Every episode but I had no idea! Such a big boat! Seeing is believing. Also for me it's all about the word truss and truss systems. Not so much a nautical term but any boat has plenty ~ the spreader on the mast, the boom vang, and the bowsprit arrangement. Your "forebeam and longeron" is so cool. Thanks for sharing the details. Truss truss truss....... I don't know ~ for me getting this out in the open gives a view to an all new ballpark. The skills that you guys have. ~~ Bravo ! Thanks for sharing all of this. 〰✨🌿👍🌿✨〰. I have been following the construction of your cat almost since the beginning with the exact positioning of the two hulls. And I can certainly understand some of the design preferences you have made in light of your years of sailing experience. I can also understand the proficiency of gifted DIYers to be able to complete the boat renovation that you previously undertook. But where on earth did you obtain the knowledge and expertise, the familiarity with all the necessary materials and everything else involved in the monstrous project of building a boat from scratch? I am completely awestruck by what you have accomplished as, no doubt, are your other regular viewers.
What a beautiful boat to tool around in! Could make a solar panel based "bimini top for" extra range on sunny days. Might be interesting to see how much slide-out/fold-out solar harvesting could be done on that vessel and what it could do for range... Since windage would affect stability, being able to adjust the solar cells(trim the sails so to speak) would be important. You might end up "sailing" your solar harvesting eBoat!
Cool CLC boat! Kim and I are in the middle of building a CLC Eastport Pram for a new dinghy. I imagine you guys are getting excited about getting out onto the water soon. Not far now!
@@MJSailingYes. We hope to see you out there some time soon. We're starting to get a little tired with working on the boat. If we don't run into any hang-ups, hopefully that will be this winter.
It's actually spelled Phalange. That was the name of my dad's boat. It hot It's name because he built it with the accident insurance money he received when he had his finger cut off in a workplace accident. 😂😂
@@quarlow1215 huh, that is a finger. I am talking about a rim of an item. Jessica and Matt had a habit of inserting an extra a into flange. I have teased them a couple of times during the build of their soon to be beautiful cat.
Jess, you need to find some smaller guy, hire him, and let him get into all those tiny spaces for you. Sometimes spending the money is worth it. Take care. ❤🙏
With the rudder being mounted higher in the protective channels on the sugar scoops, will it still have enough effective surface to control the boat adequately?
matt, Those rudders and transom is Going to be quite the involved project! Are you out of tent for good ,since your adding bows, I guess you are?? Cheers warren
more impressive as each month goes by. I would guess those nose cones must be just right to track correctly while sailing. Are they neutral or toe in? out? left or right? would the track they make create strength a certain way?
question, when the boat is made at the mfg.. does the hull get made in a mold, and not in so many pieces as you are putting together. i am guessing that all the pieces that you have is because of shipping
Good stuff. I know the caps on the end don't really add buoyancy and are to hold the rudders, but I wonder if the extra length gives a slightly higher hull speed as well?
Matt & Jess very Awesome Catamaran will you use a Different Material For your Rudder Material? Will you Vacuum Bag the Rudders for better Strength! How About a Color Hybrid Fabric? (Carbon / Kevlar Fiber) Matt what weight material will you be using? Let me know in a Reply there Could be a Surprise.
The factory sent us the rudders already, so luckily I don't have to worry about making that perfect foil shape. But they were infused and have a crazy amount of unidirectional in them. Our daggerboards are all carbon, but the rudders are just E-glass since the "kick-up" design helps to eliminate some of the dangerous impact loads.
i noticed your rudders are at the very back. i think that there was a problem on the sea wind 1600 where the ruddee control system had to be redesigned…
The 1600 has had a redesign. I haven't seen what changed, but we'll talk to Harbours Unknown when they get a bit more time with their new system and see what they did
I say finish the kitchen bedroom and toilet then go sailing. I just saw a show where the guys paid workers in Thailand 15.00 per day. That means 10 guys for 150.00 per day. Sounds like it will be ready in a week!!!!.
Third comment. Got a like on the vide before it started. That said and video watched… you both going to install the bow cones on soon? Can’t wait to see those joined.
I’d like to say that I’m enjoying your videos from the years past to your build videos, but I’m not. Your build videos are boring as hell. I get that you are all in on this project, but many, like myself, are all out. Sorry.
Composite longeron and forebeam is a giant mistake, huge! Weight saved on such small components are not justifiable and way too little to have an effect on performance.
Your cat is looking great guys! And congrats to Ryan & Sophie - their roadrunner is nothing short of absolutely gorgeous!
Didn't that turn out great?!
great video
Love the new cones, she's really taking shape.
You both are doing a monumental boat build, way beyond the scope of most landlubbers. Good ‘O.
My dad, who built three of our houses while I was growing up, is still in awe of what it takes to build a boat, haha.
Looking Great
Do you both sit back in amazement what you have accomplished?
Yes, and it is much easier to do now that she's sitting outside and we can see more than just her stern. 😊
Such a Momentous Project, Fair Skies and Plenty of Pizza....

You two are awesome 👌 its looking perfect.
Thank you so much!! 😍
I like the dual split seagull striker to give room for the furler drum. Nice design.
LOL 😂. I’m sure it’ll pay off. Have fun 🤩
In terms of self satisfaction, it sure has so far!
it is looking amazing! congrats

Hope to run into you two at the boat show again.
Thanx fore writing degree Celsius 🤜🤛

You have beautiful blue eyes❤
I've been following you for a long time
I'm a welder and im telling you all, there is nothing better than shiney steel..end off 🙏👊🏻
It will be so satisfying when we finally get those pieces on!!! 😀
❤😂lol shiney news steel is beautiful old rusted steel a nightmare.

Every bit of waterline length helps. Not sure if we'd be able to record a difference, but I'm sure an extra two feet helps
Parley Revival cat did record higher speed.
The Great White that gave one of them a test chew in NZ a few months ago was pretty interesting..

How is Georgie doing?
She's ok. We take her to Tucker's farmhouse up the road once a week so she gets the chance to eat fresh grass and run around a large house. 😻

Guys how much hours you put in this boat?Im subscriber from time when covid lockdowns were main thing...Do you have help or you two do all alone?
