      Delboy's Garage that’s funny because in my eyes, you’re the man with the skills.
      Knife skills are simple muscle memory, whereas your knowledge and experience comes from years of tinkering, research, learning, and trial and error.
      Take care

    Looking good Del. Those are the type of hours people will look right past when they check out this bike, but it's very satisfying when its all done. I also hope you put some anti seize compound on those exhaust studs. Ya never know if you'll need it. Ride safe, stay well.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe, always great to hear from you... I have your tiny cocktail glass video still to watch (silly busy week!)... the studs are only thrown in with fingers for now (for the main reason that I'll know where to find them in the future!)... but will double nut them and torque them in, was thinking of using Wurth AL1100, which is an alu-ease or alu-slip, and apparently more appropriate than copper between steel and aluminium, and it has the same melting point as copper. Take care and have a fabulous week, watch out for those spiders!

    It's a shame you didn't make this video earlier, I just painted the whole engine of my Bandit 600. I used Simonize as well but the Engin Enamel instead of Tough one. I was not sure the Tough paint will be heat resistant enough. Black Enamel comes comes only as gloss or matt so I settled for matt. On all the cover including rocker, i used the Tough Satin through, it looks great. Now i have to cut out all the cover gaskets and will start putting the bike togethers

    Hi Del, currently restoring a Honda Vtr 1000 firestorm. I need to paint the engine and was just wondering what your thoughts are on painting the whole engine with the Tough Paint? I've seen you repaint another engine using the Simonez Engine Paint so just looking to see if you have noticed any difference between the two? Thanks

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Iain, I've found over the years that engines don't get hot enough to burn Tough Paint, just let is cure fully for a fair few days and then fire it up and let it idle till it warms up and the fan kicks in, then switch it off and let it cool right down, this seems to cure the paint just fine and then it lasts really well... the only place it may be vulnerable is round the exhaust manifold area, but personally I've never even seen it discolour on the bikes I've done, and that includes air cooled Harleys... full degreasing the metal is really important though, even perhaps, roast off the engine metal surface with a blow torch gently before you paint in order to vapourise any contaminants!

    Looking good Del! I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned for the exhaust. I wish that Simoniz paint was readily available here in the USA; I gather it's quite common in the UK, but sadly not here.

      Hi Donald, Good to hear from you, i hear form a few guys over there then Simoniz don't sell paint over there, but for this which is just a stone chip style paint, have a look at the Rustoleum range, i think they do a few options that do much the same thing..!!

    awesome update Del! What are some possible equivalent paints to Simoniz Tough Paint? Going to be spraying my frame down (similar to your ZX7 build) during the process of repairing my ZX9 after my gravel excursion at the track and can't find this paint anywhere in Canada.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, good to hear from you... if you can't find the Tough Paint range, I've heard a lot of guys in the USA talk about Rustoleum... and apparently it's quite good, I don't know which exact product you'd need, but the Tough Paint is a durable, stone chip paint for chassis and crash bars, so maybe Rustoleum do something similar??

      Hi David.. well it worked here, not sure how the heat will change the colour around the ports later, maybe turn ti a little grey at the hottest spot.. but ive used this paint a dozen times in many different applications and it's really durable and tough.

    Wow now well done man that's looks a million times better and your not even going to see it 👍👍 I have a query I've had the exhaust stud out I snapped off with the new ones what would you recommend putting them in with eg with some sort of lub like copper slip or put them in dry no lub and what seconds brain picker what would you recommend the peg and nut be made of 🤔. Hope you and penny are good man 👍

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're fitting a new exhaust stud mate, then some anti-seize compound is a good idea, copper is fine and works ok, or you could find an alu-slip product instead... but something is certainly better than nothing that's for sure!

    • @Moonfleet41

      Yes it does mate, simple heat expansion of the gases inside the can force down on the paint liquid a bit harder, and gives you a finer atomization, a great way to get every drop of paint and the best value for money!

    What a sod of a job, nice work.
    Please use a high temp anti seize on those studs, aluminium, heat cycles and stainless steel can and do stick together. Anti seize will orevent that. Gloves are a good idea with degreasers, but youre a big boy and know this anyway, I just hope you dont end up with the hands i have, 40 plus years of being covered in oil,grease and mank and until realitively recently no realy effective gloves that protect you that you can actually work in.
    Please sent the name of the beer you were drinking when you came up with the idea of the busa....
    Love your work
    Cheers

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The studs are only finger spun for now, so I know where to find them... they will be double nutted and torqued in place and indeed I shall use either some AL1100 or at the very least some copper anti-seize... thanks for your support mate.

      Not sure where you are buddy, if you're in the States, then Harbor Freight do some insanely cheap ones that are perfectly usable, even for painting, and if you're in the UK, the Sealey range of compressors is equally good value at the entry level... it's worth treating yourself, not just as a garage tool, but it's a safe, efficient and accurate way to keep your bike (and car) tyre pressures quickly checked before every ride...
