Dishwashers usually use about 2 minutes worth of running tap water so if you are able to completely wash your dishes in 120 seconds you are better off hand-washing. Otherwise especially for two or more people homes dishwasher saves water by the buckets.

Dishwashers recycle water so instead of just getting new water every time the dishwasher uses the same water
