Braith is a player manager, he should keep out because it is a conflict of interest. If he played for the storm or easts or the broncos or souths he would get a third party payment.
Brian can negotiate a pay increase next time his contract comes up. $150k is $75k after tax. Is Brian going to go an play at the wooden spooners for $75k.
There is no such third party payments.
That is the issue, if he starts asking, "what is my 2028 contract going to be?" do they say 850K? well he will feel short changed unless they promise him over 1m for the 2028 and beyond.
Now they could give him a pay rise, but if they don't and he sees that they won't pay him much more than 850k for 2028 and beyond, well that will leave a sour taste in anyone's mouth.
This is the agitation issue, you can't just tell one of the best players in the game "chewy on your boot" and expect him not to be cut, and you don't want cut players at a club, as they will start to bring the morale down.

Brian T and probably some players deserves more praise and recognition in holding up the team through out the season. Unlike few players having their long breaks and are back just before preliminary finals are getting more praise...thus causing bitterness amongst the players.
Absolutely the best current player who puts in every game, Penrith will drop considerably if he parts ,Parramatta should throw everything at him, but i feel he will follow luai to the tigers, Parramatta management do something and go for Brian
Contracts should not be set in stone to the extent that someone begins to feel they’re being dudded. There should be room for salaries to increase, written into the contract. A club that really values their player would be proactive at offering Brian more money.
I remember when this show started way way back. They actually talked about football.

He was happy to sign the contract at the time, if he needs to go to the club to renegotiate then go do that and if the club don't want to pay or due to salary cap, just can't then it will have to be decided if he honours his original contract or wants out. I don't want him to leave because we have lost enough players over recent years already. We have JFH, Luai and Turuva leaving next year, plus they have also had to let May go as well this year.

To'o is probably the most reliably consistent player in the comp. Never see the guy give away penalties, make errors or miss tackles. His stats are always obscenely high that it's basically expected of him.

As if he was unaware of what his team mates at Penrith are being paid, or what his ex team mates including best mate Luai are getting to leave and play for other clubs. I could understand if he found that everyone else has ratchet clauses if he doesn’t. $625k sounds pretty good for a winger, but he is well aware that Luai is getting twice that much at the Tigers next year. Taking unders to keep the winning team together must be a fading logic when you already have 3 premierships and a potential 4th already in the bag, particularly when the spine players are taking every dollar they can get… or maybe he’d just rather play with Luai than Cleary next year :)
Any Penrith winger finishing a backline move doesn’t worth much. He’ll struggle elsewhere
If the NRL "was" to change the way contracts were honoured it would have to be a 2 way street. If a club "contracts" a player as a 1st grade top 30 player for a specified period of time & the NRL enforces contracts then both the player & the club should be made to see that contract completed. At the level as agreed upon in the initial contract as well

Braith, clubs pay overs on potential and in my opinion he is a player you would play overs based on his work ethic. He might not kick for goal or will setup the winning pass which is finishing the set, but he will start that set so his team can get down the other end for his team to setup that try and to kick that winning goal. Give him 1 mill

If a club signs a player to a 4 year deal and that player ends up being a flop, the club never gets to downgrade thier current contract, and even if they move them on they still pay the difference..

there is more to any career than how much you are paid, this applies to footy. I know I would sure be in a side which is playing consistently good, and feels like a real community than chasing a contract at a bum club.

Have a modified salary cap. Homegrown club talents that come up through their youth programs are exempt from the salary cap. Clubs wanting to buy an established player are subject to a salary cap. It'll push clubs to nurture players for their clubs and loyalty for their club and the one thing fans love is player loyalty and passion for their club
