    The greatest selling point for me was the value. 2500 vs 500 cycles is a no brainer. The quirks you (and other reviewers) mention do not annoy me. I'm just happy it performs as well as it does. I'd probably be happy with a Jackery...but the battery type and the price won me over. Thanks Tristan! 🌲🌲🌲

      Do you actually believe this will last to see more than 500 charge cycles? What do you think the odds are that it will? How about over 2500? Get ready for a huge letdown in the future! And if you plan to depend on anything made in China for real emergencies you`d better have a backup unit!

    I am not an electrical engineer (although I am an aerospace engineer) so I cannot speak entirely as expert on power stations, I offer these plausible reasons for their design. I think the fans that constantly run both in the unit and wall transformer are to gain efficiently both in charge and discharge. This may be one of the reasons it’s performance specs are better than others. I also think the battery indicator is appropriate as both inline measurement circuits both create some level of bleed and are not super accurate. It appears Bluetti engineers recognized this and erred to reliability over unnecessary display. In general I think they focused on efficiency and reliability over bells and whistles. It was interesting what the reviewer said about the power lights. I thought this was a negative until he mentioned how it is great when you are sleeping. Again I think the Bluetti engineers may have been more sophisticated in their design than we are giving them credit. I hope this helps.

    • @sebkeccu4546
      @sebkeccu4546 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the conversion rate is really bad even with the fans on. I got 190watt input while my power meter was showing 230watt of electricity being drawn (17% off loss). I'm gonna purchase another charger to see if I can find a charger with less power conversion loss. It also doesn't make sense to let the fan on when no power is being drawn at all. For discharging the wall fan is not involved so the fan should also not be turned on. The strange thing is that they have a red light turning on when the charger is charging, so they have some intelligence in the charger, but they didn't connect it to the fan.

    I think the other benefit of those 12v barrel ports is that they're *regulated* 12v vs the standard 12v car port which will provide decreasing voltage as the battery life is consumed. This is a problem if your fridge has a low-voltage cutoff, so the 12v regulated barell ports solve that by providing a consistent 12v.

      If you don't have a 12V (cig lighter adapter) cord for the CPAP, getting one will save a significant amount of power draw. If it's a compatible CPAP, of course.

    • @baw909
      @baw909 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Curt. Make sure that you get a battery that matches the voltage of your wife’s Cpap. You can recharge that battery off of a power station during the day (like Bluetti or Jackery). But you need to have a battery that can work with the draw of the specific Cpap. Also, I found it impossible to use my humidifier with my Cpap because it takes too much power. In that case, I will heat up my distilled water before sleep (on the stove) and put the warm water in my chamber, and it is adequate enough. “Finding a battery that’s compatible with your CPAP machine is an absolute must. Not all portable batteries are compatible with all CPAP machines.” You can read a lot of information here: www.sleepfoundation.org/best-cpap-supplies/best-cpap-battery. And another informational site is: cpapsupplies.com/blog/batteries-and-battery-back-up-for-your-cpap-machine/
      We use the Freedom Plus battery. Interesting though: in the 4 years we have had the two, my husband’s has become slower to charge and quicker to discharge. I haven’t looked into why or if it is time to get a new one, but otherwise we find them great and also use them for charging our devices at night; then recharge them during the day. Hope this helps.

    2:52 oh crap I thought my display was dying! 😂 Thank you so much for another really thoughtful, well organized review. As someone planning on getting on the road, my dream has been a Jackery, but that launch show they did REALLY turned me off. That is exactly the kind of corporate schtick that I don't appreciate and am looking to escape. (Not to say that if they sent me one I wouldn't be ecstatic and grateful lol.) At the same time I was seeing the launch of this Bluetti and I am definitely looking to support a more consumer friendly company. Hopefully, by the time I get out there, they will have worked out some of these kinks, the most important being the way it communicates the state of the unit through the display. I definitely need that to be more functional. Thanks again for all you do. Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!✌

