  • When you travel and camp enough, yes, you're going to experience some problems with your camper or your tow vehicle at some point. In our case our truck serves as both since it carries the camper on top of it. In this episode we'll tell you what happened on our last trip camping where we experienced a major problem. We were on our way to Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds to camp at Lake Chatuge for a long weekend camping and the truck started shaking. Watch to find out what was going on and see what we do to work on a solution.
    We hope to see you out on the road soon!

    My F350 came with Goodyear wrangler a/t kevlar E rated. So far wearing good 80 psi in rear 60 up front. Glad it has 18 inch rims.

    The way I check my tires is just jack up the truck and put a length of 2x4 wood 1/4" away from the tire tread ,spin the tire and it is easy to find the bubbles in the tires. I do the same thing with my trailer tires. No need to take the tires off the truck.

    I also hate the fact that the nexen tires also pick up every little pebble on the road.
    I am constantly prying out dozens of them every day.

    This is my second ram 3500 DRW. One was 2017 and now 2021 ram DRW. Nexens tires are the worst. Had to replace fronts on 2017 after 18,000 miles. Then the rears after. Now have 15,000 on new truck and fronts and back tires are wearing bad.

      This isn’t Nexen’s fault this is Ram’s fault for not using Nexen’s CT8 HL tire. Which has a significantly higher load rating and also costs substantially more! Nexen makes very good products, which I have been using for years. This is 100% Ram’s fault.

    I ditched mine @ 36k miles. The biggest improvement was doing the Theuren manufacturing alignment specs. My front right tire would wear out quick, now not an issue.

    I thought I was the only one who had this happen.
    All my nexans did exactly the same thing.
    Funny how the tyre companies said they had never heard of it happening.
    If you have them get them off asap.

    Get the Michelin Agilis Crossclimate. I have the same truck and nearly the same TC. I couldn't be happier with the new tires. I almost made the mistake and upgraded to 19.5. The Michelin handle the weight well.....Bryan

    I have always had good luck with Michelin‘s. I replaced all my tires once they were 5 years old even though I had plenty of tread left. I carry a camper with Single Rear wheel and don’t want to chance a sidewall separation. I hope you get your Tire situation resolved. Safe Travels

    I ran those factory tires for 50,000 miles without a problem, towing my 5th wheel about 10,000 of that. I did replace them with a Toyo AT2's. Went to a larger size (255/80x17). Puts a little more meat on the ground and a little more height, 33 inches.

    I hauled a 9.5' Lance on a single rear wheel 3500 for 27 years, and had two separations over the years with two different brands while on the highway. Luckily, I was able to get pulled over before blowouts. My third set of tires were Toyo, and didn't have any problems. But I wanted more piece of mind, so I replaced that 3500 with a new dually, so at least there are backup tires back there. BTW, it has Michelins from the factory, so hopefully I'll get a long life out of them.

    Hey……. Do you think the weight effect the tires as you said in the previous videos, the weight is more than 40,000 lbs. Thanks 🙏 keep it up 👍

    I believe, I used to buy those tires years ago!( save a few bucks) Nothing, but bad results! It pays to do your research and pay the extra$$ to get a good quality tire.For safety 👌 first.If I remember correctly, the interior side of tires ,litterly desintetated! Scarey shit!

    Hello Todd and Carla!! Loving your videos.
    Well I have my new to me camper first one. 1997 Lance 990 legend. Love it so far. I have a 2010 ram 3500 dually like your old truck but earlier model too. Anyways I just had tire issues myself. I had 6 or my bolts shear off, Luckliy I stopped in time got towed on a flat bed since I had my camper on back.
    My question you had aluminum rims too right? And thoughts on that verse steel? I probably have to buy new rims since the one got wrecked.

    Todd i have a 2018 Ram 3500 with a Arctic Fox 1150, i never felt comfortable with the factory Nexen"s after reading of people having blowouts etc, swapped to Toyo M655 19.5's and Vision Heavy Haulers 19.5 wheels, what a huge difference, yes the 19.5's wander a bit in the beginning like you've probably heard of but that has pretty much stopped after a few thousand miles, but they are far and away beefy tires than the Nexens, good luck

    • @RunawayRoses
      @RunawayRoses  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Combatvector,. Thanks for the feedback on your 19.5's. I'm seriously thinking about those but it's hard to know if it's worth the extra expense. I sure like the way they look. Thanks for watching!

      Yea I bought the tires and wheels off the internet for 3000ish and had a local shop mount and balance for 400ish but these tires are supposed to last for a long time

  • @downbytheriver501

    Time to get some Toyos! I've been through 6 sets and have never had a problem. and I off-road a lot. With truck campers. Best tire on the market is the toyo at3. Super grippy in all seasons.
    Also, do you have wear in the middle of your tires? 80 psi on the fronts seems like a lot. I usually have my fronts at about 60. but they are 285/75/18s, so they don't need to be aired up as much in the front as a factory tire. (this is with a northern lite 9-6 on also)

    • @RunawayRoses
      @RunawayRoses  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The front tires have work evenly. On our dually it calls for 80psi on the front and 65psi in the back. Thanks for watching..

    You need put a tire on there that will hold all the weight and it's going to be a 10 ply at least or you will be on barrow time. I have BF Goodrich on my Roadtrex 10 ply and I enjoy them real well.

      I would think the RAM 3500 would already come with an E rated 10 ply tire as it's designed to tow around 30,000 lbs.
