This statues likeness of Christopher Reeves is awesome. In 1980, my sister and I were on Mackinac Island in upper Michigan. We came upon a school house that was transformed into a theatre and out the door in a period costume was Jane Seymour. She was by herself so we walked over and we started talking to her. She was giving us an autograph and had my sister hold her hat. She was asking us where we were from and what brought us there. While this was going on Christopher Reeve walked up to us again by himself, and started talking to us which was surreal since Superman had just come out within the last year. They were filming Somewhere in Time. So we watched a few of the scenes being filmed. A cool memory.
To be fair, most would not call the likeness "awesome". If anything there is a resemblance but that is about it! The call to action piece from Sideshow is a far better statue than this. Great story though.
I own this piece and everyone that's seen it says how much it looks like Christopher Reeves not one person mentioned the seam. As a Superman fan I couldn't be any happy with mine it looks amazing in real life
High End Collectors should absolutely receive product that meets expectations without cutting any corners. I was pretty shocked to see that the chest emblem is a sticker! How? It’s not a Mego toy! 😮
Maybe they were just trying to stay extra close to the source material lol. I mean how else would he be able to peel it off and throw it at General Zod?
It drives me nuts when people mispronounce Christropher's last name. It's Reeve not REEVS! George Reeves played Superman in the 1950s TV show. Anyway, for $700 there are too many problems with the build. Problems you'd expect to find on much cheaper figures. That seam under the chin is the worst. They should have sculped the head and the neck as one piece instead of what looks to be separate pieces that were glued together.
@@markpr73I think people are looking to hard or need glasses this statue looks nothing like routh. It looks like Reeves. Even has his smirk. Is it perfect no but it’s good enough that when I look at it it looks like reeves. It looks better than the prototype. I don’t know how in the world it ended up having a freaking seam though. That makes no sense
Not really a collector myself but thought this piece looked pretty good until I looked up Arnie Kim who was mentioned in the comments. Great Scott! He must be a sorcerer who captured Chris Reeve in miniature. It's difficult to distinguish a close-up of Reeve himself from a close-up of Kim's sculpture.
I had to return mine the minute I took it out of the box. Could not justify the cost for what I got. The horrible head sculpt seam, the cheap cloth used for the suit, and the Cape Emblem not even cut out evenly on the cape. No QC at all
Yeah the chest emblem needed more attention. There are a couple of ladies in Argentina that actually make or made the 1/6 scale costume. Not sure they do it anymore but they made my full size costume. And also his face looks a little to cgi.
Thank you for an honest review. As an action figure and high-end doll collector, I expect my purchases to meet my lofty standards. You have similar expectations.
Chris Reeve's likeness just seems harder to get right versus any other actor for these figures. Not even Hot Toys has managed to completely pull it off.
I was so looking forward to this piece. What a shame…I just can’t believe Sideshow still released this knowing it had these blatant issues. Hopefully Darkside Collectibles Supes will be better.
I POd this day 1 and cancelled it immediately upon seeing the SDCC photos. I debated the headsculpt and knew it wasn’t perfect but planned a repaint thinking that would do it. But this emblems are inexcusable. The cape one less so. But the chest one at this price should have been screen accurate and cloth and stocked into a cutout in the chest. No excuse for these cheap iron on stickers. Sideshow really doesn’t give a crap about collectors is my thought when I see crap like this. Really wanted this to be even a triple. At best it’s a bunt and a stolen base. 😊
I’ve stopped using Sideshow. They were extremely unprofessional with one of my orders and I can’t look past it. I’m done. I’ll get my collectibles through BB Toy Store.
For a piece that big it would have been better if they were able to hand Stitch the s emblem on the chest and make the sculpt look a little bit more like him from the front but it's still a great piece, also good video but keep in mind George Reeves was the 1950s Superman and Christopher Reeve without the S at the end of it is his last name
Quite the contrary, What kills me is that wrinkle on the suit...man that is not so fine to look at. But they do get 75 percent of Reeve there, the paint apps looks good, body and the blue suit is nice too
Christopher Reeve. No s at the end. George Reeves was the first TV Superman. I have issue with the face when looking at the piece straight on. Cape looks cheap and the S on the back looks like someone wrote it on. Otherwise the body looks terrific.
