That's you done buying lathes! My turning mate and I were looking at that lathe and reckoned it gave the best value and quality for money we had seen for a long time. Health to enjoy. Brendan.
I am very happy to have been of some help Gav, I am sure you will be smitten with the lathe as I have been, it is superb. Enjoy your new toy, please keep me updated, as to your feelings as you get to know it. Take care, and turn safe Mike
hey mike today I received the same lathe .. what a lathe ! would just like to thank you for your videos showing the lathe as they helped me out with deciding ... I cant find any videos of the lathe anywhere else ! many thanks gavin
Congrats Mike. I too recently upgraded from an ancient Craftsman spindle lathe (circa 1950), inherited from my Dad, to a Nova DVR XP. Now if only my skill matched the capability of the equipment! Happy turning ...
Mike: As always from you, very thoughtful process to get the right lathe. I think it will be great if every beginner watches this video before making the mistakes most of us make in the mist of the enthusiasm of getting going with turning. It would have save me from buying a terrible lathe when I started. Thanks.
Hi Rama, thanks for the comments. The lathe is supplied by a UK company called Axminster Tools, I'm not sure where its made, but the quality of build is excellent, as is the performance. take care Mike
Congrats on the upgrade that is a great lathe only wish I had one that nice the bet part to me is the moveable head stock to make turning bowl insides much easier on the back thanks for sharing it with us looking foward to the first project
Hi BigMac, If you mean the AWVSL 1000, it was my first lathe, and did me proud, it is an ideal entry level lathe....and beyond. I would highly recommend it, and Axminster sales and after care are second to none. Hope this helps. let me know what you decide to do. Take care Mike
Nice! I'm green with jealousy Mike. My lathe is so old it is powered by steam. That is an upgrade from my donkey walking in circles to generate power for the main shaft.
Hi Mike my new toy arrived yesterday. I did go for the Axminster AT1628VS. I am well impressed so far. It just fits in the space I have. Next job is to clean all the grease off the lathe bed and apply rust inhibitor !
Great video Mike...NOT a second was boring...good information...good ideas. I really enjoyed it . I'm sure the new chuck will work out much better than the adaptor . Good luck and have fun .
Hey Mike thought I would let you know I took the plunge and bought one of these today. The Jet was in the end to much money and not enough features, now all I need to do is get s
I certainly agree with you on the customer service and quality from Axminster! They are absolutely awesome and they really stand behind their products. Not to take anything away from Sorby and their products and service. The patriot chuck I bought three years ago or so was not running perfectly true, don't know why but, it took me three years to finally decide I didn't imagine it all and I contacted cust serv, and they did send me a new chuck without any hassle at all, within a week I had a new.
Hi, I did consider the Patriot, bur decided to go for the Evolution, as I have dealt a lot with Axminster over the two years I've been turning, and find their delivery, and after sales service second to none. I must say one of the main reasons as well was that all my jaw sets are Axminster, so they all fit the Evo too. I am well pleased with it in all respects. I'm glad you enjoy my videos as well. Take care Mike
Hi Collin, To date I have nothing bad to say about the lathe at all, it does all I ask of it, and some. If there was one thing I would like is a large stop button, like a panic button, and seriously, that's the only thing I would change. The AT1416VS is a very capable lathe by the looks of it, I am sure you will be very pleased with it. Let me know when you decide to take the plunge, and what you think, I would be very interested. Take care Mike
Hi John, it continues to be a joy to work with. It always willingly does whatever I ask of it, and more. I cannot recommend it highly enough, my opinion is a little biased as I have only had one other lathe, but I don't see me needing to change this one in my lifetime - and hopefully that will be a LONG time.....lol Take care Mike
Thanks Mike, that does help. Im not too far away from Axminster so i think i'm going to take a trip down there and check them out. I'll let you know which i go for! :-) Cheers for now Steve
Hi Mike ,It was great to have a quick chat with you on Sunday at harrogate , I've viewed this review many times and the one by Andrew Whale . I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now but wasn't sure if I should stretch the budget that far ( or hide it from the wife) !! Anyway after seeing the lathe and your good self in the flesh I bit the bullet and ordered one but I had to explain to the wife that it wasn't my fault and you were to blame !! I hope that's ok .. Keep up the great work ..Cheers Andy Ps.. Hope you didn't get lost on your way home from the show !!
