Great vid! Your content is AMAZING ♥️ One thing I would personally love is if you talked. Would be like sharing the experience with a mate. I know others like the silent styles, but that's my two cents (esp during the insolation covid craze).
You are nice, I think that it difficult because temperature is cold like this, but you do very very well in making this video, thanks for sharing for me and other people.
Wow i have to say that was a beautiful adventure camping in the wilderness and i know that had to be really a great adventure for you also and keep cool and peace friend.
Great video! This is my first view of your channel. I subscribed. That was really interesting how you set up your tarp. Rock anchors with toggles and the 2 sticks. I’ve been tarp camping a long time and I’ve only seen the use of rock anchors like that a couple of times. Usually where you can’t drive a stake. Great job. Thank you. I’ll be back for more.
I find myself so alone these days and trapped. This is the freedom I need for my soul. My friends are all dead and gone and I can still walk and get about really well. I know that being alone isn't lonely and that being alone in the wilderness is the least lonely thing/place I've ever been. Thank you for letting us be a part of it.
Enjoyed the campout. Other than the wind/breezes that are frequent for open areas, that looked like a great place to camp and view the surrounding area.
I'm glad you enjoyed! I don't think I'd camp there again due to the wind, especially now with how dry it is out already. It was nice to have that view though. Thanks for watching! :)
That's how you make cowboy coffee... after boiling, pour a little cold water on top and the grounds will settle to the bottom for a clean pour. Looked like a great overnight. Peace from Arizona.
I flat-out refuse to drink coffee any other way. It always too acidic and sometimes borderline gross, but when it's boiled, might as well be drinking black gold haha. I do the cold water trick to settle the grounds - just didn't bother to show it, but thanks for spreading the knowledge! It's surprising how much people don't know that trick. Thanks for watching!
OMG, this was one of your best videos. I was watching it on my 65 inch 4K TV. It was like I was there with you. Great to see you again. Don’t seem like we get enough Nicholas videos. Thanks much!
I'm really happy to hear that! I spent the last few months really focusing on how I film and edit, and getting rid of what's unnecessary with the hopes of making the videos more engaging. The new camera helps too I'm sure haha! Thanks for watching! I plan to do a lot more filming now that I've moved :)
Glad for another one of your videos. Been going back and rewatching some of your older ones. I really look forward to them. Hope you and your family are doing well during all this craziness. Take care.
Wind didn't bother me one bit. Great location. Great video. Only thing I'd add, (if it was me of course) is a fishing spot! Either way this was a nice trip. Lack of chatter is golden. Thank you!
Hey mate, just stumbled on your video... nicely done. First one I have seen. Where I come in Queensland, Australia i would have 101 creepy crawlings with me, if I slept like that. Very jealous of your backyard mate. And maybe just spend a couple minutes at the end of the video just going through your ups and downs of the trip.
Hey! Welcome to the channel and sorry for getting back to you so late. I wouldn't be able to stand all the bugs down there haha! Unfortunately I am not much of a talker, so trying to talk to a camera is damn near impossible for me. Sometimes I wish I could though!
Great to see you back and posting again. Your silent adventures are beautifully filmed and really focus on the amazing landscape. The silence just adds to the whole experience. Congratulations and best wishes.
It was actually less than that. I kept this trip close to the road since it was my first in months and my first in the area. That's why I said "backcountry" and not "wilderness" 😆
First of your video's that I have seen. Really enjoyed it! Beautiful country! Wow! A couple things---finally, someone makes cowboy coffee the "proper" way, and, I believe you are carrying a Marlin 1895, and from the glimpse of your slide-cartridge holder, I'm betting 45-70? Sweet!!! A friend here still hunts Elk with one. Hell, the coffee and the Marlin alone won me over!!! 👍 Subscribed from Colorado. Be well! Roger
Welcome to the channel! My advice would be to stick to the recent videos. The old ones are brutal to watch. You're spot on with the rifle and calibre! Thanks for commenting! Hope to see more from you in the future 👍👍
Nice camera work, well-done. Throwback with the candle lantern, cool. I still have mine. Hey, this place you camped had great resources - dry wood and fire ring rocks.
I was thinking about watching a video if yours just the other day. It’s been a while or I haven’t gotten a notice from TH-cam lately. Good to see you out and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Thanks for sharing the video and look forward to the next one already. ATB
I know hey? This doesn't even show a fraction of the country either. The mountain in the background is one of the more underwhelming ones compared to what surrounds it. We gotta get our draws in soon
OMG!! so peaceful.. just watching this helped me to de-stress just a wee tiny bit. Its been to long I need to get back out there and connect. I'd have to change a few things up now that I suffer from herniated and torn disks in my back, adds a good bit more of a challenge.
What beautiful scenery !! Great looking camp 2 👍🏼 Good looking Bowie .... Definitely not a shelf sitter 😂😀👍🏼. What scene 2 wake up 2 !!!!!! Not 2 mention quiet !!
Wish I found you sooner but still glad I did, new sub here!! Excellent camera and video work brotha thanks for sharing stay safe&happy strong&healthy!!😁✌💚
Thanks for sharing! Weather looked good, and you were clearly enjoying yourself. Be well and take good care from here in the Allegheny National Forest in Northwestern Pennsylvania.