About Everything: I’m in total Agreement! That would be great for us, the Collectors, McFarlane Toys DC MULTIVERSE Action Figures would be Ideal, for the 7inch line! My guess on the seam under the jaw, etc. . .Perhaps they were originally planning on making him look up and point (q.v., famous pose specific to this Superman). They might not have been able to get it just right, or for whatever reason they backed off from that idea. And rather than sculpt a new head, they filled in the joint and made a mold from that. 🤷🏼♂️
That front emblem is a total eff up. It should have been cloth material matching the rest of the suit and not a plastic stick on. How could they screw that up??? It's a no buy for me.
I have this Christopher Reeve piece in my collection as well I definitely agree it could have been done better. The "s" shield should have been stitched instead of ironed on the paint job definitely could have been better sideshow definitely kind of disappointed me a little bit especially the time we all had to wait for this.

Sideshow is really good on things of factory defects, you might contact them send picture of head, if this is not the norm, they will replace it. They cape may have been from a movie prop, which often don't have great details and quality, because when caught on film back then it does show to be so cheap looking. So, if on the dailies if it look good, there be no need to do a wardrobe fix.
There’s like a curse on Superman. They can never get it just right on reeves likeness and then there’s the games. Not sure we’ll ever get a good Superman game.
Very well done statue, but I agree, the chest "S" should've been at least made from fabric, NOT just a sticker. Not sure how much you paid, but minus the "S", I'd say you got your money's worth. They def captured Chris' likeness.
I had this on order, hoping that the sculpt would be fixed. I would disagree that "everyone knows that is Christopher Reeve". If anything, it's a very generic Superman appearance. I finally cancelled after seeing the piece at San Diego Comic Con. Glad I did. If I really need this in the future, I'm sure I'll be able to get it through seconds or heavily discounted. Really disappointed. Reeve is "my Superman" and I really wanted this to be great.
Trust me it looks 95% like Christopher Reeves in real life . Every single friend of mine loves it and all say how much it looks like Christopher Reeves Superman
Mouth and eyes are off, the seam line on the jaw is unforgivable and as for the transfer on the chest!! A fabulous review so thank you for that, but Sideshow really have dropped the ball recently……I often buy my stuff second hand after I’ve seen a ton of reviews and never pre order. Figure sculpt is good, boots and belt are reference and the suit without the silly and lazy transfer looks very good. Overall it’s a 6/10 for me and will not purchase even though I love Christopher Reeve
REEVE. Christopher REEVE. If you can't even be bothered speaking the late actor's surname correctly, you have no business making any videos relating to him.
I just hope Hot Toys makes another Christopher Reeve Figure that looks more like the Christopher Reeve Costume because the Christopher Reeve Superman Figure that came out in 2011 but the costume S chest looks like George Reeves from the 1950s TV Show I just hope Hot Toys gets to see this post because I would like an improvement on the Christopher Reeve Hot Toys figure and plus they are making Ultra 4K DVD release in the Spring so I just Hot Toys would improve The Sixth Scale Christopher Reeve Superman Figure.
I like it, but maybe for $150. NOT $700 for what I saw here. Sideshow now below sub par in quality for it's demanding price. Nope... not even. It's actually a hybrid Chris Reeve / Brandon Routh face.
Looks good. Looks like christopher but a tiny bit off. At least from this video. Love the boots and the legs. Spot on on christopher's anatomy. The head to neck seam is a bit weird, not a super deal breaker. Thanks for the showing.
Looks more like Brandon Routh than Reeve. The mouth isn't done very well, but overall it's an eye catching piece. Reeve is the definitive classic Superman
I could completely disregard your ridiculous review 30 seconds in as you call him Christopher Reeves with an S instead of his correct name Christopher Reeve. You did it at least 3 more times in the review, which tells me you know nothing about him, or the movie, or the character he portrayed. I will give you the crease line around the neck, but since you can’t see it unless you are looking for it who cares. Lastly, the prototype was a photograph and actually has a disclaimer saying it is just that, a PROTOTYPE. And that the finished piece might look somewhat different. This is an amazing piece, and I am thrilled to own one
Fair, he accidentally said it with an “S”. Don’t we all make that mistake cause George Reeves? Quit trying to bring people down to make yourself feel a certain way. He made a mistake that didn’t even need this level of attention. Support people within your same interests. I looked at your profile and you seem to know what you’re talking about, but this comment makes you look unsupportive of people with similar interests and makes you look like an ass.