Hi Andy, it was a great pleasure to meet you too mate. I assure you that you will not be disappointed with the lathe, after nearly 5 years I still get immense pleasure in using it, and it does what I ask of it, and seems to be wanting to give more :) You are not the first person to blame me for such purchases, and I'm sure you won't be the last. Luckily Simon Hope was driving back, so he got me home safe and sound ... and without any need to call for help!!!! Take care, and hopefully we'll meet again one day. Cheers Mike
Beauty! I am suitable envious. Even with me being a relative beginner and turning for around 3 months, I am already beginning to find the limitations of my somewhat basic lathe. I shall watch with interest for your next video Mike and see how this beasty performs. If it is anything like it looks then it is a winner!
Hi Chris, I'm sure you'll be very happy with your new toy mate. Can't you get an insert for your Nova chucks, so they will fit the new thread size? I had to get one to allow my original Clubman chuck to fit, before the Goliath was delivered. Take care Mike
many thanks for your reply .. watching your videos of it in action has made my mind up or maybe its your excellent turnings giving it the wow factor :) lol The over bed capacity would do what I need just didn't want the lathe limiting me in the future . now to just save up for a few weeks :) take care gavin
I knew i shouldn't have watched any new lathe video's. My record No1 is a great lathe but its got no bells or whistles and minimum speed is 500rpm. Another great video Mike.
Thanks for the point on the chuck, I intend only to use it for my button jaws when i get the new on. i will have a look at Poolewood too thanks for the advice. Take care Mike
Hi Mike Hope you are keeping well. After your comments last month, two visits to Axminster at Warrington and a workshop reshuffle I have taken the plunge and emptied my piggy bank prior to Christmas. The 1628 plus legs and the evolution chuck ( like you my previous kit had 1" x 8TPI) will be with me soon. I am not sure I can continue to support 2 lathes so my excellent Jet 1220VS will become available in the near future. Take care John
Hi John, That is great news mate. I'm positive that you will be more than pleased with it, I bet you can't wait for it to arrive, if you're anything like me! I would be really interested to know what you think, when you've had time to take it for a few test drives. Take care Mike
Congrats Mike! It seems we both have been doing the internet research thing. I had NO idea there so many lathe manufactures out there. The Axminster looks like a very nice and robust machine. I know you are very happy. Enjoy.. :)
I have seen this lathe and it's bigger brother at the Axminster store, in Warrington many times. It certainly is an excellent machine compared to the entry level lathes, for the reason you stated. Personally I long for the graduate and there was one at Harrogate but it proved too difficult to get into the car and anyway I got frog marched away and told to build a pole lathe!!!! I am sure this video will reassure many turners considering buying one. Thanks James
Hi Mike. Christmas came a week early - lathe arrived yesterday so plan to get it in situ later today. Will let you know how I get on with it in due course. Best wishes for Christmas and the new year
Congratulations John, I'm eager to know what you think mate, I'm excited for you....now THAT is sad! Look forward to hearing from you, maybe best to PM me....or too many people will get jealous...lol. Merry Christmas to you and your family Take care Mike
Good morning Mike. Been wondering about the lathe you're using for some time, and happen to run across this video this morning. Nice lathe and great job going through the features. I have just recently upgraded from a Shopsmith to a Grizzly lathe. The difference is night and day. What a joy to turn on. Thanks for sharing Mike, have a great day. Fred
Hi Fred, thanks for watching and commenting. Very pleased that your happy with your new lathe. It is incredible the difference when you finally make that step up, I totally agree. Which model of grizzly did you go for, I'd be interested to know. Take care Mike
Mike Waldt I got the 0462. Happens to be the same model Stephen Ogle uses, happened to notice while watching one of his videos. Thought back and forth over a couple of features on the 0632, and very happy with the choice I made. One of these days I'd like to send a few pictures of what I've been able to turn thanks to you and a few other experienced turners on You Tube. Thanks for responding Mike, and happy turning. Fred
Fred Graber Hi Fred, I looked at the spec on the lathe you went for, and it has a very good spec. and reviews are solid , good choice mate. I'm sure you'll get many years of loyal service from her :). I would be very interested in seeing some of your "offerings" my friend, it would be a pleasure. Take care Mike
Excellent, thanks for getting back Mike. I'll order one as soon as Axminster get them back in stock with the extension. My large pieces of wood are piling up and I don't really want to chop them up to suit the 1000.Thanks again MikeBob
Mike thanks for prompt reply. Like blakes111 I was considering the smaller 1416 which would deal with the vast majority of my current turning but had nagging doubt that I might regret not going for the 1628 if my demands changed. I don't expect to buy another lathe so the choice is important. Looks like a trip down the road to Axminster in Warrington soon. Then difficult decisions - do I buy the legs or bench mount it !!Cheers John
