- Saturday was proclaimed “Lowrider Day” in San Francisco and, on the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, Latino leaders reflected on lowriders' influence in the city and beyond. John Ramos reports. (9-18-21)

S.F. for you. But Franklin Blvd Sac,Ca for me. Friday/Sat were a blast. And may say,with little violence. Cops would let them Cruise, then about 2 a.m. they shut her down. Beautiful site!

Growing up in the Mission in the 70's/80's all the low riders weren't innocent. I was in many hot boxed cars that were driving low and mentally slow. Some of the low riders were actually looking for trouble. I remember when the San Jose low riders would show up and there would definitely be fights. People would check out your car and if you didn't have a garage to park it in it would be stolen by some loser Cholo. Loser Cholo' punk asses actually were the one's who ruined cruising and caused the cops to crack down on people. My mothers generation also cruised Mission St. but they weren't Cholos or Chola's just latin kids without gang mentality and cops left them alone. With all that said things were actually 100x better than what these "proud" low riders have let the community turn into today. Sad and disgusting.

It's good to finally see the LowRider Community getting their roses while they're still around. Growing up in the Mission District, I remember the low riders would come to celebrate during Cinco De Mayo. This brings back great memories of growing up on 16th and Valencia, graduating from Horse Mann Middle School, and going to New Mission Movie Theater to watch Freddy Cougar. I remember it like yesterday! See people getting on the participating in the sideshows but back in the day one of the guys said in the video. Whites were driving for pink slips no one talking about that but the police would spend their time harassing the Latinos in the community for their low riders! Yes, Sir 24th and Misson where all the action took place those were the days.

In 1978 I was along with friends In a car club , I was secretary and my boyfriend was VP, 67 impala blue and silver metal flake roof. I'm now 63 years old . Boyfriend broke up 1980

@ass --- sideshows where they do donuts in the middle of night when ppl are sleep is nothing cool about it..these low riders ride slow and low which are way safer and do not disturb sleeping ppl

"We Are the WORK-FORCE." In my opinion, That ain't nothing to be proud of. With the populace in the culture growing, in the not too distant future, no longer the Minority, why isn't there any striving towards becoming No. 1 in Education/Degrees so Latinos are no longer the "WORK-FORCE", but instead the OWNERS?? Instead of celebrating with these cars which Are pretty much works of Art , some of them, can there be as much of an effort put forth to have a Celebration for kid's going to College and getting their Degrees? Now That Would be something to be proud of!

Why can't the 25% strive to be 100%!? I think the Hispanic mind-set is "Whew! We're doing ok, got a job, paying the rent, maybe the kids will learn a trade, even if they don't graduate, enough to Party on the week-ends....".

I'm not talking down to them, I'm just referring to how Other people from some cultures Do Not Stop, until they get to the Top. In other words, "Don't settle."
Colleges are indoctrination and degrees are ever more useless. Their is a lot of Hispanics in middle upper class positions. Look at Downy, Chula Vista in CA. Look at Miami. Upper class white & blue collar Hispanics
