My first car was a 79 Sigma. I loved that old girl. Didmall thenqork on her myself and she made it to 380,000km. 24 years later still I miss her and would give anything to have another.
Love your little story about your Mini mate. I had a ratty 1275 swapped 69 Morris at the time of the Newcastle earthquake (87 or 89?) twin inch and a half SU's, 2" system with a stumpy hotdog and it turned out unbeknown to me at the time, a lightened crank from a speedway donk. Leaky hydrolastics, Aunger 4 slots, bf goodrich's and flares it looked (like) shit hot and sounded awesome (in my head lol). The CBD of Newcastle was off limits to all other than residents for a month or so after the quake, and I have great memories of the noise brapping that thing around town commuting to work. When I could keep driveshafts and uni's in it. Ahhh memories. You've done a great thing saving this Siggy Benny, nice job. Here's a photo of me doing a single spinner smokey in my GH "big block" wagon back in the day. i.imgur.com/rGLsoFd.jpg ✌
The Siggy sounds bloody awesome. Hope Jeff brings the afferrari to the next one. Well done on the siggy mate, it looks like a really fun drive for the road.
Reminds me of my brother RS2000 running twin 40's. Boy did that thing pick it's skirt up. Seemed pretty quick back in the day. 😉 It may not be fast but so long as it makes ya smile Benny 👌
Love your petrol mates, Benny! Much more "us" than "I" to most of them- it is hard to not have a great day 'round folks like that! Saw the Orange Porsche- Jeff should be firing the Alfarrari up soon! If I can get back to Oz some time soon I'll be looking for the NSW crew! FR
Don't sell the Sigma! I loved watching this. I had about 5 Sigmas in my 20s around the late 90s. The 2.6s with Webbers were a lot of fun for a young fella....That station wagon caravan at the meet up🤣
Once upon a time, far, far away, New Orleans about 1963, I drove a bootleg Frog Eye and threw papers out of it. It had lost it's trademark front end before I bought it for $75, not running; a good battery and a carb rebuild later and I was on the road. Aside from throwing papers, that little car showed me how much fun driving a "slow car fast" was- and likely learnt me enough to not die on the road! And if it isn't fun to drive, than why did you build it? FR
Haven't heard boot rattle that epic in years! That takes me back. There were a whole bunch of nice rides in the film. Congrats on the Siggie completion. It def has a ton of what too many cars have lacked in the past decade+, character. The kind of car you get in and it's an event every single time.
I had a 76 Celica Coupe 18RG massive cams and twin 45’s button clutch steel 5speed 265’s on tru spoke rims . The engine was out of a sports sedan racer sounded just like the sigi but quicker all the way to 8grand ! Loved that car !🥹🥹🥹
I have to say, the Sigma sounds great! Plus some very nice motors as well 🙂👌 There's even some content for the Agents at Cold War Motors - and a Woodie for Hoovie! 👍👍
Even though I have watched Jeff's 911 being built and it is a lovely car that gets used properly I would of been more interested in the Sigma. Because when was the last time you'd seen a Sigma, in any condition, and thought about how many there were on the roads years ago? Also for that reason it would've been in my Top 5 or 10 cars I would've been the most interested in for the same reason. It even looks excellent driving on the roads. Great video.
Yeah unfortunately don't see many of them around aha, whenever I get my one out (77 Sig/lancer) always getting people talking about how it was their first car or they learnt to drive in one. and I just ask, where the heck did they all go. I need parts 😂😂
@@sebsshenanigans my Uncle bought an LA new then rallyed it through the end of the 70's and into the 80's. My mother had a blue LA. Then she had a brown LC hatch. I see yours is an LB Lancer, from the headlight fitment video you have posted. So I have subbed your channel :D