Hi Rod Yes this lathe does run in reverse, just make sure your chuck has a locking mechanism to prevent it from unscrewing itself from the spindle, but you most probably know that anyway :) Take care Mike
Micky, most times the bells and whistles aren't needed, as long as the wood spins, that's all that matters ;) Take care, and thanks for your support. Mike
Hi Trevor, The length of the lathe is 1150 mm, just under 4 feet. Hope you can fit it in, as you will be well impressed with it me thinks :) Let me know what you decide, I would be really interested. Take care Mike
Hi Mike .I'm impressed with your new lathe. So I am thinking of upgrading. This might seem like a daft question but what's the actual length of the lathe bed . I haven't got much space and will be mostly bowl turning so I don't need the full distance between centres. I'm thinking that I could move the head stock towards the centre and if necessary take the tail stock off . Thanks
Mike What a Beautiful lathe I wish they sold them in the USA. I have a Nova 1624 which I like very much, but if I find that one day they are sold here I will sell the nova right away. Thanks
Thank you very much Mike! I appreciate your answer, I've almost completely talked myself into buying that evolution chuck .. :) now I just have to twist my arm and go and do it .. :) So what size of jaws does it comes with? I couldn't find that info in their catalog ... it's probably there I just couldn't find it .. you have a good one //Kenneth
Hi Mike Well I was always weak willed and knew I shouldn't have watched the video. Went to Axminster in Devon today to just have a peek at the 1628 and came away with one in the boot and an Evolution on the passenger seat. No reverse locking, so may have the wrong version, will have a chat with them. All set up and bolted to my bench. Will try it out in earnest tomorrow. Thanks for a super video.
Hi Phil, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. The Evo I bought is the same as yours I think, didn't want the extended body reverse locking one, as the idea is to keep the chick as close to the head stock as possible to aid stability, in my HO! You can advance two grub screws on the chuck to the spindle plate, to lock the chuck for "sanding" in reverse. They sya that to turn in reverse you nee to drill two indents to the spindle plate, to allow the grub screws to nestle in there, this will make it safe to reverse turn. Don't know why I said all this, it's in the chuck manual....lol. Take care and let me know how you get on with your new toy! Mike
Thanks. Nice upgrade, I was considering the DVR as well, I have the same dilemma re skill and machine capabilities.....lol. Enjoy your new toy mate. Cheers Mike
Hi Trevor, that's great news mate,I am sure you will be impressed with it. let me know what you think, when you've turned some pieces. Enjoy! Take care Mike
I've got it's distant cousin a 14yr old Awsl hobby lathe. Hope to one day get a bigger lathe like that. Forgot too what you looked like before the beard. You look wiser nowadays. Lol. Good video and still going good to this day. Keep em coming.
Thanks Dave, depends on what you want to turn, if long spindles aren't on the list, then a midi lathe would be my advice. The range at Axminster Tools is as good as any, or troll eBay for someone local to you who's selling. i did a video a while back on the lathe I started with, that might be of interest. If you need any information at all, just send me a personal message. Take care Mike
You can turn the head stock through 180°, I suppose you could go to 360, but the wiring might object! The head stock also moves the length of the bed. If you got a free standing tool rest then your capacity is only restricted by what the bearings and lathe can withstand, that I'm afraid I cannot answer. Hope this helps, you could contact Axeminster Tools direct, and maybe they could tell you. Thanks for the questions Take care Mike
Yes it does, there are two threaded holes with grub screws, which when screwed against the spindle mating surface afford sufficient resistance to let you sand quite safely. If you need to actually turn in reverse, they suggest drilling two indents about 3mm deep in the spindle mating surface to lock the chuck securely with the grub screws. Hope this helps, and by the way, it is a superb chuck. Take care Mike
Hi Mike! Could you please measure the distance between spindle and the base(where the bench top is meant to be). Got to build bench for this beauty! Thanks!
Hi Arthur, just went out and it's 14.5 inches from the centre of the spindle to the base of the foot. Hope this helps. Let me know what you think when you've had it and used it. Cheers Mike
Thanks a lot! I'm thinking of making my own youtube channel. If I have enough time, I'll make video about it. If not, I'll post a comment right here! Arthur
does the headstock move a full 360 degrees ? also whats the maximum turning over bed and with headstock turned ? I want to turn big pieces .. don't mind buying a Free Standing Tool Support if needed
If my jaws would have fitted the Patriot, I would have gone with it. I have been told by several people that they won't. Thanks for the advice again Grem. Take care Mike
