  • Well, the Triumph cut out as I was riding down the road. Turned out to be the pick-up coil going open circuit when it got hot. Thanks to @johnnycactus0 for his video explaining this.

    When it stops does it cut out like you turned the ignition off, or does it feel like it’s running out of gas? I’m having an issue and I’m not sure if it’s the pick up coil. Thank you in advance:)

      Hi Vanessa, it cut out immediately, I could tell it was electrical and not fuel. I could also run it on my stand and then check for spark when it cut out.

      Hi, I hope you are getting that sorted! My friend's Victory had a similar issue and after spending a fair bit of money trying to fix it, it turned out that one spark plug lead was faulty, but only if it laid a certain way.

      @@WoodyMotorcycleEnthusiast No chance of that with mine, it's twin spark. I have had the bike almost 10 years in Thailand and for a while I lived with the problem since it was stalling at the lights and wouldn't restart for a minute and the problem was the rear cylinder. Anyway over the years we have gone over everything. This year the problem got worse, which is good news, easier to diagnose. We have changed everything except the pickups and only because the bike is rare, an NV400 built for the Jap market in 1983 and messed around with a lot by it's previous Thai owner..and a small crash which cracked the stator cover. Anyway I know a guy with a diagnostics box of tricks and who may know what parts I could use, or rebuild the broken parts. Last year I bought a replacement Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and I love it to bits. I am an engineer and would really like to fix this..I think I am on the right lines..we shall see.

    I have that problem, it gets spark to the spark plug on the right side, I already did the tests I changed the coil regulator cable and nothing, could you tell me what part number the replacement is, my motorcycle is a Triumph scrambler 2008

    • @WoodyMotorcycleEnthusiast
      @WoodyMotorcycleEnthusiast  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know the part number for your Scrambler, but if it was the pick up coil you would not be getting spark to either side.

      @@WoodyMotorcycleEnthusiast Any tip, since there's no spark on my spark on the right side of my motorcycle?

      Just the normal things. Try changing spark plugs, leads, coils etc over and see if the problem changes sides. Coil failure is fairly common from what I read.

      @@WoodyMotorcycleEnthusiastThank you, I will make the change of coil and spark shoes and cable on the side to have if it's a problem it's the coil

    Is'nt trouble shooting FUN one thing after another. I was foolish enough to pay $1700 for a repair. I was told that it was a clogged fuel injector by the mechanic. I was just happy that the bike was able to start and ride....a moment of idiocy for me.

      A mate of mine spent the about the same amount on his Victory only to have the issue on going. The shop manager accidently bumped a plug wire while they had it running and realised that it only worked in certain positions.
