    Steve,
    Ignore the haters. I don’t love everything all the artists I enjoy do, but then if we all created the same things all the time it really wouldn’t be art now would it.
    You really do wonderful things pushing the boundaries and testing new concoctions and it’s really lovely that you do. You’ve answered a lot of questions and come up with some surprising results. Thank you for that and please continue to create and surprise us.

    I really love that you show us everything about your process whether it's a triumph or a learning moment...it really is inspiring for people and makes us carry on because if it's ok for you to have issues and move on then so can we ☺️ I love the stamp idea...I've seen someone trying stamps in Jesmonite and that worked really well so maybe that's something to try...or see if it works with your other cement type things you've used in other projects 🤔

    I found out it works by accident 😂 I was making a mold with oyumaru, using my rubber stamp, and accidentally spilled some UV resin on another stamp. I cured it and peeled it right off😂 So glad, it was my favorite stamp lol. Nice to know we can use them with the TackIt too! Thank you as always Steve, you are a treasure💞

    Such a fun idea! I wonder if you let the resin partially set & then add the stamps to the top … just gently set them in. Wonder if they wouldn’t sink since the resin is somewhat set. As always, thanks for sharing.

    I have used this with a flower stamp inside a flower coaster mold as a center, used some mica powders or chameleon powder on the raised areas before the resin and loved the effects.

    I tried this on my channel 7 months ago. It's super fun!! Great idea to use the Tack it Over on the back so they don't float if they aren't very sticky. Sorry it didn't work out, but it's still a good idea. I also like to show my fails. It keeps me humble when once in a blue moon it actually works out well. 😆 My issue when I tried stamps in the bottom of the mold was the edge around the stamps I used, showed up as well. Was thinking of trying to instead press the stamp into the resin after pouring it, and it gels a bit. I didn't try it with ink on the stamp. Pretty cool, Steve!

    The one with the faces would make a lovely hand mirror, and, with the bevel on the opposite side, the mirror would be protected when turned over to show off the artwork. It's got that 40's glamour era vibe. Maybe a crushed velvet effect with some bold jewel tones.
    I saved this video to watch at the end of my day when I could relax. What you do matters, Steve.

    Things I love about your videos: The mistakes, the saying mistakes, the blunders and bloopers, the messes you get into, and out of. I love the lack of editing errors, and leaving it as it was recorded. I love that your videos are not magazine perfect, filtered to death and done for "maximum views" vs actually educating us. SO, don't stop being you, keep your videos real, and just be you. We love you for these reasons.
    I was wondering, can you perhaps, use mold release (either before or after applying the ink) to make those stamps release easier?

    First I thought, the person meant, if you can put stamped images in resin...or maybe postal-stamps...I'm surprised, that you put "real stamps" in the resin (I wouldn't have dared lol)...mold-release seems to be a good idea in order to save the stamps.🙂

    I love your experimenting. I will argue during your presentation with the computer about what I would do differently. I also greatly appreciate the educational aspect of things. My attitude tends to be it is a failure if you do not try. I would rather try and fail because that means I have more to learn. I look forward to seeing your new studio soon. I hope the transition to your new home goes smoothly.

  • @ZippedUpKitz

    I love how you said you don’t want to give people unrealistic expectations with resin especially when first starting out……… I saw a video the other day by someone making their own shaker charms with just regular molds and then Creating the hollow area… they CLAIMED to be using UV resin but these were COLORED molds and on top of that, they were using black ink… there is no way on God's green earth that this person was using UV resin and curing these little projects in 30 seconds!!!! That made me a wee bit upset and I called them out on it… I mean this stuff was not even tacky to the touch when they pulled them out, much less cured hard … maybe it would have been if they actually used 2 part Epoxy resin, but NOT uv resin…
    YOU are HONEST!!!! And that makes all the difference in the world to me!!!

