    **important Message** An artist on a Facebook Page informed me that she tried this and her Jesmonite cracked. I DID NOT have this issue however .. please know that this could happen and be safe at all times.

      I wonder if the mixture was off? Or they were cold and there was a thermal shock? I hope she tried again just for peace of mind.

      @@alcg3981 ohhhh I'm not sure I didn't ask if she tried again .. but that is really possible it was cold

      Her Jesmonite was probably still wet.

      They could have been cold or maybe her mixture had a bit too much water in it? If they weren’t completely dry all the way through, the heat gun could have caused the water inside to form cracks as it tried to evaporate

    • @dalemaclaren7576
      @dalemaclaren7576 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use a embossing heat tool instead of heat gun maybe!!

  • @bluecurlygirl
    @bluecurlygirl ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Claire to stop the powder sticking to random places (static) brush the surface with some cornflour or talc. Also a little artist brush will brush off any excess and is always handy to have around when heat embossing. I love the magic that happens when it starts turning from powder to liquid. Defo hold the heat tool back a bit and don't wiggle it about. Hold it still and then once it starts turning move it slowly along.

    Tip from a veteran stamper, if you have a mortar & pestle, grind the powder to a finer powder for more detailed images . Heat up heat gun before moving to powder. 🇦🇺😀

    I'm in the U.S. so we only have JDiction's ResinCrete which I've been doing but just don't know what to use for a sealer and there's not many vids on it yet. I've only used embossing powder on unbaked polymer clay and then let the powder melt while I bake it as I didn't have a heatgun yet then. This ticks yet another box on the pro-try jesmonite list!

      Huh... I guess if you wanted to do a big batch of these for a craft fair or something you could do the stamp and embossing powder and lay them all out on a tray and just pop them in the oven all at once. That would be a real time saver since you wouldn't have to heat each one individually. If you set them in the oven before it fully heats up you might even avoid any thermal shocks to your Jesmonite. Nice! 😁👍 Would probably be a good idea to lay them on a silicone baking sheet, some polyfill or even a bed of cornstarch to avoid the tray burning the back though. 🤔

    Oh, these are SO COOL, Claire! 😍💯 Thanks for the warning(s)! Embossing powder is such a great invention, as is Jesmonite. 😊 Wondering...would a lighter get hot enough to melt the embossing powder without overheating the Jesmonite? Maybe? I have no idea, as I don't emboss.
    The purples are *gorgeous* even though it's not a color I "love", I still love looking at it. I know...I'm weird. 😅

    They look great Claire, well done again XXX if you wanted finer detail, wipe with cornflour and a brush first and just touch delicately with the stamps, the powder will be finer then. A nice wet ink like versamark is the best. The black on purple looks beautiful and I'm not usually a fan of purple 😊
