  • For anyone who is interested in how a conventional match rig is ploughed I’ve filmed a video with my drone of myself out ploughing today, it covers most of the different bits to ploughing the rig apart from the scratch which is the first run(I forgot to hit record button) and the chip is not included, this is then the soil is thrown into the centre of the throw out before the feering is made! Ins and outs were a bit sqeewif!! Thanks for watching.

I know nothing about ploughing with equipment from this era but my grandfather was a farmer and I vaguely remember seeing him at ploughing matches. I would like to find out more about it and this video really helped me so thanks for that. Being above the equipment gave me a better understanding than when filmed from ground level. Some explanation of the plough and adjustments prior to and during ploughing would be great if you fancy making another video. Thank you Paul

Great plot of ploughing and demonstrates brilliantly the basics of how to complete a match plot, if possible it would be really helpful to those with less experience to cover the main adjustments for each stage (opening, crown, ins/outs and finish)

Great video, lovely work… agree ref the ins & outs but straight as a die and sharp edges which is the difficult bit. Massive traction too… must be ballast in those tyres, track width is wider than I’d expect too.

I don't like the untidy ends there must always be a scratch to mark the headland very good workmanship otherwise

Have you any history of the tractor? Notice it has a Banffshire registration number.

The tractor was sold out of Morayshire tractors to a fella John R Gordon in Lower Cabrach, that’s where the tractor spent all of its days!

I can give you measurements for it and you could get a local blacksmith or engineering shop to make you it? the blacksmith I got to do mine is always very busy with big jobs and I had chase him on a bit 6 months after I had asked him to make me it!
