    The thing that "tastes like soap" actually tastes like rose. It's rose-petal flavored "turkish delight". But since you don't use to eat or make sweets out of rose petals (like Greeks do) you associated with soaps, where the rose essence is used in the West. But it has nothing to with glycerine or soap (of course), or soap taste. It just has the same aroma as rose-flavored soap (and smell is a big part of taste experience, so you associated it with that). If it actually did taste like soap, you'd spit it out in a second 🙂

    The beer ΒΕΡΓΙΝΑ is the name of the village( and region) VERGINA where the museum-vaulted-tomb is, of King Filippos the father of Alexander the Grate in Macedonia , next to the city of Veria. You spell it the same way..
    And ΑΣΠΡΟ ΑΛΟΓΟ means white horse and it sounds like (a)spro (a)logo . You put the tone in a. For everyone to know so they can find it easily. Your video was exquisite! Thank you so much for showing our country to the world!⚘
    I hope you can come again and travel in the islands or meteora, or Macedonia(Thessaloniki-Veria--Kastoria-Katerini....) or Peloponnese...
    and try some of the best food-palates of our traditional cuisine.
    Have a great summer wherever you are!!

    The soup was excellent choice because the materials (fish) are what we call by the hour meaning that they just got out of sea. These kind of little fish taste better if they are cooked on spot. Another excellent soup and favourite of mine is eggdrop soup with lots of lemon and stuffed meatballs with rice. This recipe is also good with chicken or with those meatballs wrapped in cabbage. Many don’t like the last choice but if you cook the cabbage with a piece of dried bread in a net hanging in the pot they don’t smell at all.

    Guys maybe you had a miscommunication there? 12 euros for one oyster? I'm sure the owner meant "one (plate of) oyster" even if you wanted to clarify and asked him back "12 euros for one oyster?" I'm sure he would reply "Yes for one oyster" (again meaning, OF COURSE for one plate/one portion of oyster) When you order "one potatoes" you get a plate/portion of potatoes.
    Even in your own country, can you go to a restaurant and order ONE oyster? Nobody charges you by the one, it's a restaurant, they have plates of food.
    great video, I enjoyed it a lot, great job on the food, the sites and the cinematography. You both are very beautiful people.

    When was the last time you ate soap? What you ate is a loukoumi. Also known as Turkish delight because the Turks make it too. They're a flavored firm yet gooey jelly-like candy dusted with icing sugar. They come in a variety of flavors, orange, lemon, mint, and rose petals
    which are probably the ones you ate. Rose petals is quite a unique flavor and an acquired taste if you never had them before.

    Nice TH-cam channel guys, both alternative and bon-viveur!! 🎉By the way, although living in Athens, I didn't know taverna Klimataria! 😅 But keep in mind we don't eat every kind of animal in Greece, some animals like dogs, cats, horses, are considered seriously uncivilized to eat. We eat fish, lamp, pork, chicken!!Although we have a quite cruel tradition when we roast lamps for cooking during Easter holidays.😢 Also, there are many middle- aged people working in food market or tavernas who don't speak proper English, they just translate greek expressions!! So, when we say "one patatoes" in Greece, we mean one plate of potatoes... Pretty much that was the misunderstanding you had with the oysters! Love you guys, keep up the nice work 👍

    I am puzzled by the fact that you had the chance to taste taramosalata which is rarely served to small restaraunts or tavernas here in Greece in everyday menus. It’s mostly served in every house on a particular day every year called Clean Monday which signals the beginning of the 40 day period before Eastern. That day everybody eats mostly seafood like oysters octopus kalamari and also halva but definitely not dairy food or meat because of the diet that this period demands. You were so lucky and also the octopus was a nice touch.

    • @Itwasalwaysme_Noone
      @Itwasalwaysme_Noone 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Are you Greek? All the stuff you said is true, except that you'll find taramosalata almost anywhere and all year around. Yes that particular day (Clean Monday) all the people will eat it but we eat it all year around.
      I understand that if it's not lent many people would prefer to order some cheese dip (tyrokauteri) or eggplant salad or any other kind of dip that's why you may haven't notice taramosalata but it's always there if you want it. And it certainly goes with fish meze and ouzo, so people who drink ouzo will order it more often.

    • @Rousseau4469
      @Rousseau4469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Itwasalwaysme_Noone actually yes. But taramosalata is more on the menu of special tavernas named tsipouradika not in ordinary tavernas. Tsipouradika are mainly serving seafood and thus this salad exists as an option. The particular taverns didn’t striked out to me as a tsipouradiko that’s why I was surprised.

    Hello, May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED."
    God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin.Then, to grow up & die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, & murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) & stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
