- Canon Selphy CP1500 is a Photo Printer that will be mostly used for printing from cell phones, but can handle even traditional sources like SD Cards... I managed to add this printer to my Windows 10 desktop PC via Wi-Fi. I do NOT use the Canon app. Instead, I print directly from Photoshop, which provides the greatest control of color and image composition (ie: cropping). I can also add text to my images using Photoshop, which allows me to use any of the fonts installed on my computer.
I like the output from the CP1500 because the prints are durable and the inks are archival, meaning the photos won't fade or discolor after only a few years.

Had the pleasure to visit Prague in November of 2021, girlfriend and I brought our mums along. Beautiful city and easily one of my top 10 places in the world along with nearby Vienna. What is the color cartridge for the Canon Selphy cp1500 printer, and the cartridge is enough for how many photos

I just received this printer and noticed that my photos come out rather warm/yellow and low res compared to the images on my phone, do you know if there is a way to correct this? Your photos look so vibrant and sharp compared to mine. 😩
Hi, it is hard to give you any advice without seeing it, but generally, photos will always look different on a mobile display and on a print. Also, be sure you print from a good data, from the original size of your photos, it all should work... Jan

Tammy, hi, I have to admit I tested just a couple of printers, so I am not able to give you a really balanced advice... I quite liked Canon Pixma G540 - good results for a good price, but there must be more good options... Best, Jan
Question iam using rp 108 then i buy kc18if card sticker. Do i have to replace the ink or just use the rp 108?
Hi Jerome - frankly, I am not sure, I tested only the biggest "postcard size". I would presume you need to change it.... Certainly, when you buy the card size, you will get ink as well... Jan
Dobrý deň, rada by som sa opýtala. Plánujeme kúpiť a využiť túto tlačiareň na účel tlačenia fotiek na svadbe.
Chcem sa preto opýtať, je nutné tlačiť fotky len cez aplikáciu? alebo je možné, že bude na wifi tlačiarne prihlásených viac mobilov, ktoré si fotku vytlačia cez galériu telefónu. ďakujem.
Dobrý den, díky za dotaz, a ano: 1. k tiskárně je možné přihlásit více mobilů, ale každý z nich musí mít aplikaci. 2. Aplikaci jde ale připojit k externím zdrojům fotek, například Google Photos nebo Instagram. 3. Ano, jde tisknout i bez aplikace: do tiskárny je možné zasunout SD kartu nebo flešku a tisknout přímo z obrazovky tiskárny. Což určitě dává smysl právě třeba na svatbě... Ale faktem je, že to není moc praktické ani pohodlné (ve srovnání s tiskem přes aplikaci... Držím palce, JR

Hi Ronald and thanks! And yes, I am told the paper/ink is full compatible with the older version. Not exactly sure what you mean by "wifi compatible"... You do not need to have a wifi network to use it: the printer creates its own for the connection with the cell phone... Jan
How does the paper compare to a standard print paper you'd received form a lab such as Fujifilm Crystal Archive?
Hi Anthony, you mean the quality of the paper? It is hard for me to compare, but generally speaking, it is just a "very normal" photo you would get in any lab... Jan
Thanks for the review - do you think this printer could work well for a photobooth station where the camera is tethered to a computer and the printing is done from the computer?
Do you find it overheats and bottlenecks after many prints or it is pretty steady?
Shay, hi... Well, I did not try the printed under heavy load, so I am not able to give you a precise answer. I tested direct printing from a card, it works, but frankly, it is not that comfortable like printing with the app... So a photobooth station for a small family party, sure, more professional usage, not so sure! Jan

Hi, well, it is strange, i tested the printer with exactly the same smartphone, iPhone 13 Pro, and the results were good, as you have seen in the video... So perhaps some other issue would be causing it... Jan
Great content - very well presented. The paper seems quite thin and may crease easily.

I’d just like to better understand the type of ink/papers… i mean what’s the main difference between RP-108 (package 108 sheets) and KP-36IP (package 36 sheets)? I cannot find anywhere the difference… thanks
Francesco, hi and yes, I am sure the number means number of sheets... Just check, if the KP-36IP is really compatible. Should be, I believe, but these things can be tricky... Best, Jan
@@jan-rybar yes indeed… the crazy thing is the huge difference in the costs, compared to the number of sheets in the package… here the 36 sheets cost around 24€ whilst the 108 sheets cost almost 40€

Hi, my understanding is that when you buy a box, you have exact amount of ink for the number of prints. So a packing of 108 papers and 3 ink cartridges (the one I had) should just be enough. Jan

Hi Mohamed, I believe the official name for the postcard size is KP-36IP or RP-108.... The number means how many papers will you find in the package... Best, Jan
Does this printer connect to Canon Cameras and can i print directly from the camera?
Hi, I think it is not possible - if you mean connecting a camera to the printer with wi-fi and sending photos to the printer from the camera as such. But you could connect the camera with a cable (and use it as a sort of USB stick)... But it would still be more reasonable to remove the SD card and plug it directly to the printer... Best, Jan
Thank you. 2 questions - were those 3 separate ink cartridges that you load in or were 2 of them backups? Also, can you print 2 photos one sheet?
There were three cartridges for the box of 108 paper... And yes, in the app, you have many options and templates, so you can print many photos on one paper...
What is the label of the box with 108 sheets and 3 inks? Kp108?

A question, please, does this printer work with electricity only, or does it have another way to operate with the battery without electricity?

Hello, HDR photos are generally out of the scope of any printers, it is - at the moment - extremely hard for them get them in printing close to what you can see on, say, mobile phone display... So I am afraid, this limit will be here for some time... Dark mood photos should work fine, I guess... Best, Jan

Zdravím - mělo by to být tak, že každá "krabice" (náplň plus papíry) je navržena tak, aby vše vyšlo. Tedy já měl tu 108 papírů + 3 náplně... .Ale použil jsem zhruba třetinu a myslím, že náplně vydrží víc (byť samozřejmě záleží na tom, jak budou rozložené barvy)... JR

Hi, generally, you should not have this type of problems - because you always buy the papers with the color toner cartridge... it is all in the package... Jan
@@jan-rybar - That's my general understanding, but as with normal printers, the different colors are used up and need to be replaced at different intervals, how do the colors evenly wear out, at the same time. Replacing the ink/paper packs, without needlessly throwing away ink?
How many photos does the cartridge prints?
Generally, the cartridge should be able to do at least the number of photos which it has in its name (like 108)... But mostly, it would last longer... Best, Jan
Can you use your own 4 by 6 paper?
No. The dye sublimation paper and ink is a combo deal.
Have somebody use canon selphy with a batery? How many images is posibile to print with a full batery?

Is the size of the photo same in 4R prints?
I think it is very similar: 4R = 4 x 6 inches, Selphy size 3.94 × 5.83 inches... Jan
when u print with white border, the border is not equal all around?
Hi, it depends on the size of the photo, the printer tries to fit it, but it the size ration is different, it might be hard... Plus: photos are printed with the white border, which you can tear off... JR

How much photos can be printed with one ink cartridge
The cartrige has as many papers as it can last (at the average), so I you buy a 108 packet, you can be sure it will last at least fot that amount... Jan

Hi, yes, I believe so. I did not try it personally but should be compatible, eg same, I was told...

Not directly, if I am not wrong.. But you can plug in a SD Card or a flash disk and print from them. But, frankly, it is rather "painful" compared to the printing from the app... Jan

It's certainly not very easy to connect to a Windows PC via WiFi. You need to go through about 12 convoluted steps to make it show up inside any Windows application, such as Photoshop. Rediculous.
