I left this as a reply to someone below....and figured I might as well post it at the top since I spent so long writing it lol I have dissected, repaired, and customized a lot of ice lights in my lab. I repair and calibrate industrial electronics and process control equipment. This is half of my business. I’m also a nerd and have enjoyed watching the progress of electronics over the past 15 or so years. These cheap LED flashlights are amazing… And tons of the electronics available cheaply these days. It really is a golden age. I’ve written a bit of detail below about my experience with modern Chinese manufacturing, and LED flashlights in particular. I’m very impressed with some of the lights available cheaply today. The bottom of the barrel stuff is nice… Like this $2 in your video. But the intermediately priced stuff will absolutely blow your mind. I’m talking stuff that ranges from $10-$30. I literally run my headlamp 16 hours a day. I work 12-15 hours a day in my workshop on electronics and woodworking stuff… and I work at least six days per week. I’ve invested over $1000 in a lighting setup, that is completely adjustable, Efficient… And custom-made for my working style and the type of work I perform. And don’t get me wrong… You couldn’t ask for better lighting than I’ve built into my workshop over the past five years. But I use my headlamps instead. Because no matter how expensive and fancy your lighting is… You can’t beat a perfectly bright and cool running LED that is only inches away from the detailed work I’m holding in my hands. It follows my line of sight and moves with me,… Something my fancy work lights can’t do. I’ve tested headlamps from most brands on the market Over the last 12 years. For years I used $150 petzl headlamps made for cave explorers. But over the past few years, China has gotten very good at producing cheap and good quality headlamps. For the past two years I have used a “Nebo rebel” rechargeable headlamp. I bought it on a whim one day when visiting my local hardware store. I walked in Ace hardware and saw the Nebo brand display… And began playing with one of their display models. Since half of my business is industrial electronics repair and calibration, I did what any geek would do and disassembled the entire light right there on the store counter. I was very impressed. I was impressed with the quality of aluminum and machining/threads. I was impressed with the quality battery with custom charging and protection circuitboard. I was impressed with the quality of the LED and optics. It was obvious the company spent a lot of time and care designing this light. So I purchased one. I think it was about $25 with the included magnetic charging base and elastic head strap. (The most comfortable headband I’ve ever used by the way) That was over two years ago, and I’ve used it so much that I had to buy another. Not because it broke… But so that I could switch them out in the middle of the day. It lasts at least 6 to 8 hours on the low power setting. Therefore instead of buying a $10 replacement battery… It made sense to buy an entire second light . I can’t live without this thing. I’m sure it was made in the same factories as most of the cheaper Chinese lights. Probably the same factory as most of the other intermediately priced Chinese headlamps. Like olight, sofirn, wowtac, nightcore, thrunight, etc..... Keep in mind… Most products in the world share similar factories. What I mean is… Whether were talking about flashlights, pocket knives, bed sheets, or laptop computers…It’s common for a single factory to have hundreds of different bulk buyers. Each buyer will rebrand and market their product differently. Products are mostly the same but the difference is in quality control which isn’t always great at the factories. So should also be done by the client/reseller. Let’s say there’s two brands who each purchase 1000 flashlights. All are the exact same model, and the same factory. Brand “A” purchases the flashlights as cheap as possible… performs no quality control on their own. And doesn’t hold the factory accountable if their product becomes sloppy or cheapened. But brand “B” tells the factory that they will be performing their own Quality control, and that they expect the best from the factory. They tell the factory that each light will be inspected, and if quality remains consistent, they will be a long time customer. They may tell the factory to use a better quality LED chip, or a better battery, or maybe they have some requests regarding a thicker anodized coating. They may have to pay a little bit more but we are talking Penies. That’s the big difference between a $2 flashligt purchased on aliexpress..... And a $25 flashlight purchased here in America from a local hardware store. The $25 flashlight and the $2 flashlight are The same model from the exact same factory. But the expensive light has had much time are care taken in its design and in communication with the factory. The expensive light has quality control, Nice packaging, marketing, and probably a warranty or seller contact information. Don’t get me wrong… That’s not always the case. Sometimes you’re paying 10 times the price for the exact same thing. Just a prettier box. But Companies can’t get by like that in the longterm. I know from experience that many times the extra price comes from better quality control and more thought taken in the design. Maybe a few dollars extra spent here and there but that can increase the quality drastically.