  • @dollybrown1993
    @dollybrown1993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've wondered about this myself... Don't know that I would put the stamps right into the resin, but, rather make molds of some of them. That way I get the impression without harming stamps. I'll have a go at it from that perspective and see what happens.
    Will be a bit though because I'm in the middle of 2 moves.... Moving out of the house I've owned for 25 plus years AND then I'll be moving my craft room out of the house into my NEW "CRAFT ROOM"!!!! Very excited about the 2nd move!!!
    Stay safe, be YOU, and stay crafty👍👍🔔🔔🦋🦋

      I was just about to suggest that! I have never used stamps so I don't know what they're made of, but you could always do a cast in another material and then make a silicone mould if the materials are incompatible. It's probably a long process but if you have a stamp you really like, I think it would be well worth it!

    You gave me a great idea! I have a bunch of stamps I no longer want. Clear ones. I'm going to paint them and just leave then in the resin. Most are Christmas stamps so maybe I will make ornaments. Of course, since I don't care about the stamps they will most likely fall right out. Ha ha.

    Great tutorial! What if you try:
    -put a very thin layer of resin in first;
    -let it get hard:
    -then take your stamp and ink it well;
    -press the inked side onto the thin layer of resin;
    -let the ink dry;
    -then pour on the new resin to fill it up;
    -this way you don’t ruin your stamps!

    With a little fine tuning, so as not to lose the stamps in the process, this would actually be amazing. I think you could even use the stamps without any ink (with mold release), and then use acrylics or something to colour them afterwards. What a bummer the stamps were ruined, though!

    Hi Steve, nice experiment. You always seem to find new ways and new possibilities, without doing things that are way over the top.
    I got a question though, didn't the glue affect your molds?
    I used 3d stickers in my molds, but the sticky part left a mark on the molds unfortunately. Could be because the molds were cheap, or the glue on the back of the stickers was too powerful.
    I made necklaces with stickers from Frozen inside and someone bought them from me and is now selling them on the markets himself. 😃 it looks really nice with the 3d stickers in resin.

    • @kittyleftwich9394
      @kittyleftwich9394 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you won't see others posting what doesn't work like Steve does. That's why with this site we know what problems to look out for. Maybe, just maybe someone can help with a solution. I would rather know that something like this might be over my skill level, than see it work perfectly on someone else's site in spite of all the problems they had getting to the final product and making it look easy that I would end up frustrated and stop resin crafting all together because I can't duplicate those results.

  • @cheaquettaj
    @cheaquettaj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was an excellent experiment and I like your results even the not-so-perfect ones.🏵 I'm thinking about doing a channel showing my attempts and growth as a very fresh resin artwork creator. I plan to follow in your footsteps 👣and show both my successes and my not-so-perfect results (I don't like the word failure when speaking about artwork or anything creative). I think what people call failures should be called successful lessons that lead to better outcomes the next time.💮🌸🏵 Those people who criticize your experiments and art creations should be ignored completely. 🚫 They are immature and must not have been given adequate lessons in etiquette as a child because a basic rule to follow is "If you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all".Dab on the haters! Thank you Steve 👏👏👏for another cool experiment that gave me tons of ideas💡💫💫

    How did you keep the ink from releasing? I used Staz-on and the UV resin reactivated it making black swirls in the resin and featuring the ink.
    Update: I tried the Jaquard Color Pad Black Dye waterproof and fast drying ink. It set for a while while I finished another project. It worked perfectly in the UV resin.

    I have seen people use the stamps as stamps in the bottom of the molds example they will stamp paint or ink on a thin layer or the bottom of a mold so when the project is pulled out the stamp is in the resin... I have aslso seen people paint on resin to make hyper realistic fish.

      Also ignore the haters/rude people they are not worth taking up any space in your creative mind. Thank you for showing us good & bad as it helps us mere mortals lol. Well done.

    Maybe use this idea but to make molds? Place it on the coaster for example, and then use silicone to make a reverse so you can make it reusable and mirror any of the words.

    If it was me, I think I would set a small layer of resin. Let it set. Stamp one with staz on, do another with momento ink and then gently heat emboss it. Then I’d pour and set another layer of resin on top. Cut out leaving the stamps in it totally. I’d be interested to see how either of those two worked out.

    Can you tell me where to get the stamps of the ladies? Thanks.