Hi Mike, Thanks for a very informative video. Based on this, and my own research I've ordered up the 1628 to replace my trusty Coronet #1. I already have an Evo chuck(3/4 x 16TPI) but Axminster could only offer a thread adaptor to move it over. Not much good for reverse locking. Anyways they gave me a terrific discount on a T38 threaded Evo. So I can sell the Coronet on with chuck included. Great company. Thanks for all the videos and keep posting. Cheers Ade
Hi Ade, I'm absolutely positive you'll be well pleased with the 1628, but i would love to hear from you when you've given it a test drive, just to confirm my opinion. I also think that Axminster offer a service second to none, they have never fallen short with me in nearly three years of dealing with them. Take care Mike
Mike Waldt Hi Mike, I'll post back to here when I take delivery and get it up and running. It's on a 21 day delivery up in Bonny Scotland :-) Cheers Ade
Mike Waldt Hi Mike, Axminster delivered. Really nice guy and he helped me onto the bench with it, which was kind. In a few words : awesome smooth power, no vibration, variable speed and the flexibility of setup of headstock angle makes me feel bit more skilled than am. Now to practice more and see if I can catch up with you and Carl J (no chance!!). Anyone interested in a Coronet Number 1 :-) Cheers Ade
Hi Mike, i have been turning for about a year now and i treated myself to this lathe too and i love it!!! i am about to try indexing on a candle holder and i havent got a clue where to start with the indexing....do i have to buy an additional plate for the lathe?? dont know if you can help me but if you can offer any advice id be very grateful....cheers Jane
Hi Jane, It's a great lathe isn't :). I am ashamed to say this, but I have never used the indexing facility, because as yet I have had no need to. Maybe if you Google "indexing" you may come up with something. I'm really sorry I cannot be of any help to you on this one. Let me know how you get on. Take care Mike
It's simple Jane, if you want to drill 36 holes around the circumference move it one position at time, if you want only 6 hole it's 360/6/10=6 so move it 6 positions. But you do need to have your drill in a fixed position.
Hi MikeAre you still happy with this lathe? I've out grown my AWVSL 1000 and was looking for something to turn bigger bowls i.e. 25" + which will also be out of balance. The 1000 is a good lathe to start off with but when I put large items on it the lathe nearly takes off lol, so I need something solid that don't move. All the best Mike.Bob
+Bob Murphy Hi Bob, I am still extremely happy with my lathe after 3 years of having it. However I must point out that the swing over the bed is only 8", so I can only turn a 16" bowl over the bed. You would have to get the bed extension, that bolts on to the leg stand, and can also be used to turn of the end of the lathe in a lowered configuration. Cheers Mike
Thanks James, I am well pleased with mine, as I am sure you are with yours. The thing is mate that our wives don't realise that what we have is an illness, and can only be treated with new tools and machinery. I am thinking of starting a support group, and calling it WA - Woodturners Anonymous....lol Take care Mike
Thanks Mike for this helpful video. I am looking to upgrade my lathe and the 1628 was top of my list. Can I ask - you have posted a number of videos in recent months using the 1628. Is it still living up to your expectations ? Regards John
Hi Mike, been thinking about getting a new lathe as im currently using someone else's. I was looking at the AT1416VS which I believe is the model down from yours. In your opinion would you spend the extra to buy the 1628? I don't want to get 6 months down the line only to stay seeing the limitations of the 1416. Thanks mate
nice vid ...manythanks for sharing ..havent turned a fruit bowl since i was at secondary modern school can you tell me the entry level machine i would need to get an old pensioner going lol thanks Davew :O)
hi mike i have also just got a at1628vs, with as you know has a 33.35 thread but all my chucks and backplats are 1.1/2 x6tpi i have spent hours looking for a chuck thread adaptor but nothing. so can you help me with this problem, regards gwyn morgans
Hi Gwyn, I think I gave this to you on another platform, but my old brain isn't sure so : www.charnwood.net/products/chuck-thread-adaptors Hope this helps mate. Take care Mike
Very cool lathe, Axminster does awesome machines in my oppinion, I've got the smaller lathe 1416 and I absolutely love it, it has the m33x3.5 as well and a super quiet motor just as yours has. Did you ever consider the Patriot chuck from sorby? if so what made you feel the evolution was a better choice. I've got a sorby patriot but I am not pleased with the large overhang from the thread adapter so I am wanting to buy an evolution .. thanks have a good one and thanks for your videos :)
+Jimson's Stuff I am as pleased with it, as I was the first time I turned it on, it does what I ask of it with ease, and always seems to want to work harder, if that makes sense. I honestly have had no issues to date, hope I'm not tempting fate ;) Take care Mike
That's you done buying lathes! My turning mate and I were looking at that lathe and reckoned it gave the best value and quality for money we had seen for a long time. Health to enjoy. Brendan.

