- World water day special: How Meegni and Himmatpura, two villages in India's most drought prone region of India, Bundelkhand managed to beat water scarcity and drought using Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The two villages built check dams and other water harvesting structures using these funds. this not only reversed hunger and migration but also improved all socio-economic indices. this is one 16 case studies from across India that Down To earth has captured in it's cover story Waternomics.

Government should help Bundelkhand more , its a region were poverty has increased over the years, there are no major cities there.
Manrega implementation gone much higher after 2018 in Bengal. Big salute to govt.

Do atlest plantation of fruit tree(gauva, jamun, Jackfruit ,gular, kadam, bel, lemon( citrus), for your loved one and for need .
Poverty is human created term. Anyone blessed with life and resources can't be treated poor. So grabbing someone share of resources and make others deprived is crime.

The best development program brought and launched by the congress government in the year 2005.villagers in our country are guaranteed 100 days livelihood.many banifits for villagers, their fields, water sources, their livestock, their families, children education and as a village whole.what a outlook of Congress for nation. They ever for poor and nation, for them nation first, where it is now.
Good efforts lead to better quality of life. Farmers only need water fir every field, rest they will do everything to support the economy.
Farmers must be encouraged to grow drought resistant crops instead of wheat. Wheat is a water guzzling crop.

What about irregularities in this
Yes, there are many irregularities in MGNREA but at the same time it's also one of the most successful scheme of independent India. Instead of claiming it as failed scheme by current govt (especially PM), Govt need to weed out those irregularities.

Yes, govt need the pump more money in this scheme to pump up the whole process. As these methods are more sustainable to supplement the resources (specially water resource) of these drought areas. Providing direct tap water connection without augmenting it's resource will not be economical and sustainable in long run..

Check dam is one thing, an infrastructure, means to slow water drainage & hold it. But the bigger question of where the water comes from during dry season, whether it stores up monsoon water etc is not answered. a mere check dam cannot be a single point solution universally.

It's hilarious how some chamchas are crediting Congress for the success of MNREGA scheme here. These 2 villages came out of poverty and water scarcity in the last 6 years which is during NDA time. They are taking one success story and not showing many failures where not much productive work is done. In my village MNREGA is useless as most farmers are self sufficient. Yet they are getting the money. None of the chamchas mention the fact that MNREGA leakages are fully curbed by NDA after they brought in financial inclusion where money directly get's credited to farmer's account. None of the chamchas mention why many farmers were committing suicide in Maharashtra if MNREGA was such a magic bullet for farmers.
