Over the last few months, busy crowds have gone away from cities, allowing the opportunity to explore a more quiet atmosphere. Even though the pandemic filled streets have created an eery and secluded environment, there is nothing like the silence of a sunrise. Throughout the time we have endured Covid-19, many have forgotten the beauty of art and travel, rather allowing the surrounding situation to take a negative toll on their mentality. And who is to blame them? Current times have not been easy, but better days are seemingly ahead. Arianna and I created this video with hope to take each viewer away from the negativity that we face each day and instead to enjoy the beauty that is still out there and always will be. Don't forget about nature. Don't forget about art. Don't forget to do the things that make you happy.
The original concept of a video like this was to be shot when I returned to the dramatic scenery of The Faroe Islands in the spring. Of course, that adventure and many others were cancelled due to Covid. While the ongoing situation has greatly impacted my passion for traveling, it has also opened up different opportunities for now and the future. I admit, like many others, that I was lost for a little bit when I first returned home from Europe. Even though I enjoyed my down time during quarantine, I was confused about what I would be doing in the coming months or if I would be able to travel anytime soon. After a lot of thought, it was time to recreate my idea at home. I never planned to do anything like this in Pittsburgh, which is kind of confusing to me in hindsight. Pittsburgh is truly one of the most beautiful cities in America and this video does a pretty good job of showing it off.
If you take anything away from this video, take away the beauty and happiness of life. There is way too much hate and sadness around right now. Do the things that make you happy to give you some kind of escape. Arianna retired from Ballet, but the happiness that filled her body while running around at 6am to shoot this was a beautiful thing to take part in. She ripped her feet and body apart dancing among Pittsburgh's hilly and pot hole filled streets for about a week. The choreography she created for this song is nothing short of beautiful. Waking up at 5am and doing Ballet in the middle of a city was an escape that has brought her back to life.
On my side of the picture, I cannot travel right now, I can't really plan anything other than what I am eating for dinner. My fields of work in Travel and Education are among the hardest hit. However, shooting photos and video of an empty city with the stunning colors of a sunrise has made me truly feel like me again. Don't forget what makes you happy. Don't forget that beauty is still there. If you read this far, good on you. Now do what I said and enjoy your life!
