- I thought I would try my son’s 2014 KLX300 After having done some mods and suspension setup.
Bike only has 80 miles on it so far, so I’m trying not to go above 4000 rpm for the first 150 miles as per kawasaki’s break in period.
It’s a fun bike and i enjoyed riding it. I think I’ll enjoy it more after the break in period.
just picked up a klx 300sm for myself 2 days ago, love checking out how people setup their klx!

Hey Awesome! I have a '24 KLX300 now and have been adding some miles breaking it in. It sounds like it has an exhaust leak, but could be the Ricochet plate, my bike sounds exactly like yours but when 'under load' with low RPM (Bogging) it sounds like exhaust is escaping at the head flange (Or it is the skid plate rattle....) I've broken the 4000 rpm rule having driven mostly on roads to the ~130 miles I have on it now.... I was able to find footpegs specifically for the KLX300 with the mount offsets better for more clearance to the brake/shift lever.
Iv had 2 of the EFI 250's, they are great bikes. Fixed up an old DRZ for a project and sold my KLX a few weeks ago. The power of the DRZ is fun, but it feels 50lbs heavier in the woods than the KLX and doesnt handle near as good either. Air lid off, 13/42 or 14/45 sprockets and KLX really are good for trails. Gonna ride the DRZ rest of season, might make a profit off it next spring and pick up the grey 300 and do a ARX Navigation Tower on it. Kind of look cool
Yea definitely going to change front sprocket to 13.
You guys should come out to some of the rallies next summer. Giantloop in OR, Touratech In WA, or GetOn ADV in SD. They all have tons of beginner to advanced. I went to all three in 2023 and they were a blast.

Picked up a 24 KLX300 dual sport myself! Bum thing is I thought it’d be a great Idea to sprain my right wrist the day I was supposed to pick it up, so it’s been sitting in the garage for 3 weeks now 🤦♂️😢
Damn. Sorry to hear. It’s a fun bike once you set it up to for you. I have a ktm 890 adventure r that i ride on trails and single track and i love it, but riding the klx on single tracks is so much fun also.
I added richochet skid plate, short levers, bigger foot pegs.
o2 sensor, pair valve, kickstand and clutch sensor deletes.
Better foam filter.
Once my boy gets used to the bike, I’ll take out the second throttle plate, take out the air filter snorkel and will add power commander fuel controller.

Nice looking bike. I wouldn't recommend messing with the exhaust or intake without a fuel controller mod, like an EJK.
Yea, I’m leaning more towards power commander.

I might get one these..first cosmetic mod id do is get rid the green in the graphics with darker grey than the bike but lighter than the klx
Kickstand delete????? What mean by that, you have the kick stand down now as I'm watching the video
With the kickstand sensor delete, you can start the bike in gear and kickstand down
@@rayrokni my bad bub. Alot of guys take the kick stand off n I just didn't understand what u meant. I should've known but wasn't thinking there bub. But glad you cleared me up on that because I'd do same thing you did.
