GREAT VIDEO -- this totally helped be!!! I was having this exact hip pain he is discussin -- I was doing the too much "step & throw" movement in my lower body. It was turning into a very tight type of sway ----- I was shifting my weight with my lower body but I was not turning enough and I did not know how to change this, until I watched this video. GREAT, thank you so much.

I'm here as a disc golfer mostly but grew up playing golf. A throw in dg and a swing have more in common than you might think and this video helped me to stop getting past neutral w my hip. I'm getting more lag on my throw which helps me accelerate the disc harder at the very last moment of the throw as each lever is passing each other later in the swing than they used to. also, no more hip, even knee pain... I was really overpowering my shots with my back leg bad. Thank you!

I was experiencing that exact pain, in my left oblique, to a point where I could not finish the swing, four and a half weeks on the sideline. In the meantime watched this video, put in practice the drill, and when I healed took it to the course. Still having to think about it, but this one change has produced no pain, less strain, and straighter shots. Excellent drill!

Excellent video! I have two artificial hips and I just started playing golf again about a month ago. My left hip is very sore after practicing swaying to my left and then turning. This video makes total sense and I could feel the difference right away. Thanks!

2 years ago I started having lead hip pain (my left hip, right handed) and it got so bad I had to quit golfing. I loaded up on Ibuprofin for a couple months and pain went away. But every few months it would return, even tho I was not being active, not playing golf, nothing. I put this off for 2 years. Finally had an MRI Anthrogram and diagnosed with FAI and Labral Tear. Let me tell you this is a terrible injury, very painful. You won't be golfing and the only fix is surgery. Because I waited so long, my labrum was beyond shredded and instead of being repaired, had to be removed. It is not a part of the hip you really want removed but I had no choice. So now doctor said sometime between 5 and 15 years, I will need a Total Hip Replacement (even if I never return to sport). There has already been cartilage damage due to the torn labrum flapping around in there. I wish I had seen this video 3 years ago. I was definitely doing the improper shifting that he shows here. Would have saved my hip!

Jason Rachlin yep. Labrum tear is about a 9 month recovery!

Great drill. I've dealt with hip pain for some time now. Aside from just the relief this is great just in general for the start of the downswing. The slide drill is pefect to get the feeling thats needed and away from the outside feel to pull. 💪⛳🏌️‍♂️

Any thoughts about hip pain on trail hip, front hip is fine. Could the backswing be causing this issue. The pain seems to be present later, not during the swing.. so its kind of hard to pinpoint what is happening.

Thank you I have been trying to identify my hip pain. I thought I pulled something follow through stretching in my PVC swing ring, trying to swing down the line more. Its been slowly going away, now I can lift my leg into my pants. I find myself re-injuring it if my foot catches a solid object moving. I have been worried. I am flat, have a late release and slide the hip forward way past neutral...who knew! what can warm up my hip area before playing, so I don't tweak it?

There are several stretches you should try and do before hitting balls. We have a section on the website for stretches and fitness or you can google Hip Adductor Stretch, Hip Rotator Stretches, Hip Flexor Stretch. Just make sure you are performing the stretching properly and take your time. Foam rolling is also a good idea. - Chris Tyler

Paul of Tingley , I was wondering this pain only when putting from left knee to left back is a result of age just gone 64 , loss of mother to covid 19 therefore although not conscious of greif im not relaxed? Maybe its my mothers spirit having a dig at me , ha , what do you think.

I read your hips going too far back on your back swing.

    sooooo….
    1) when the club face is behind ball, the point of the shaft is “off-set” with the actual club face.

All due respect, modern golfers seem to be injury prone more.....Brooks, Tiger, Jason day etc....Brooks and Day dont have Tiger 's tenure yet! So modern golf instruction is surely suspect.
