I like the videos. Its nice seeing other experienced riders picking up this KLX. The D605's are actually my tire of choice, but I constantly go back and forth on the idea of switching. I have brand new Trakmasters sitting in garage. Everytime I put knobbies on, I hate riding any amount of pavement and cant wait to put the 605's back on. I learned that after years of enduro, my offroad skill is good enough to ride "playful" fast with the 605's aired down 10 rear, 12 front {offroad under 40mph} and avoid or slow down for the little bit of mud where I ride. Another aspect is that I know the tires cant carve corners, so I dont ride like a moron inviting a hard crash when out solo. That has led to a lot more enjoyable days exploring, if I want to rip 30 miles of pavement into a town for gas, beer, food etc I just air them back and actually enjoy the bike for how smooth it is. I have a 45t rear sprocket to go with the Trakmasters, I will put them on for a camping trip to sandy trails this summer. Then will switch back.
I couldn’t agree more. I DO think the 605’s are great for a true 50/50 set up. I think the stock gearing is great for 50/50 too. You are right just gotta ride smart and know what you can and can’t get away with. I’d love to see some video of that camping trip you mentioned. I have a 52 tooth rear sprocket laying around that I’m gonna put on for fun one of these days. 😆
I have the 2021, and its a great bike, great video from a different perspective. I live in NH, but grew up in TN and all. So ever in your country for a visit, I look forward to riding some of these trails. Great video dude!
I'm thinking about picking a 25 klx 300, I was worried about going up hills on it and being able to go a decent pace. But you said you're 6'6 280 and that thing is climbing no problem! Me being 5'9 150 lbs I think ill be ripping up hills no problem on it!
@@DerekDualSport hey man, no judgements from me! I was merely using your size as a power to weight comparison to me! As long as you’re happy and living the best life!
Heck yeah buddy! First gear on these KLX’s will tractor up just about any hill. Check back in sometime if you pick one up, I’d love to know your thoughts on it.
I figured you were tall but not 6'6"... I am 6'4" 285 and went with a 2024 KX450 due to my height and weight. Sitting on the 300 felt like a moped/mini bike. I wish Kawasaki had a bigger Dualsport!!
I wish they had a bigger dual sport too! A KLX 450 id buy in a heartbeat. I gotta say upgrading the springs and adjusting the sag made a world of a difference.
I've been to BMMSP on my 2008 WR250R. Awesome place, but almost 2 hrs from my house so I always trailered it there. Did you ride or trailer the 300 there? Also, where else in NC do you ride?
Just picked mine up 2 days ago identical to yours. Had the SM version back in 2010 when it was still carbureted and 250cc. I’ve had bikes of all kinds but small displacement dual sports are always what I go back to. Did you go with a slip on or is that all intake noise from removing the air box boot?
Yeah there’s just something really fun about these bikes. Believe it or not stock exhaust and stock intake, I just have a microphone right in the fender bag, so it picks up a lot of noise and exhaust.
I’m a big guy too. Your bike sounds like there’s a buzz or washboard sound a lot of times. Did that get worse after going to 13T front or get less when getting stronger springs? It’s driving me nuts on mine. I think it’s the chain on the guide but not 100%.
I am not sure about the buzz I don’t hear it much when riding. But I put a microphone in my rear fender bag and it picks up a lot of those vibrations in the video. It may be the chain guide. My chain guide actually broke off. Definitely check yours for damage
I have heard the same thing about them running lean, but I haven’t noticed it. I would definitely recommend this bike it’s great for beginners and also a lot of fun for more experienced riders. It’s a dirtbike that you can ride on the highway what’s not to love.
Great bike. Been on mine for 5K miles, mostly offroad. Bike is still more capable than I am skilled. NolanRides enters hare scrambles on his KLX!
I bought a new 23 KLX 300r a month ago. Just waiting for warmer weather right now. Can't wait to get it out and have some fun!
Your a big dude. Got me by about a foot and a hundred pounds. Looks like the bike handles your size pretty good. Ride on Buddy
Yeah I was a little surprised at how well it hauls me around!

Thanks for sharing the ride on 1B. I'll have to give it a try next time I'm there. I've only done the family trail and 1C.

Absolutely, I still haven’t lost any weight 😂 you will have no problem getting up hills.

Just got the klx 300 d-sport I know what your saying about the front tire. Great bike!!!
Congrats on the new bike! You’ll have a blast.
Awesome video! I'm Curious. What you're wearing for gear?

I definitely need to check that place out!
What area do you live in?
I’m in Jacksonville, NC (Camp Lejeune).
Did you try any other dirt bike before you bought the klx ?
How is the klx on the highway? Great video.

does the klx have cush drive on the rear hub?
A lot of people say that bike runs lean is that true. Would you recommend this bike

I want one but Australia won’t let them on the road
How far from Charlotte?
Hour and 20ish.
Downshiffffffft
It'd be more fun if you got out of first gear