Just got home from work and was for some Harry Mack Omegle Bars vids, but then saw this! ... Ah! The Y31; I got about 2 seconds of footage of that one :/ Oh, and I missed out of a couple streets of cars. Doh. Super cool vid though. Thx, Ben & Gian
Nothing, I mean nothing comes close to the sound of dual choke weber/dellorto's. Even injection and ITB's still can't replicate that sound. Sensational build. I can't ever remember seeing a Sigma that nice, not even in the 70's when they weren't old yet🤣
Cool ride-loved seeing (what I'm guessing is) your 510 Wagon in the video! It still sometimes makes me chuckle to hear folks talk about a place like Mittagong (with July records being a high of 20° and a low of -4° C) as "freezing cold weather" when the place I hail from in St. Charles, Minnesota during the doldrums of February, has Record temps of 14° / -38° C, and we average snow half the month. AND I'm sure that someone from Alaska or the Yukon Territories would laugh at my numbers. Anyway, thanks for adding your car's mechanical and metallurgical distinctiveness to the video ("We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own") haha
It sounds bloody brilliant, the only thing the SIGMA is missing, one of those black louvres on the back window, there were some nice cars there, great video Benny 👍🏼👍🏼
The patina wagon is my favourite, it’s a factory 9 seater and was an ambulance in a Pennsylvania mine in a previous life. It’s been rebuilt from the ground up mechanically but the body left in original state.
Yes, it brought back memories of an 1100 mini yes a Cooper block... Twin su's peco exhaust and launching it off a humpback bridge at 30+mph nearly ended up in the pub bar literally. But just scuffed the exhaust and the sump. Good shocks helped and 12cc wheels. Now to replicate will cost 20000£+ and now medically can't drive due to epilepsy. Damn lol Be safe out there and Drag week, all the best to yo and your friends. Peace 🤙
The Camaro SS (REBA number plate) with the dog riding shotgun was funny. Only later did I realize the SS cover for the trunk was going to drive me a bit nuts being a little off kilter and haunt my dreams. th-cam.com/video/t2kqVNqxbxA/w-d-xo.html You've now seen it, too.
@@BennysCustomWorks I showed my Papa and his custom '68 RS was really similar! I bet it's fun-he had a th400 with a 400 SBC and he said it would do about 0 to 80 miles an hour in ~8 seconds and then it wouldn't go any faster due to the rear end he put in it 🤣
This was a fun watch. Some more of these types of videos would be great. Would love to see some spirited driving with friends videos. Assuming that's something you do.
Hey Benny, Love the Sigma mate. I drove one when they were new and they had some go in them for a small car back then. Will finally check out the new venue at the the next one. 👍
Great video, sigma sounds nice. By any chance were you passing by Wodonga this morning Benny? You over took an orange xr6 sedan in the ute towing a little trailer.
My next door neighbour in Darwin back in 83, smashed his 78 Crown and transferred the drivetrain and most of the interior into an EH Holden Special. Of course it totally transformed the car LOL

Wow Berrima punches well above its weight Top turn out and very nice induction noise now I wanna piss of the Holley and get triple Webers on the Charger
That Sigma is awesome. Funny how times change. Ask me if that was a cool car 25 years ago, (would have been 21 at the time) and I would have pissed myself laughing. Now, It looks and sounds magic. Top work!!!
The cost of fixing the massive amounts of rust, being as most of these cars lived on the front lawn/unprotected from the elements, and the bodies weren't galvanized didn't help them dying off either.
Mad car Benny! You have the tastiest taste in cars.

Listen to that little Astron sing...
I learnt to drive in a Sigma that my dad restored so this is really great to see
Don't think I'll ever be as cool as parrot man.
Don't think any of us could be...

Had a Te71 Corolla with twins. Had a bad day, go for a ride and everything was good again.
How did I miss this upload. Sounds the ducks guts. Red Abarth 595 behind gets a thumbs up too ;)
Thumbs up to the Healey guy. I have a ‘55. :)
Memories of my 63 Cortina with twin 42's and a big Cosworth Cam....
This was an entertaining series Benny that hit us older blokes right in the feels. The look and the sound takes us all back 30 years.
