In a previous video, I've been asked how I handle Sedum morganianum 'Burrito'. Rather than just writing a lengthy comment, I think showing it in a separate video would be better.

The nice thing about succulents is if you accidentally break them you just end up with more plants.

Those sedum burrito gives me so much stress. Weather permitting I would probably just do the Laura Eubanks way, cut the tops and replant as cuttings into fresh soil, and put the stumps aside in the garden of death and see if it will put out new growth. 😜

thanks for this chuck! had a hard time propagating my sedum species
then I found out that they just dont want to be handled and i never bothered them ever since haha. now they are thriving in a large pot at the top of our roof deck

Interesting video. I usually use surgical forcep to take out delicate succulents and also to clean the pot from dried up leaves
TG the leaves make more right! For me, I use scissors to cut the Burrow Tail. Sure Like those cute Jelly Beans💚💚💚

I cant keep these sedum burritos alive ever how often do you water them in summer?
Honestly this basket was neglected lol, it is just the rain... but as a result its growth is stunted. It should be a lot longer than this based on its age.
You can also clearly see the difference in the plumpness of the leaves on the older parts of the stem vs the new one. The new growth has been so lush because ee had lots of rain lately. So I guess this means I should be giving it more water than usual during summer. Just have to make sure it is not burning under the heatwaves though.

Daniqua Griswold I water mine when touching the soil and it s dry. In the summer is the same, depending how hot and breezy it is, try soaking your hanging basket in a 5gallon bucket and the let it drain good before you hang again if you are hanging where you don’t want water to drip 😁
Love this vid! Didn’t skip the ads hehe. I was wondering what the blueish green succulent ground cover is behind u. Looks like tiny rosettes so I’m just guessing it’s some kind of echeveria? But I didn’t know they spread like that!

If I can’t get any 2mi Scoria, can I use 2ml river stones instead when I’m making succulent soil mix?
I usually use 2ml river stones as a top dressing for my succulent pots
I use perlite but it’s getting expensive

Yeah you can do that. I used to just use river pebbles before I found a source for all my scoria. They'll do fine.

Those are called "Donkey Tails" not sedum burrito.
Nope, the cultivar called Donkey's Tail has pointier tips. The Burrito is called as such because it is smaller and rounder.
Also the word Burrito is the diminutive form of the word "Burro", which is another word of Donkey. So this smaller, rounder, pointier plant is thus named Burrito.

People (including myself) use Burro's Tail and Donkey's Tail interchangeably, I'll give you that, because Burro = Donkey. Yes that's the one with the pointy tips. The "Burrito" name is used to distinguish between the regular pointier one vs the smaller rounder one. As the word Burrito itself suggests, it is smaller than Burro. So what I'm showing here is the Burrito, which is a sport of the Burro.

People are just calling it Donkey Tails because they do not know better. But the smaller one is actually named Burrito (the -ito suffix means "smaller").

It helps if the plant is slightly underwatered. Burrito and jellybeans more likely to drop leaves if they have been watered in the past week or so 💧💧💧🫘🫏🫏🫏
