What a beautiful place. You made me rethink how I camp. I mostly go to national parks and I'm always going from one viewpoint to another. I need to find a campsite by a creek, sit in my chair, relax, and forget about the rest of the world. I'm retired but I still rush too much. Camping should be relaxing and slow paced. Thanks for the idea and another great video.

You're the opposite of me, I've been on the road for years all over the country and almost never go to national parks. Too many ppl for my liking. As you can see in this video there are tons and tons of stunning places with no people and just as beautiful as national parks

I do the same thing when I travel, move from goal to goal. I find it hard to just stop. I just finished reading a book called All the Beauty in the World. It is by a man who was a security guard at the metropolitan museum of art. It is inspiring me to just stop and watch.

As a fellow nomad i cant pick one place. Ive had many places all over the country that make my jaw drop. Some even make me emotional. The first time i saw the redwoods, first time i saw the rockies, the black hills, lake tahoe, crater lake, hurricane ridge and olympic national park, the area between leadville and aspen, the high road to Taos, etc. You could spend a lifetime in America seeing stunning place after stunning place. My 2 favorite places to explore though are most definitely colorado and oregon/washington. Every single state in america has beautiful scenery somewhere though. You just have to find it

I really appreciate the positive attitude you have on these adventures. That really came through when, after finishing some unpleasant looking bushwacking, you note - "Oh, I could've just walked along that lane by the lake." And you were still able to say it with a laugh.

Grand Mesa is indeed a treasure both summer and winter. We took our 3 kids in the trailer one summer, fishing, hiking and Bar-B-Qing. If you go take a gallon of mosquitoe spray, those lakes and marshes are fantastic breeding grounds. Thank you for the entire episode trip. Your optimistic approach makes watching your videos a pleasure.

I found Grand Mesa when I graduated high school during my year off before college. I spent a week up there, explored Colorado, then went back for about a month. It became a place that was stuck in my heart for years. Watching your video, I'm finding it's still there. Usually, places that stay with me aren't as vast as Grand Mesa. I could spend a whole summer up there and maybe I will someday. It would be easy to miss it as you travel through Grand Junction. My advice is if you find yourself in the vicinity, go. Spend at least a few days to get a feel for the place. Then.don't forget about it like I did for nearly 50 years.
To be fair, it's my wife's fault. She became interested in grizzlies early in our marriage and didn't want to go anywhere that didn't have grizzlies. I complain sometimes and always someone points out that having a wife who is hooked on large predators isn't something most men would complain about, lol. That said, we did venture down to Colorado for about a week once before we got married. Maybe my mistake was not taking here to Grand Mesa. Yup, it's my fault. 😊

your a lucky man to do all this things high up in the mountain peaks , i would love to explore but im limited to high elevation movement due to 3 yrs,. back had heatstroke /heat exhaustion and it hurt my abiltiy to go up above the elevations of 5000 max, i can travel high each day 1400 feet per day but that would mean it would take me 1 week to do what you did in 1 hour?trisitan YOUR THE MAN TO WATCH,!

That's interesting about the Piutes referring to the Grand Mesa as a place of departed souls. My parents retired to Grand Junction and my dad just loved the Grand Mesa. After he passed away, we spread his ashes up there, as per his wish. Genuinely a lovely plae.

Your comments at the beginning of this video really hit home for me. I lived in Fruita, CO for 3 years. That whole region was the first place I'd ever really lived that just felt like home. Being able to go from red rock, to high desert, to alpine landscapes in just the span of an hour or so in each direction was magical and meant you had an adventure just waiting for you all year long. Fall on Grand Mesa is incredible. I really enjoyed hiking the Crag Crest trail up there as well. It's also an awesome experience to go get your Christmas tree from the Mesa. I could go on and on. Thanks for bringing us along on your adventures!

Hey There! We were up on the mesa just passing through after leaving The Black Canyon of the Gunnison (I learned of that from your Vids!) So we were there in early May 23, and the snow pack was still amazing! If planning to hike, you would certainly want to go later in the year. Unfortunately, we had no time to explore, as it was the final stop of a month long tour of Utah. This video makes me want to go back, and in '26 we are doing Silverton - Durango - Ouray, so it seems there is a really good chance!
So far, though I like most of the states I've visited, Colorado DEFINITELY takes first prize so far. There is just so much to see and do there....never ending exploring! The Great Northwest is on the bucket list though, so we'll see if CO holds.
Thanks for another great video, and take care Tristan.

    Hello,
As former residents of Delta we would like to recommend that you drive east up Hwy 133 past Somerset and turn right at the road to Mclure pss to Crested Butte. About five miles up at the creek crossing bridge turn left to reach Dark Canyon trailhead at the end of the road past the campground. This is a beautiful hike thru a steep canyon. Take your bear spray! The scenery is amazing! Many waterfalls in the spring, and white mountain goats are on the cliffs sometimes.

Nice, Tristan! And I'm so glad you didn't test the elbow durability of that new sun hoodie sand surfing down the mountain. I was perhaps too focused on it as I just got an Ibex hoodie that color at a Labor Day sale a couple of weeks ago. If it is the same item, thanks for giving it a good test, including the bushwhacking, but without the elbow scrapes!

Very nice video of a beautiful landscape. Thanks for taking us along on your peak bagging hike. I see why they call them the Rocky mountains!

Love this area. Colorado is such a great state for secluded free dispersed camping 💖