Not even close to the screw up on the new Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry Piece, The figure looks like Dirty Harry is Black, And Sideshow customer service cant be reached to find out WTF happened, Could be a class action in the Future.
I don't believe it's a complete disaster, overall it looks great, they did a good job looking like Christapher Reeves, but some blemishes, but there will always something people won't like in a figure they get nothings perfect.
I just got mine in the mail, and he looks AWESOME. Is he 100% perfect? NO, but he damn close. Like 90% close. Now you can get a ARNIE KIM 1/4 Perfect Superman Christopher Reeve figure, but it will cost you about $8,000. Im not kidding. Go look up the TH-cam video. I paid $500 for mine, and for the price point this 90% Reeve Superman is a GREAT DEAL. YOU WONT FIND ANYTHING BETTER IN A SUPERMAN REEVE FIGURE. UNLESS YOU HAVE $8000 to buy a Arnie Kim piece. Lol. Thanks for this review.
Why would anyone in their right mind pay for something that is so grossly disrespectful of its source material sheesh respect your hard earned money more unless it wasn’t hard earned then it would make sense.
I'll never spend a single euro for that thing honestly. Zero likeness, horrible head seam line and that S logo in his cape seems designed by a 3 years old kid. Disgusting. Sorry for you man, i can feel your pain but, if you want a suggestion...sell it fast.
Nope! That head Sculpt is 💩. It looks goofy and just plain off. Just looks wrong! Even when the prototype came out everyone said it was off and they went with it anyways! Sideshow failed here!😫

Yeah, Sideshow had that problem with some of their Bond figures. Don't know why they can't do what Hot Toys does.
Likeness is awful. What a shame. That's a NICE figure. Likeness ruins the whole thing. OOF.
Very well done statue, but I agree, the chest "S" should've been at least made from fabric, NOT just a sticker. Not sure how much you paid, but minus the "S", I'd say you got your money's worth. They def captured Chris' likeness.
I mean, maybe get his name right if you're gonna do a video...
Won’t get my money
Thank for watching
Mouth and eyes are off, the seam line on the jaw is unforgivable and as for the transfer on the chest!! A fabulous review so thank you for that, but Sideshow really have dropped the ball recently……I often buy my stuff second hand after I’ve seen a ton of reviews and never pre order. Figure sculpt is good, boots and belt are reference and the suit without the silly and lazy transfer looks very good. Overall it’s a 6/10 for me and will not purchase even though I love Christopher Reeve
Just a small thing. His name is Christopher Reeve. Not Reeves.
The nose is too broad across. His nose was thinner than that. The shape is right, but not the width of the nose.
REEVE. Christopher REEVE. If you can't even be bothered speaking the late actor's surname correctly, you have no business making any videos relating to him.
From the front he looks like the actor Ken Wahl from the movie the Wanderers.
The way he coughed when the camera went to Supes junk told you a lot about this guy
I have the old Hot Toys Christopher Reeves Superman and that headsculpt looks better.
How much did it cost?
Call to action Superman was to me their best Superman
TBH it doesn’t look that far off from the prototype. And that didn’t look like Christopher Reeve either.
This is seriously criticized for free. An underrated holy grail
Besides the emblems and seam line, I think it's super.
Looks awesome 😎👍
I'll never spend a single euro for that thing honestly. Zero likeness, horrible head seam line and that S logo in his cape seems designed by a 3 years old kid. Disgusting. Sorry for you man, i can feel your pain but, if you want a suggestion...sell it fast.
That head sculpt is bad. And It's Christopher Reeve. Not Reeves. You spent this kind of money and don't know the guy's name?
So glad I watched this video. Definitely cancelling my order
Ive had it for weeks and have no issues with it all
His name is cristopher reeve!!!!!! No S
Nope! That head Sculpt is 💩. It looks goofy and just plain off. Just looks wrong! Even when the prototype came out everyone said it was off and they went with it anyways! Sideshow failed here!😫
Christopher Reeve.
You do realize it’s Reeve and not Reeves?
REEEVE! REEVE! His name is REEVE! I'm not going to bother watching your video. Enjoy the comment.
I apologize for that. I know it's Reeve but I for some reason say Reeves all the time. I don't know why. Bad habit of mine.
Uhhh... to me, this looks like a chinese Wish type knock off. I would expect better from Sideshow. WAY better. If this is actually their product, I do not think I would want to spend the exorbitant amount of money on it that I know they will want.