    Excellent review. BTW, I use those DC 5.5/6mm outputs both to the fuse box I installed in my DIY camper van. My lights, ceiling hatch/fan, refrigerator, some extra cooling fans, and some USB charging ports are all powered from the fuse box. The 6mm barrel connector (Jackery) ports are nicer to use than a cigarette lighter. They seem to stay put better and stick out much less. The 6mm ones are hard to find. I buy Goal Zero accessory cables to get these basically pre-wired, and then cut off the other end of the cable. Nobody seems to know what to do with these, so nice to see you had a use. I think Jackery just copied Goal Zero, and others basically copied Jackery. Now that I’m using them for my fuse box, I would hesitate to buy a unit without them. Like you, I run everything on 12VDC. If I needed to plug in two or more AC devices, I would just grab a power strip for my Jackery 500. Actually, for my van, I have a 25’ spooling extension cord with 4 plugs, just for whatever I might need it to do. For example, if I want AC outside at a picnic table, then I don’t have to pull the Jackery out of the van (which would unpower the refrigerator and disconnect the solar that is on top of the van).

I've been using a Jackery 240 for several months and it has performed beyond my expectations running my lights, a personal fan, an evaporative cooler and charging my cell phone and other rechargeable batteries; also a small drone. Just recently I added a small Alpicool C20 refrigerator but I want to keep it separated from the other electronics. I 'm looking at getting the Jackery 1000 or even the 1500. On charging while just passing 80% suddenly charging stops and it reads 100%. Under load just dropping below 50 % the unit shutdown . . . powered back on it read 0% . Really no more accurate than a 5 segment bar indicator.

    Just got the Bluetti AC50s. I overland from a Jeep TJ. It works fine for my needs. I'd love to have more capacity but 500wh at will have to do for now. I charge off the Jeep when on the road and convert to solar at the site. Mostly runs my ICECO fridge. Don't like the battery graph either. Actually the other two buttons also turn on the screen, so it is not just the led button that turns on the screen. However it still remains valid that the screen should have another button. And that charging should have it's own led so that you don't need to turn on the screen to see if your device is still charging or not.

      Bluetti actually sent me that one first, but I sent it back because I didn't like it. I thought it ridiculous that the minimum voltage input for solar was 36 volts, meaning that you have to have basically three 100 watt solar panels plugged into it at minimum to charge it via solar. I couldn't just plug my one rooftop solar panel to it, which was a dealbreaker for me. But everyone's use case is different, so if it works for you, great. I liked the unit otherwise. Thanks for watching.

I'm glad you didn't go into the technical stuff because I don't understand it anyway! For me, the Bluetti was my choice. The Jackery had been on my wish list for a long time but once I researched the Bluetti - I was done. I chose it for the battery life, the multiple plug ins and I also like the flat surface on top with the phone charging ability as icing on the cake. BTW, I agree with you - the light is in the wrong place and is annoying. Will I ever own a Jackery? Maybe but I'm enjoying the Bluetti so much that I see no reason to consider changing companies. I enjoyed your easy laid back demeanor and not know it all presentation style. I subbed.

    After much research I went with the Bluetti. There was a lot of the “6 of 1, half dozen of the other” and when faced with a really difficult choice, the price is the becomes the deciding factor. The Buetti unit with the solar panels was the price of the equivalent Jackery unit alone.

      I can`t afford to waste over 500 dollars for their ripoff 200 watt panel and they deliberately designed this so it can`t be charged fast enough off grid with anything else. I`ll bet you a million dollars you`ll never get anywhere near even 1000 charge cycles out of this thing before it fails. These things are disposable junk. Regarding the "..if I had $800-1000 to spend.." question, it would most certainly be the Bluetti again. The more expensive models don't suffer from many of the Cons you mention. I agree with your gripes regarding the screen and such but IMO, niceties of the Jackery will never overshadow its shortcoming of 500 cycles. The Jackery uses the same battery tech that's in your smartphone and there's no denying we see degradation in those batteries. The fact that you haven't 'seen' degradation yet is anecdotal at best. Nice review tho.

