      I couldn't agree more. I still feel dumb because I sold it, but I wouldn't even have the space now to use it, so I am happy someone else is getting to play with it.
      A great instrument, with the amazing signature Moog sound.

    Love this to bits. Of the Moogs being produced today, this is the one with the warmest feeling of heritage to me. It has the energy of an old Rhodes, something that's in the family for generations. That vibe, to me, justifies that price and more.

    • @Dexba
      @Dexba  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Couldn't agree more! I consider this the flagship Moog right now, and they put all their best stuff inside of it, making it quite immortal, I'd say.
      I love using it even unpatched, but knowing that the madness is only two cables away.
      My only complaint could be the menu system (yeah, I know, no way to do that differently, but c'mon) and some small build quality things I am not completely appreciating, like the cheap-feeling switches and the two wheels

      Matriarch is definitely a big boy synth, and I consider it the current flagship offered by Moog (I think of the One more as a halo product).

    • @Dexba
      @Dexba  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much: in this first video I tried to keep it very simple, very moog-y, and I love this naturally melancholic side of the Matriarch.
      Matriarch is amazing indeed, to me it felt like I was finally getting my hand on a "proper" Moog instrument, like their old modular stuff.
      I know there isn't much similarity between them, but the raw, rumbling power of the 4 osc, the beautiful stereo filter, simple sequencer, quite powerful modular modulations, and the best analog delay ever created... It has an ancient vibe, and I am all for it 🧡
      Keep exploring, keep getting lost, maybe with the help of my other Matriarch video ;)

    Funny to read the description as I'm dumping my Sub37 in favor of Matriarch as well. Compared to it, Sub37 sounds like a toy. A profound one, but a toy nonetheless. Matriarch has everything I could ever dream of in terms of sound and even coordinates nicely with the modular combo of Mother32+DFAM+Subharmonicon if needed. Stay analog.

      LFO into the multi, then directly into one of the two filter, then another into the attenuverter in order to flip the polarity (and have the sort of ping pong effect!)

    Thanks
    :)

    • @Dexba
      @Dexba  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does! Or not :) It depends if you activate the "Round Robin" mode in the menu.
      Obviously I activated it the moment I unpacked the Matriarch, because there is something magical about setting four very different voices and let them intertwine in the amazing delay ✨
      (just to be clear, you will still access only one arpeggio, and the 4 voices will cycle for each trigger, you won't be able to have 4 mono synths at your disposal)

    It seems complicated but beautiful,I’d like to use it alongside my guitar,and MPC

    • @Dexba
      @Dexba  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a really tricky question!
      From one point of view, it is a quite complete package, with a sequencer, arpeggiator, FX, different waveshape, patch points to increase the longevity of the fun, keyboard, and a gorgeous sound.
      From another, someone could argue that for a complete beginner this could result in some frustration.
      No screen, even the settings menu is taken straight out of some very, very old synth, you don't have polyphony, and maybe without some additional eurorack gear, you couldn't squeeze the most out of the modular capabilities.
      I'd say it depends mostly on your ability to not get frustrated and nurture your relationship with the instrument.
      But a Matriarch is never a bad purchase, both for beginners or seasoned players

When you play this though the valhalla delay and room reverb it is dope. I had the matriarch 2 Weeks and gave it back after i build this patch. But i think it is a great synth. I need to check that and will get back to you, because honestly I didn't notice that.
      I will make my room rumble with some deep basses for you 😁

    This is beautiful!! I got a question, if I create a sequence in moog Matriarch, let's say some bass line, can I fool around with some lead on top of it without disturbing the bass? I hope that I have explained it properly, if you make a sequence can you play over it without rewriting the sequence? Or do I need Looper.... Thank you 🍻

      Unfortunately no! It's a good question since it's a thing I love to do (as you can see on my OB6 video, using it almost like a split instrument), but the Matriarch is actually paraphonic and not a real polyphonic instrument.
      That means you would be accessing the same envelopes used by the notes in the sequence.
      There is one trick, I would probably try to use in my next video, shown already by Loopop: you can extend the time of the delay to a point where it becomes a looper, and with some care, you can enjoy this quirk creatively :)

      Actually you can, to do so however you need to make some changes to the global settings. If I remember right you have to create the sequence first then in global settings you disconnect the keyboard from the sequencer. There's like three different steps to make it possible. I wish they had made it easier but it can be done.

    Yeah, put a ton of echo on it and it's great for ambient noodling. But is it any good in the real world?
