ABS / ESP / STEERING LIGHTS ON THE DASH | WEIRD CAN BUS READINGS AT THE DLC | VW PASSAT

THIS VOLKSWAGEN HAD ME SECOND GUESSING MYSELF. AND ALTHOUGH I WAS ABLE TO FIX IT THE CANBUS READINGS STILL MAKE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME. MAYBE SOMEONE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS IN THE COMMENTS DOWN BELOW. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING.

From the DLC those wires are just a diagnostic can bus to the gateway control module. The only time there is messages being transmitted is when a scan tool is connected and requesting information. So pin 6 and 14 at the dlc only go to the gateway and nothing else. Your scan tool has to actively be requesting information for you to see activity on those can lines. All the data you are reading from the car is just relayed through the gateway. I have a video on this VW gateway and DiagnoseDan has one and he goes into more detail on it then I did.

Pins 6 & 14 at the DLC are just going to pins 9 & 19 on the gateway. You would have to check pins 6 & 16 at the gateway module to see the network that the ABS module is on. Nice video Thanks for sharing!

At pins 6 and 16 at the gateway module (the one under the dash i showed at the end) i had the same readings of 2.4v plugged in and i was probed into pins 6 and 16 thats what i found odd. But at each module those can wires are on the signal was solid. Thank you for taking time to comment 👍🏼

You are checking the gateway and not the car network. Your dlc is connected to gateway and gateway to rest of car

Thank you Brian, i also did test at the can bus gateway, the reading was the same ( the wires coming from abs/ecm/tcm), thats why it is odd to me.