Take care
Mike
Excellent, thanks for getting back Mike. I'll order one as soon as Axminster get them back in stock with the extension. My large pieces of wood are piling up and I don't really want to chop them up to suit the 1000.Thanks again MikeBob

You won't regret the investment Bob, I assure you mate.

Congrats on your new toy, looks like u got a very nice one . Enjoy Rodney
For sure, it has taken me 3 months to take the plunge, and I'm very happy with the choice.

Mike
Hi Rod
Yes this lathe does run in reverse, just make sure your chuck has a locking mechanism to prevent it from unscrewing itself from the spindle, but you most probably know that anyway :)
Take care
Mike
Micky, most times the bells and whistles aren't needed, as long as the wood spins, that's all that matters ;)
Take care, and thanks for your support.
Mike
Happy for you Mike - have fun with your new toy, and let's see some more videos :-))
Hi Trevor,
The length of the lathe is 1150 mm, just under 4 feet. Hope you can fit it in, as you will be well impressed with it me thinks :)
Let me know what you decide, I would be really interested.
Take care
Mike
Hi Mike .I'm impressed with your new lathe. So I am thinking of upgrading. This might seem like a daft question but what's the actual length of the lathe bed . I haven't got much space and will be mostly bowl turning so I don't need the full distance between centres. I'm thinking that I could move the head stock towards the centre and if necessary take the tail stock off . Thanks
Mike What a Beautiful lathe I wish they sold them in the USA.
I have a Nova 1624 which I like very much, but if I find that one day
they are sold here I will sell the nova right away. Thanks
It's a great lathe Anthony, but so is the Nova :)
Cheers
Mike
Thank you very much Mike! I appreciate your answer, I've almost completely talked myself into buying that evolution chuck .. :) now I just have to twist my arm and go and do it .. :) So what size of jaws does it comes with? I couldn't find that info in their catalog ... it's probably there I just couldn't find it .. you have a good one //Kenneth
Thanks Charlie, extremely happy.

Hi Mike
Well I was always weak willed and knew I shouldn't have watched the video.
Hi Phil,
I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

I've got it's distant cousin a 14yr old Awsl hobby lathe. Hope to one day get a bigger lathe like that. Forgot too what you looked like before the beard. You look wiser nowadays. Lol. Good video and still going good to this day. Keep em coming.
The AWVSL is a great lathe had one for 18 months. I think older for sure, wiser....doubtful...lol ;)
Cheers
Mike
Thanks Dave, depends on what you want to turn, if long spindles aren't on the list, then a midi lathe would be my advice. The range at Axminster Tools is as good as any, or troll eBay for someone local to you who's selling. i did a video a while back on the lathe I started with, that might be of interest. If you need any information at all, just send me a personal message.

Mike
Any time Gavin, my pleasure. Let me know when you take the plunge!

Thanks for the questions
Take care
Mike
Yes it does, there are two threaded holes with grub screws, which when screwed against the spindle mating surface afford sufficient resistance to let you sand quite safely. If you need to actually turn in reverse, they suggest drilling two indents about 3mm deep in the spindle mating surface to lock the chuck securely with the grub screws. Hope this helps, and by the way, it is a superb chuck.

Mike
Cheers
Mike
Thanks a lot! I'm thinking of making my own youtube channel. If I have enough time, I'll make video about it. If not, I'll post a comment right here! Arthur
does the headstock move a full 360 degrees ? also whats the maximum turning over bed and with headstock turned ? I want to turn big pieces .. don't mind buying a Free Standing Tool Support if needed
If my jaws would have fitted the Patriot, I would have gone with it. I have been told by several people that they won't. Thanks for the advice again Grem.

Très beau tour Mike!
Je suppose que tu auras beaucoup moins de vibration avec ce tour.
Plus de limite, ça promet de superbe pièce.

