I have the good of both worlds. All my children were adults by the time I was 45. Now I have the freedom to roam with the support of my kids. I'm blessed! ☺✌🙋♀
Plan what you can but be ready to make changes and never give up. I am 64 today. Divorce 10 years ago finished raising my 4 kids put them all though college and retired at 62. My youngest son just graduated from Stanford University computer science degree and the other boys are also working with computers, my daughter is in Japan English teacher. So far all is well. Take care.
Your video resonates in my mind. Having grown up poor, children would have cost me my freedom and locked me into a low paying corporate grind for life. The freedom that both the man and the woman lose when they create children is enormous. I tip my hat to those couples that do everything within their power to support their partner and to compensate each other for that loss of freedom. I am single, 74, financially set, and have enjoyed my freedom to the fullest. I would not be here unless my ancestors had surrendered a big part of their freedom, and I am grateful. But that life was not what I wanted.
Good advice, different generation, married ready made, one stepson, married 35 yrs, wife passed son doing great living in van since 2019,17 yrs older than you, one old geezer
Yep, make that mistake at 18, not saying my two boys were mistakes. Happy accidents. Now after years of hard work, I can now do what you're doing if I so choose. Tho at limited ability. All used up. Living vicariously thru you.
We had a clam a couple of years ago, similar to yours except bigger. we also had a hummingbird trapped.... I carefully caught it in my cupped hands... When I tried to let him go he just set there on my hand. we fixed it some sugar water and set him next to the dish and a short while later he just flew away.
Hi Matty...van life is the best ..forget about the rest...until you retire..and hope you don't expire...the hummingbird was sweet ....looking for a treat ... your dinner looked delicious... better than mine..back in October I dropped it and ran it over ....have a great week...take care. .... Aloha wow 52 thanks to sharing what could have happened, loves great but paying for a life time due to a night of pleasure, drinking, with a issue that will be a huge part of your life.I am going to share this with my brother to hopefully 🙏 share with my nephew.best explanation I have ever heard.I had a girlfriend in the late 80’s that told me she was pregnant,Ihad to ask my mother to loan me 900 dollars, broke my moms heart.next day girl said she had a dream she was not. True decent.still I really hurt my mom and this changed are relationship. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and advice. Mahalo Bishop
😮😮😅 hummingbirds like red. My neighbors had a hummingbird stuck in their tent for who knows how long I saw it and had to do the same thing, flush him out.🎉
I couldn't have timed watching your video any better. My 16 yr old cousin was sitting with me. I'm trying to talk him into going on the road with me for a bit when he turns 18.
I've had the "World's Tiniest Violin" played for my love life (or the attempt), but the positive side of that is I have not been involved in toxic relationships or conceived any unwanted children.
I intended on a permanent pairing, but ended up as a baby mama. Best thing ever, imo. Now I'm the full time caregiver to my own ma. I never intended for my first day of freedom to be one of the worst days of my life..... but that's how life seems to be headed..... throwing curve balls atcha whenevers clever 🥲😂 They say its all for a purpose so roll with the waves and duck the punches 🤣🤣
Yes, I'm a care giver to my ma. I could be traveling. I dream of traveling, I'm prepared to travel, but something in me continues to be a caregiver..... like getting up to tend to a crying baby at 2 am...I do it. I tell myself, this too shall change. Thanks Matty for all your posts.
Good one. Hummingbirds are so light and fragile. You right on what you do when young has drastic effects on your quality of life maybe all your life. Zipper control and don't do crazy shit. I tell young people this all the time. Some listen others flip me off. Hey Leeds is a great place. Been there many times at the Barber Museum and track. We have had a couple BMW motorcycle national rallies there. Mr Barber abd his wife were so gracious. I got to drivecan F1 car of my heros. Wat cool for a country boy from east Kentucky. Did you ride any through my area? Sure you did the Blue Ridge. I have ridden most all my life and still do at 69 plus. All over North America wgen young 19 or so. Went to college and had some hard days and some great days. Prepared for it and did what I wanted to do. Worked 41 states and rode all 49 and all Canadian Provinces. It's been real good. Get back over this way I got place you cab camp. Power water FREE long as you want. Just out of Hazard KY 40 miles from Virginia border. Nice mountains. All good next time
Matty your camera work is outstanding because I watch plenty of van life. Video's and some are bad enough to make me dizzy watching. Hello from Prescott.
The friendly hummer was a good omen for sure! Google what does it mean when a hummingbird visits? I wish that young people would take advantage of the opportunities that are out there for them to expand their horizons when they graduate from High School and join the Peace Corps or work with Americorps and travel a bit before they decide to have a family or settle down into their career. Some people know at a very early age that they do not want to have children. I never wanted kids and I have no regrets about that decision that I made when I was 24. There are soooooooooooo many more options to pursue. That food looked great!
You can still have kids young and be at our age, living vanlife, if you can do it correctly. Minimize your expenses and maximize your savings. In fact, you can say i am, was in a van because i didnt do it correctly. And i dont recommend it unless you are really ready for the responsibilities, that includes who you have casual sex with...
Economically, its getting harder for yound people and poor people to survive as the wealth gap continues to grow year after year. We all have heard about how one income could support a family, those days have long gone and set sail for the average person. In fact, the average person can ɓarely survive on their own, let alone, to support a child or another person. I dont think that there will be a time again when the economics of the past would return to the days of yesteryear. My message to those putting themselves to have children...don't. Don't even stick it in. Its just no worth the risk of having a child, even in marriage, divorce rates give you a 50/50 chance. Most relationships don't last or make it.
It's kinda sad that panels that don't put out full power, given they're angled right, has become the norm. If there's not a review of someone saying it put out full power I won't buy it. And I'm not talking name means expensive panels. My 100w flex panels were $70 and I've seen 107w from my victron controller. That was in winter with the sun lower in the sky.
I'm 1 of the "lucky" people who made those better decisions to not have kids. Tho it still didn't make me more money LOL but I'm not tied down in that regard.

