If you have the ad supported version, you can go into the options menu and switch the ads to only display ads related to the type of books you have in your library.
That is very true. I choose not to purchase digital books, so I don't ACTUALLY know all the price differences, but I know they usually are a bit cheaper!
The price of ebooks has risen dramatically over the last few years and I’ve even found hardback books to be cheaper in some cases. In parts due to the fact that it is an Amazon product which would be a big Con for some people. I personally love my Kindles.
@@wolfme4030 Yeah, but generally they're about 5 quid, can often get some good books for 99p too. Only way you're getting a physical book for less is second hand
@@wolfme4030 I have to assume too that a part of the rise in cost of ebooks is simply a demand issue, basic principle of economics. Hard to fault Amazon for that..... it's the way of the world.
Thank-you for doing this update as most videos iv seen are all unboxing kindles or they haven't had it a very long time. I also was frying my battery unknowingly, luckily I realised on first charge, it did great then after 80% it wasn't really doing anything until I switched plugs. I feel like the kindles should come with a warning or if they do its not very obvious lol. Also in regards to the speed I also don't mind it, I think the problem is everyone is so use to get everything like yesterday they no longer have the patience,.but since getting rid of social media of my phone and starting reading I feel like my patience has significantly increased.

The device isnt slow because of the processor, its slow because of the nature of eink displays. Its a vastly different technology and mechanism from how an LCD screen works.
Just ordered a Paperwhite to replace my Oasis I've had for 2 years - the battery life (literally have to charge more than once a week if I read a lot on minimal brightness settings), micro USB, and form factor are not for me. Page turn buttons are nice but not worth it. Super excited to unbox my new one this AM!
I work at my church, so when I finish things early or have to stay later, I accumulate a lot of free time. I also keep my Bible on there, just in case!
I bought the signature edition when it was on sale for 155$. I would have spent the extra money to remove the ads anyways so I could justify buying the expensive version. Was very torn about the colour and wasn't brave enough to go for the green. I was afraid it would be "distracting" because of the small bit of green on the edges. The green looks so much prettier though. 😢❤
I agree! If I was purchasing my own, I would spring for the signature. You can always get those sticker skins to change the color! In the future, go big or go home!! You can always throw on a black case to hide the colors :)
The only thing that really bothers me is that im unable to give books to my friends after i read them. Since the kindle files are encrypted you can't read them after you download them on other devices, so it really bothers me that when i read a beautiful book I go to my friends like "omg you have to read this... but you must buy it yourself"
The ads are based on what you read. Do you share an account with your husband? I was getting ads based on what my son was reading. I created a separate account for him. This fixed the issue of ads on my Kindle not within my interest.
That's what I assumed was happening, but I wasn't 100% certain! I read one romance book and started getting CRAZY romance ads, but they wouldn't change even when I started reading mainly thrillers. It did have some spice in it, so maybe they took that and ran wild with it! I am thoroughly content with not having to worry about the ads anymore, though :)
I want this but it is not available in India since January. They are selling only Oasis. Edit- You should request the customer service to remove the ads. They usually do that for free if you ask nicely.
Ahhhh I hate that y'all paid to have the ads removed. You totally could have just chatted in and let them know that the ads were inappropriate and they would have removed those ads a no cost to you.
Oh nevermind I just saw your comment saying they weren't doing them for free, but I still believe if you would have let them know they were inappropriate ads they would have done it as a courtesy.
I think it would’ve been nice to get it for free, but at that point, it was more worth it to spend 20 bucks to keep my nerves in check. I was bracing myself for hours to call and try, but I just couldn't 🫠

Yeah. They're so stingy with their books now! If y'all share an Amazon household, you can share books, but I’m pretty sure that's the only way!

A little bit. For a few days, the battery only lasted a few hours on a full charge! It's better now but nowhere near where it was :(
