The Hero 8 is a fantastic package! Durability and video quality combined into one easy to use camera. It really struggles with shadows, they are always too dark. Thanks for sharing your insights on equipment.
Great content once again man. And perfect timing too, as I'm currently looking to upgrade my camera setup. Really informative and helped a ton. Thanks Casey!
The low light on the a7s3 is crazy! A great b cam is the a7c. We are using it now and its amazing and uses the same lenses. Dosnt shoot ten bit but thats not needed with what your doing. Keep up the videos!
My setup is a Hero 8 Black, a 1080p forward/rear dashcam and my Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus phone with a DJI gimbal. I shoot in 4k with the Phone and GoPro, but when I intercut the dashcam the drop in resolution definitely shows. One big positive with the Samsung phone is that it's just great in low light. Since I just make videos for myself and I'm not a budding TH-cam star I can get away with video quality that's just "OK" and not broadcast quality. Eventually we're going to get out west (if this pandemic ever breaks and we're allowed out again), and before that I'll grab a drone and get my US Part 107 license, but that's a year or more down the road.
Big thanks Casey . I do photography trains and other things your correct on lighting is a pain on phone but found ways get around it like your saying better use GoPro which never used and wished I have . Yeah big cams like yours are $$$$ but worth money long run for starters yeah GoPro makes great beginner set up !
You don’t get that problem with the GoPro 12. Plus trying putting the hyper smooth setting into auto boost, that works for and I do a lot of low light recording for my paranormal/XPLR channel
Not going to lie, I had no intention of watching this video but I am soooo glad that I did. Lots of invaluable info for someone looking to getting into filming their adventures. Commenting for a friend...🤓 Great video.👍🇨🇦
Very interesting! Thanks! I make videos in South Africa. This is very helpfull. I basically also only have 2 iphones and 3 gopros... would love a a7c, but cannot afford it...
Just an FYI GoPro 9 has a way to have a 30 second video constantly rolling which only saves if u start recording. It’s called recall I believe. This way u can make sure u don’t miss anything.
New to four wheeling and had a question. I just recently purchased jeep wrangler eco-diesel so I can go on adventures with my son. We are slowly building up our rig and look forward to going over landing and offloading after doing a lot of your videos. what do you do about fuel mostly diesel when you take your eco-diesel on these epic trips any help would be awesome because some of these places look remote As far as finding diesel.
Thank you so much for this. Do you find your GoPro batteries die fast when it's a bit cooler out (wifi/Bluetooth off). I used my GoPro in the summer but in the winter my Canon 80d is the only option. I'm hoping soon to upgrade the 80D to something full-frame for better low light. That Sony is certainly on the list for me so is the Canon r6. Did you consider any other cameras?
Canon R5. It seemed to have a lot of issues over heating and with rolling shutter. Auto focus and low light were at the top of my list and Sony has always been the leader and finally had a flip out screen. This was a big purchase, one that could last 3 to 5 years, unlike go pros that I upgrade ever year.
Yes, but it has to be quite cold and usually im coming from inside the Jeep. I did have my drone not want to take off because it was too hot... When it was in the trunk of the vette over the transaxle haha
@@Casey250 Thanks for the response I've really considering the Canon R6 due to its low light and lower cost but the Sony certainly seems like a better option. Thank you for the reply and love the videos.
Generally I do with the drone footage, I want to get into shooting slog with the new camera but one step at a time and I try to keep my editing to a reasonable amount of time each week.
Very useful information for camera geeks and start-up newbies. Thanks for sharing the different camera options, as well as, the pros and cons.
Glad it was helpful!

Totally agree!

Glad to hear it!
Wow. Great choice of video topic. I am sure lots of people are wondering what to use for off road adventures. So many choices, nice work!
Thanks! Ya its really turned into a mix of devices.
Thank you so much for the tips and tricks.

Thanks for the information. Love watching your channel.
Thanks for watching!
Good info and thanks for sharing.
Great video. Look forward to the new drone footage
Me too! Mini 2 is a nice little upgrade on the pain points that affected me on the mini 1
Wow I'm amazed your just using the mini 2. I know it's 4k capable but your shots look so good I assumed it was the air or pro. Great job
Everything you have seen up till now is the mini 1, upscaled from 1080p in post.

This Sony was an investment but I waited a long time to get here so I knew the investment was worth it.
@@Casey250 I'm trying start my own channel . So been watching and learning .

Incredible Work 👍
Thank you so much 😀
How about a Sony Action Cam, much better sensor and stabilization?
Dude, awesome video! We're small creators ourselves and REALLY appreciate the insights 🤙 -Josh
Glad I could help

Was very helpful. Maybe I missed it but what kind of dashcam do you have?
There is a link in the description. Its a blackview.
I love you content even back in the GoProdays...Keep it up...Hope to see ya on the trail in 2021 (???MOAB FAN RUN???)
Gopro still has lots of use. Moab one day when the border opens.

I used GoPros for 2.5yrs and 175 videos. They are great to get started.
@@Casey250 Thanks! Good to hear someone did walk the same road.

Ya its good but kills the battery
Awesome stuff Casey! Did you ever have a older Sony A7 ii or original? Im looking to get a cheaper backup camera that would be great in low light.
Thanks! - no I didn't, I went straight from Gopro to A7Siii .

Super sir love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🔥🔥❤️❤️
Yes, both, different cameras for different shit, that GoPro can go places the Sony never can.
Totally. The perfect camera is the one that can get the shot you need haha