… I have been blessed enough to be behind the scenes look at how this stuff works. I’ve been extremely lucky and I’ve worked extremely hard… I was into import/export as a side business for almost 25 years. Everything from industrial equipment, process control electronics for large factories, jewelry components and Gem Stones... Hell even high-quality handmade violins. I’ve visited the makers and distributors dozens of times and been to hundreds of international trade shows. I spent years learning how all of that works. So I have a Little bit of understanding when it comes to these things. Not a lot mind you… I only understand a small bit… Just a drop in the bucket. But I’ve seen some of this stuff first hand, and have personal experience in this area. AndIt works the same in many different industries. Anyway… Sorry to ramble. It’s just an interest of mine. It ties together several interesting things.
Thanks. I have a number of LED touches and I simply want them to turn on and off and none of the blinking mode. I thought the control for that was in the end switch but it looks like its near the led which is far more accessible.
LED torture, nice :D These flashlights are great for the price, even with BS numbers. I have a Bailong one, which is a pretty much same thing, but a different shape.
thanks for the video Mr. Diodegonewild, can you make a video of how to build a flashlight with all the component etc. I just bought an expensive brand name flashlight for work and it was disappointing, now i'm doing research to build my own i'm thinking anywhere from 900lm-1600lm but i want to build one that is not going to overheat etc.
The flashlight you ask for is designed in the same way and will be able to radiate a maximum of 350-500 Lumens if the LED chip is not overdriven. In addition, I can only recommend the type of zoomable flashlight if you can live with the manufacturers' lies as they work pretty well compared to the $ 5-7 you have to pay for the light.
LED torture is most flashights and i bought one and it is really powerfull. Mine in full power is drawing 0.8mA , a bit more but still good on 3W threshold
agree with you. But it seems still a good deal, got all interesting feature, rechargeable + nice look + not so bad led, so better pay 4$ than buy crappy model of 1$ or 2$ ((
I was lucky to get the other $2 flashlight with an sane led what was really nice and had in the hidden part with opens when u zoom Police - serial number in white what was funny but I feel it was gotta be better if it was with the % regulator and with an 3.7 v battery
I like the quality of the torch, a good contact on the switch. The bullshit lumens is no supprise, lieing gits!!, but it seems bright enough. The question is, will the battery contacts play up like all the 3 aaa batterys in a holder type. All the 3 battery cheap versions have to be slapped to make it connect correctly, they work when first cleaned but after a week or two the oxidisation has its evil way LOL :-D
I also have the 3xAAA torch, yes, it is completely useless. You have to slap it 10x to get it to work for 1 minute and then it dies again :D. That's the pain of the low voltage high current circuits. But this one seems better, having just 1 pair of contacts.
Wow u know your stuff! Best light I ever bought was Fenix EO5. But it's $20 Been trying find a DURABLE $1 or $2 flashlight for years because these engineers are cursed or evil or both. No common sense and they literally sabotage products for money. Stabbing customers in the back. Lights designed to break. LED lights used to run cool. I despise bulky flashlights with cooling fins. A light should almost never be more then AAA sized. The whole point of led is that it run COOL. If a light has cooling fins u already know it is going to suck battery. A flashlight casing should smoothly shrink fit a battery. Period. I cannot even hang AA light from my neck. Too bulky &heavy. I have zero electric bill because I use flashlights. I do not need or want a blasting light as bright as the sun that blinds my vision like a camera flash. I prefer on off switch only because more parts means more evils these demonic engineers can incorporate. The best lights I found are skywolfeye cost 99 cents to $1.39 shipped eBay. There are 6 models of skywolfeye 8000 AA size. E504, E505, E506, etc. I also like the skywolfeye B6 AAA light (99 cents shipped) This brand seems more durable. Others break in one month. I hang the lights from ceiling and use them in a headband. I use coconut oil on all threads and contacts because engineers deliberately make contacts that corrode. Do u think it is OK to oil contacts? The oil also stops water seeping into the threads. If u know of any other cheap DURABLE lights let me know.

My led of this torch has quit now - no more light. its not the electronics, just the led itself - tested it. Maybe it was getting too hot?
can you find "Tactical LED Flashlight G700 Skywolfeye x800 zoom" and test that also please?

Pity that this model is maybe not available anymore. Similar current replacement model is Skywolfeye 20000 lm flashlights for 4 $.
agree with you. But it seems still a good deal, got all interesting feature, rechargeable + nice look + not so bad led, so better pay 4$ than buy crappy model of 1$ or 2$ ((

idk if I've ask u about making a tazer from near flashlight but I had one of top 2 $2 flashlights
Just that heatsink it has the noname my one is very smaller i did not expect any chips on it really @_@
My newer one like the noname has same heatsink on the led o.O
I like the quality of the torch, a good contact on the switch.