Thanks Kreegan, I'll do my best ;)

Yes 14 inches or about 35cms over the bed way.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for a very informative video.
Cheers
Ade
Hi Ade, I'm absolutely positive you'll be well pleased with the 1628, but i would love to hear from you when you've given it a test drive, just to confirm my opinion. I also think that Axminster offer a service second to none, they have never fallen short with me in nearly three years of dealing with them.
Take care
Mike
Mike Waldt Hi Mike, I'll post back to here when I take delivery and get it up and running. It's on a 21 day delivery up in Bonny Scotland :-)
Cheers
Ade
Adrian McKie OK Ade, I'll wait with bated breath :)
Cheers
Mike
Mike Waldt Hi Mike, Axminster delivered. Really nice guy and he helped me onto the bench with it, which was kind. In a few words : awesome smooth power, no vibration, variable speed and the flexibility of setup of headstock angle makes me feel bit more skilled than am. Now to practice more and see if I can catch up with you and Carl J (no chance!!).
Anyone interested in a Coronet Number 1 :-)
Cheers
Ade
Adrian McKie Hi Adrian, I'm well happy that your pleased with your new toy. You'll be passing us in no time mate.

Merci Lolo
Je suis très content de cela

Hi Mike, i have been turning for about a year now and i treated myself to this lathe too and i love it!!! i am about to try indexing on a candle holder and i havent got a clue where to start with the indexing....do i have to buy an additional plate for the lathe?? dont know if you can help me but if you can offer any advice id be very grateful....cheers Jane
Hi Jane,
It's a great lathe isn't :).
I am ashamed to say this, but I have never used the indexing facility, because as yet I have had no need to. Maybe if you Google "indexing" you may come up with something. I'm really sorry I cannot be of any help to you on this one. Let me know how you get on.
Take care
Mike
It's simple Jane, if you want to drill 36 holes around the circumference move it one position at time, if you want only 6 hole it's 360/6/10=6 so move it 6 positions. But you do need to have your drill in a fixed position.
Ivor Erskine Thanks for your input Ivor, much appreciated.

Mike
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beutiful machine for great work.
Do you have to sleep in the garage now ??????????????
Best of luck
Jon.
+Bob Murphy
Hi Bob, I am still extremely happy with my lathe after 3 years of having it. However I must point out that the swing over the bed is only 8", so I can only turn a 16" bowl over the bed. You would have to get the bed extension, that bolts on to the leg stand, and can also be used to turn of the end of the lathe in a lowered configuration.
Cheers
Mike
Thanks James, I am well pleased with mine, as I am sure you are with yours. The thing is mate that our wives don't realise that what we have is an illness, and can only be treated with new tools and machinery. I am thinking of starting a support group, and calling it WA - Woodturners Anonymous....lol
Take care
Mike
ENJOY!!!
Thank you for the tour
with your old lathe did you put something up the back to stop the shavings going down there?
Thanks Mike for this helpful video. I am looking to upgrade my lathe and the 1628 was top of my list. Can I ask - you have posted a number of videos in recent months using the 1628. Is it still living up to your expectations ? Regards John
what did you do with your old lathe? and what are you doing with your old chuck?
Hi Mike, been thinking about getting a new lathe as im currently using someone else's. I was looking at the AT1416VS which I believe is the model down from yours. In your opinion would you spend the extra to buy the 1628? I don't want to get 6 months down the line only to stay seeing the limitations of the 1416. Thanks mate
nice vid ...manythanks for sharing ..havent turned a fruit bowl since i was at secondary modern school can you tell me the entry level machine i would need to get an old pensioner going lol
thanks
Davew :O)
hi mike i have also just got a at1628vs, with as you know has a 33.35 thread but all my chucks and backplats are 1.1/2 x6tpi i have spent hours looking for a chuck thread adaptor but nothing. so can you help me with this problem, regards gwyn morgans
Hi Gwyn, I think I gave this to you on another platform, but my old brain isn't sure so :

Hope this helps mate.

Thanks Scott, it does have some neat features....if only the operator was better!

Brilliant review thanks, I am considering getting one of these when they eventually get more stock. Are you still pleased with it? No issues at all ?
+Jimson's Stuff
I am as pleased with it, as I was the first time I turned it on, it does what I ask of it with ease, and always seems to want to work harder, if that makes sense. I honestly have had no issues to date, hope I'm not tempting fate ;)
Take care
