for the first time, please don't do it with his most recent songs ... I recommend that you go to the year 2017 and react to the song that made him a global idol ... I mean the performance he did of the famous French song called "SOS D'un Terrien en Détresse", when he participated in the famous Chinese reality show The Singer in that year 2017 ... With that performance Dimash earned the reputation of being the best singer on the planet, so I recommend you start with that one...You have to be prepared because you are likely to receive a flood of views, comments and new subscribers....And I have to give you a warning: Never react to The World Best videos, because they deceived him and treated him very badly.!...I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Dimash....Here you have the best high quality video of Dimash performing S.O.S. Live 2017.....th-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/w-d-xo.html
