I’ve been a stylist for 8 years but I only focused on cuts in all that time. I recently started at a commission salon with 0 clientele. I’ve been watching tooons of videos for tips and tricks to build my business and one of the tips that’s stood out to me is finding a niche and really marketing it as much as possible. I’m getting certified in extensions soon but have also been just doing them here and there on models for practice. My question is, what do you recommend for a newbie stylist like me who wants to specialize in extensions only? What kind of services go hand and hand with doing extensions (for example, should I be focusing on color also). Thanks in advance! Hopefully my question made sense 🤣

You answered your own question perfectly. If you are planning on specializing in extensions only, you must be a master colorist to succeed. The only way the extensions will blend and look completely natural is with excellent color skills. There are a lot of stylists offering all kinds of extensions these days. The way to set yourself apart and increase client referrals is to be an exceptional colorist as well. Hope this answer helps.
Also a quick tip, invest in extension and color education. Beyond just TH-cam videos, make sure you are taking hands on courses where you can, when you can afford to. These courses will pay off tremendously in the long run.

I’ve had hair extensions done many times before on myself, keritin bonds / micro beads, tape in and always appreciated an aftercare parcel , proper brush , silicone free shampoo and conditioner spray , or some type of curler set or styling advice … how to manage the hair after . Proper Homecare advice , not just a sheet of paper. A follow up a few days later was soo amazing ! Stand out by not only doing the extensions but be invaluable by making sure I know how to care for them after and how to style , otherwise it feels like half of a service

@@AyeshaKhan-ws1pm Hey! I would try to push content about your product on the platform's you use the most and where you think you buyers would be. You need to have a great website with an easy check out process. Show close up videos of your product, maybe some client afters and what "colors" are in their hair, what wefts colors are the best combo to achieve certain looks. I would even start commenting with other hair extension artists, Like their posts, create interaction so people will come to look at your page. It doesn't hurt to drop in a message or DM to an extension artist letting them know about your company and why you are the best option for them! I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions?