Just finished watching this for the second time. I developed quite a curiosity about the "Chilcotin" while reading "Grass Beyond The Mountains". As I watched this earlier this morning, I couldn't help but wonder if you cut the same tracks as "Panhandle", "Hobson", and the rest of the crew. Take it easy Cowboy. Be safe. Roger
I often wonder the exact same thing while out roaming around in the bush. I know I have cut their trail without a doubt while actually in Anahim, since nothing has really changed since the 30's, but I'm not sure about the bush. I'm always towards the west, just out of preference, and Rich and Pan had their eyes set towards the north east. That muskeg/creek seen in this video actually drains directly into Nimpo Lake, which is an interesting fact. It's likely that cayuse was up and down the same muskeg grazing the slough-grass back in the day. You take it easy as well! :)
Thanks! I am a fan of it. Just make sure that if you get one you keep on-top of your blade. I didn't replace mine for ages, and although the blade it had was still fine, the saw frame just wasn't holding it taut enough anymore :)
Watcher Soon hopefully. I’m just waiting on a few piece of gear to arrive, and in the meantime continuing to produce content for my Instagram, @wituiksrwl 👍👍
I doubt you're still watching comments to this video, but just in case! Here goes... What were those chunky, rock looking things you used to start your fire with on the 2nd day, morning? You melted snow and made coffee with the fire. I didn't recognize what you pulled out of that tin. Then you just layed two strike anywhere matches on the "chunks". I will echo everyone's comments, your videos are great quality and thanks for the silence. I'm sure you have wonderful things to say and talk about. But I am truly so very tired of people explaining that I need to like and comment...and please subscribe...yada yada yada. EVERY SINGLE VIDEO!!!!! You are a breath of fresh air. Thanks
Those were chunks of pine/spruce pitch, which I laid the match on top of. The matches wick the pitch up essentially making a candle prolonging the flame. It's one of my favourite fire-starting tricks here, since we don't have any birch bark. Glad to hear you enjoyed my videos, make sure to check out the newer ones - they're a lot better!
Welcome after a long break. :-) You are finally here. I'm watching you on Instagram. Many photos from today's movie. Good to see you again. Best regards and good health. A beautiful movie made again. I even took out my 1895 ABL 45-75 to see if it not rusted. :-)
Loved the trick of holding the saw with your legs and moving the wood. Holding down the tarp, maybe just tie it to to the rocks with cordage and no sticks, or prop the rocks over and in front of the stick, instead of over and behind... it would put more resistance on the stick I think.
Great video...enjoyed it immensely! That wilderness area is beautiful and the view from your campsite was amazing. It's been a while since I watched one of your videos...were you on a sabbatical?Hope all is well. I just learned how to make cowboy coffee and you confirmed the steps for me to follow. Instant coffee just doesn't cut it out in nature. Hopefully we'll get a break soon and be allowed outside our homes without retribution and I'm looking forward to building a campfire and just sit and watch the flames; and smell the steak cooking on coals, of course :)
I'm happy you enjoyed! I've been busy with a LOT of things, all of which were preventing me from filming anything new. Don't get addicted to the cowboy coffee! I was on 10 cups a day for awhile 😆😆. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks! The knife is a custom piece I designed and had built by Mike Jones Knife & Tool, check him out if you're in need of one. He will set you up good. He made my older knife as well which unfortunately snapped (due to my bad design), and even with it being my fault, he still went ahead and made me this new one as a replacement free of charge. Great guy
hi from New Zealand we have similar worlderness to your area we were taught at skool young age about camping and survival. they dont teach that now. great video have sunscribed
Grew up in Williams Lake. Beautiful country out there. Do you carry a stove for the fire ban season ... Maybe fro thise that don't know about "Cowboy" coffee an explanation of the cold water bit ...
Lucky guy! I grew up in the Shuswap, and I hated it there to say the least. I carry a stove when the fire bans on - usually a MSR one. I'll have to do a more in-depth video on the coffee sometime :)
Thanks! It's some size of Aquaquest. I think it's an 7x10. I actually figured that little trick out by accident. It's a great way to get your shelter taut 👍
Thanks! We got here just as winter ended, thankfully. It reached -55C this winter, so no thank you! I surprisingly heard nothing the entire trip but grouse drumming. I expected to hear some wolves since they are absolutely everywhere in the area I camped in
The backyard of my youth! Lived midway between Quesnel and Wells just off the Barkerville Highway. Quite a surprise to see that scenery pop up on my TH-cam feed. Gave me a chance to show the Mrs my old stomping grounds. Just out of curiosity why make camp out in the open like that? My choice would have been to head for the woods nearby. Land access issues?
I'm yet to be up that way, but I'm sure I'll get up there eventually. I've heard lots of good things about the area. I made the camp out there for the view, and since it was my first camping trip here, I wasn't aware of just how windy it gets down the muskeg I was beside. If it were as dry as it is out now, I would've moved to be safe. Lesson learnt!
Enjoy the new video! Don't forget to drop a like and share if you enjoyed, and leave some feedback on what you liked and disliked! It's greatly appreciated!

Loved the trick of holding the saw with your legs and moving the wood. Holding down the tarp, maybe just tie it to to the rocks with cordage and no sticks, or prop the rocks over and in front of the stick, instead of over and behind... it would put more resistance on the stick I think.
Good idea! That'd be a much more efficient way of doing it
