Daisy has a lifetime of experience in public service and is currently caring for her mother living with dementia in Pontypridd. Prior to this, she has held senior roles at the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Action on Hearing Loss Cymru (now known as RNID), Cwm Taf Morgannwg Mind, and the Welsh Refugee Council. A passionate advocate for the rights of older people, dementia and age friendly environments: Daisy has led and implemented national reviews that have changed Welsh Government policy, legislation, and practice to enhance the wellbeing of older people in communities pan Wales.
At Action on Hearing Loss, Daisy was invited to Chair, the Welsh Government Task and Finish Group on Dementia: Hearing Loss and Deafness, and draft the accompanying Ministerial report. The recommendations of which, led to changes in the dementia assessment process, and a recognition of the links between untreated hearing loss and dementia.
Daisy has also worked as a consultant with the Wales Ambulance Service NHS Trust on creating dementia friendly and sensory aware emergency and patient transport environments to reduce distress and disorientation in older patients.