I was getting ready to buy a Jackery and like you I would rather use a Jackery for many of the same reasons, however, the fact that this powered your little fridge for 3 days and the Jackery 500 would do maybe a day and a half is huge. The main purpose I am getting one of these for is a fridge in my truck. I'm not really overlanding but pretty close. The biggest reason whcih is a no brainer is the battery type and the life expectancy. This will make the $500 allotted for such gear go tremendously further than if I was to use a Jackery.

    Normally when I camp I charge from the vehicle. However the need for such a unit does indeed come in handy. Wattage makes all the difference and Li-Ion is a must honestly till something better comes along. Harbor Freight has a small genny aka Gator for 100$ that is 2stroke and easy to use for when solar, wind, vehicle, and electrical outlets are not available. Really handy Gator to have around for charging when other power sources are not available. Better to have all my issues covered when it comes to my family’s needs.

    Inaccurate info regarding the Jackery battery life cycle. If you drain it to 0% and recharge it to 100%, you can do that at least 500 times before you lose the top ~20% of the battery capacity. If you keep it between 10% and 90%, you increase the battery life cycles by 2x, so then you can cycle it over 1000 times before you lose the top 20% of the battery capacity.

    Great review of the EB70. The new Bluetti EB55 solves the cheesy light situation on the EB 70. The EB55 now has a light panel on the back similar to a large number of other power stations. Bluetti has also increased the light levels on the power buttons. The EB55 unfortunately still has the same the battery charge level indicator as the EB70. On the other hand, Bluetti put the inverter from the EB70 into the EB55. That allows the EB55 to handle loads up to 700 watts, which is handy for devices that have an initial draw of more than 500 watts.

  • @markpashia7067
    @markpashia7067 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing that heavily impacts the use for a 12 volt fridge is the number of cycles of the compressor due to ambient temp. Yes, in theory it could hold for three days at home, but in my car parked in the sun in Florida and locked up while at the beach it was only good for a day, maybe a day and a half. When I went to Arizona I found that by putting a sun shade black out panel in the window to keep the sun off of the fridge I could get a day and then top off the Bluetti at night in a couple of hours then set it back up. I was wishing that I had two of them to swap but I didn't It would be better in a cooler climate or if I could park in shade. Not an issue really if you are with the car and can open windows but if you are hiking or such and want to lock up, you know how heat builds up in vehicles. And hotter the temp around the fridge the more it cycles to keep things cold inside. When road tripping it is great with the car charger plug but that is limited input due to style of the plug and it's limits. I usually set up pass through so Bluetti to car for charging and then car charger port from bluetti for fridge. That way when fridge is running it is about the same draw as the input, but when compressor stops the car is charging the Bluetti during those times. No real drain during daytime driving and actual charging gain then at night when cooler it is drawing down the batteries. But if you stop for days at one spot, you need to charge other ways, either plug in or solar. But again those folding solar panels are a target for theft so if you go hiking do you risk leaving them out for someone who wants them more than you do? I cannot afford them to be stolen, so I have to stay around camp with them in sight if solar charging.

    • @markpashia7067
      @markpashia7067 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another item with these things. If you can put solar panels in full sun and the unit in shade you are getting the best performance from both, so long MC4 cables are a good thing. I love it if I can park in shade and put my panels in sun. Just be sure the long cables are the right size wire for that length. One place I camp that really works well and since I am around I can leave windows down on car also. Best possible set up for me. Me in the shade reading a book, fridge in the shade at lowest ambient temp around it, and solar panels in full sun to get max charging. The worst I have had was in the desert with no shade and not being able to charge due to being away from car. That roof panel is looking like what I need for my RAV4 in those cases.
