Happy to see you back Rick! Glad to hear all is well. Some really nice cards and yes you have a great collection so you shouldn’t have been surprised watching the videos! I didn’t realize 41 PB is the only set with all three brothers. Great Clemente!!!!
Hi Rick, You're right about finding joy in your own collection while also appreciating the cards others acquire. We all have different budgets and priorities in life. A great collector isn't necessarily the one who writes the biggest check for high-profile cards-there’s so much more to it. As we discussed via text, that could be a video topic or livestream on its own. I hope you can get your Ryan and/or Ted Williams cards. I love seeing a Mickey Mantle card in a video. It’s always a special feeling when you add one to your collection-at least it is for me. It never gets old, even when I pick up one of his magazines from his playing days. It’s Mickey Mantle! I enjoyed hearing the stories behind the cards you acquired. I’d take a '64 Topps Maris to make up for tax-such a great card with him looking up. I wonder what he’s staring at. Maybe Mantle hitting a home run in batting practice. The pose on the Roberts card is cool-so stylized and very '50s. The '54 Topps set isn’t a favorite of mine, but I do like, and have, the Spahn. Love that '50 Doby. Thanks for sharing. Have a great rest of the weekend.
Terry, Someday when I stop procrastinating, we need to do the what makes a great collection live stream. Regarding Mantle, everytime I buy a Mantle, I say that's it, no more Mantle's, but then another shows set with a Mantle shows up on the horizon. hahaha Maris was staring at the group of reporters he still didn't want to speak with. lol. Warren Spahn has a lot of great cards. I think only 1965 is one I can honestly say I don't like. Thanks for watching, Terry!
Rick, thanks for the video! Really love the '54 Spahn. I've been chasing that one for a while but haven't found the right one. Also, a beautiful '50 Feller!
Thank you! I've had that Spahn for years. It's probably my favorite card of his. The Feller card is definitely my favorite of his. Thanks for watching!
Man, those knee woes will ravage you! I'm one of the lucky guys I know who emerged without the need for surgery -- so far. Good luck with that 1961 high series. When I was a boy and we did everything mail order, 1960s, I once asked a company what they would want for the complete high series, and they replied $4.95. Well, from the point of view of a preteen boy, they may as well have said $100. So I passed. In retrospect, I should've promised my parents to do extra chores for a couple months just to get the money. Those 1950 Bowman star cards you showed are just such stunning poses. That's when they did real artwork, not color splashes and AI.
Michael this is my first knee issue and don't like it. HAHAHA. The one thing I am lucky in regards to 1961 is that I own all of the All-Star cards, but the commons aren't cheap. So far, I'm paying $10-$15 a card. $4.95 was A LOT of money back then! I saw a company in 1974-75 selling the 1971 set for $25. My brother and I cringed, I keep saying if we had bought those cards as kids, we wouldn't have them today. Who knows? 1950 is definitely a nice set. If I can get the Williams, a lot the more expensive cards are out of the way. I hope to buy one this year! Always appreciate you watching!
Hey Rick, hope your knee get better in time for the Burbank show. I'm hoping to live vicariously through your eyes since I won't be going. Have a great weekend my friend.
Thanks Mike., I hope to be better by then. It's just taking way longer than I thought it would. I am new at this. I hope to be sending you loads of information!
Hey Rick…nice job on that ‘68 set run. Do you also have the All Star cards from that set? Those 50 Bowman’s are some of my favorites especially that Feller and Doby cards. Beautiful 👍
Thank you, Todd! 1968, yes I have the All Star subset. For 1968, I am only missing Aaron and Ryan. Yeah, 1950 is a beautiful set. I hope I can finish it someday. Thanks for watching!
Hopefully I can get to the Burbank card show one of these days. An 8 hour drive doesn't sound like a fun time though. What's the closest airport to fly into to go to the show? Love the '64 Maris!
That's a great question, Jim. The summer show is in Anaheim so you'd want to fly into John Wayne but the winter show in February is in Ontario which is right next to Ontario International. Anaheim is bigger but they're both very good shows. Let me know one day when you come down and we can meet up. Yeah, that Maris is a nice one. Almost makes up me having to pay sales tax on the Ted Williams card. FYI I drove six hours up to Sacramento last month and I think that's what jacked up my knee. Flying is smart!!! Thanks for watching!

Hi Mike. All is good. Have you recovered from the national yet? I knew you'd like the Clemente. HAHAHA!
Have a great weekend!
Great pickups, Rick! Nice looking mantle and all the rest. Hope you get to feeling better.
Thanks Eric. Knee is slowly coming along. Yeah, that's a nice Mantle.

Love the pickups Rick. I am just diving into the 1950 Bowman set. It really is a neat set. I am just 12 cards into it. We will see how deep I go.
Chuck, are you going to do the set all graded? It's a good looking set. I hope yo'll be able to go far. Thanks for watching!!
@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector yes right now I am pursuing it graded.
@@ChuckNorthSideGuy that's going to look great! I am only doing the HOF guys graded. Best of luck.
Great episode Rick !! Frank and sons used to be the spot for cards those toy rose must have taken over more and more over the last 5 years.
Dylan! Yeah, Frank and Sons was a lot better ages ago. I may go once a year now. You have to come out to Burbank. If not this show, the next one!
@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector i will be coming yo Burbank at some point for sure just not this year ha ha 👊🤙
Yes, sir! We’ll see you soon in Anaheim, my friend!
@@DiamondyardSportscards HEY! You're the first person I am looking for!
Nice cards Rick
Thanks Peter. I hope all is well!