The hummingbird was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time! Bravo!

Good advice Matty. Studies have been done on how out of wedlock babies keep moms in poverty.
Correct analysis of life. I planned my life instead of just drifting through life. I am 67 now and retired at 55. And, four children 😮
Good video. Nice job on the solar panel hook-up and should work great.

I went from Oregon to my home in Arizona. When I went by Quartzite I thought of you!

You been Tinkering with that solar panel😂
Fluffy approves this message 😂 Let me know if you’ll be going to Mittry Lake. I may go down around Christmas. Wondering if Larry will be there 🤔
Kid's definitely delays plan's 😊
Nice work on solar panels ✌🏿🏕
Good info Matty! 👍🏽
For an introvert you sure are an extrovert ❤
Great advice for young people - most can have the "independence" if they avoid the things you mention.
Solid advise from a Solid Man!
MVH #1 in my book
Hummingbirds they say are the easiest for cats to catch because they have to slow down to get nectar.
Big Matt, dropping knowledge...
Happy belated Thanksgiving!
Hummingbird may have wanted shade!
The best advice. Decisions, wow.

Yeah No baby mama's in my life either. Some of us have chose the the road less traveled.
Matty your camera work is outstanding because I watch plenty of van life. Video's and some are bad enough to make me dizzy watching. Hello from Prescott.
Well i forgot what the video was about at the end with that deliiiciious food 😋
Watch out the little hummer doesn’t get his beak stuck in the mesh. Good job getting him out.

@Matty - Nice bungie job!😊👍
Excellent advice. Some people need to cross their legs and think about how cold it gets in Alaska.
Great advice. You know how it is tho. 18 year olds are thinking with the other head😆✌🏻🇺🇸
🤣
Very good advice!!!
😊
I love hummingbirds. Was that turkey in your meal?
Where do you store the solar panel?
Say Matty, your van hood appears to be partially open - do you run lights to keep mice out? thanks

Hi Matty
Good advice. Not being a baby mama helps too.
Love riding was hit n run, 4/16/24. I'll not share the road that way again.

If I missed it sorry why do you HABE rocks by the side of your tires?
So how much money do you have to have saved to do vanlife?
Totally off topic...just curious...do you carry those tire marker rocks with you? Lol.
Great topic!
If you lost your income from TH-cam, how would you continue living as you do?
🤰🤰🤰🤰🤰 LOL
Good advice

Per my gb ? Last vid. You don’t watch movies or stream much to eat up 50 gb of Starlink?
Wise words and very true
But if you have kids, you always have someone to go camping with you.
I'm 1 of the "lucky" people who made those better decisions to not have kids. Tho it still didn't make me more money LOL but I'm not tied down in that regard.
Made that early choice to not have kids as well. No regrets in my 60’s by not having them.
