- I said I would start her up when I finished putting her together. So, here goes. I did start her and run a couple of heat cycles and retorque the heads. But, she's not completely dialed in yet and she is stone cold. And she hasn't been started today (or yesterday). Enough excuses. She will fire right up.

Damn. I could always cry when I see you start up your knuckle. I had one from 1988 to 1995. Had to sell it because I was in the army and I had my first kid. It was a very rusty but totally solid white and turquoise 1948. I will never get one again; here in Germany they go for 50,000 to 100,000 Bucks now... I absolutely adore your yellow beauty.
Keep 'er shiny bits up and the black bits down!
Thank You. You never know what the future holds. Remember, Knuckles werre from 36-47.
I'm a Sportster guy but this makes me miss my 61 panhead
I understand. I love them all.
Your the essence of a true professional and kind humble man, keep up the work thankyou sir!
Thank You.
Sounds fantastic. Music to the ears of us older bikers. That bike has a super stance to it. One of my all time favorite knuckles. Thanks Mike and Mike!
Thank You. I actually spent days staring at each line and angle on that bike when I restored it. It's better than ever.
Sounds absolutely awesome. Great job Mike...
Thanks for listening
I love those old bikes. Its funny, but I had never seen a knuckle head in person until I went to Born Free Texas last year, and there was several there.
I always enjoy your videos.
Thank You.
One day, beautiful work as always Mike!
Thank You.
Really appreciate all the knowledge that you share with everyone!!
Thank You. We try.
That was very cathartic. I wonder if the original owner ever though an audience watching on handheld devices would watch his beloved Knucklehead be started and purr along, 80 years later. We have the latest tech, and all we all want to see 1940's tech..:-)
Thank You.
Modern machines are too slick, too smooth, everything is hidden by covers. I love how mechanical the old iron looks. So much depth and detail is pleasing to the eye. Thanks for sharing her with us.
Thank You. Yes, it is also "Pure Art Deco."
Mike your an old school thing of beauty.Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank You.
These classics are all my favorite knuckleheads pan Heads this new generations missing the whole deal by not understanding how wonderful these old bikes are
I agree. I've been in love with them all my life. I remember when Harley first put a swingarm on their Big Twin. My dad and I went down to the local Harley shop to look at it. That was 1958. But, the older bikes were sure pretty too.
Pedantic knuckle dance , a dance card few ever have ❤
It is an "E Ticket Ride."
Beautiful bike. That could be in a museum. Nice job!
Thank You. She is an old show bike, I restored and made a couple changes to about 15 years ago. She really looks best at about 80 and museums just aren't large enough for that.
mellow Yellow is a sweet bad arse chopper! Mike, you're a Wizard!
Thank You.
Thats why I'm here Mike, music to the ears of an old biker.
Thank You. And, you're why it's shown here.
Like a fine old Stradivarius... it makes mechanical music.
Thank You.
A pure delight! And you sing too - right on pitch, very impressive 👍
From over on the coast ~ Ride Forever! 🦅 10:50
Wow! I feel appreciated! Thank You.
That is such a beautiful bike you have Mike! Love all the details
Glad you like it!
I have a knucklehead tattoo on my chest, I find that engine that fascinating and beautiful.
Yes, I believe it truly is. That's why I just polish and detail them on the outside.
It's good to hear the Knuckle running again. Happy Thanksgiving to you Mike, Camara man Mike and of course Sonia!
Thank You. And, Happy Thanksgiving!
I'll happy that you have your Knuckle back together.
I'm pretty sure it sounds way better standing next to it.
Let The Knuckle Fly.
Thank You.
Awesome sounding bike
Love to see you in video going through the gears down the road with it.
We'll get around to it.
Thats a cool color for that beautiful bike. As soon as It started, I'd have to ride it.

I can dig it. I could see myself stemming that down the road grinning from ear to ear. Maybe one day before I get too old and feeble I'll have a nice machine like this. Love them Knuckles ✌️
Thank You.
Pacific Mike is my spirit animal. 🤙🤘💪💪
Thank You.

Incredible motorbike. My dream. You have nice weather, it's already snowing here. Best regards from Poland
Thank You. Stay warm.
I really like that Old School look the original owner detailed. Nice peice of history Mike, loved watching you tinker and make it right.
Glad you enjoyed it. What I usually say is, "This bike isn't "Old School," "She's an Old Bike."
Stunning bike Mike! Sounds absolutely amazing.. thanks for sharing
Thank You.
The engine alone is a wonderful piece of machine art, elegant yet insistent in its functional beauty.
Beautifully stated. Yes, Harley outdid themselves with the Knucklehead motor.
Very cool knuckle. And immediate start ofcourse. 👌✌️
Thank You.
That's a dream machine Mike. It looks fantastic and it sounds fabulous. The fishtails are like no other.

Mike your a well oiled machine slow consistent I'm following your lead even though it's a 68 Triumph chopper don't worry I still own Harleys
Thank You. There is always enough love to go around to Triumphs too, you know.
Great ol’ knuckle there!
Thank You.
Just beautiful bike, love it
Thank You.
Great sounding old knuckle! Thanks for sharing fellas!
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice. I was lucky when mine started that easy. But with a leaky seal at the distributor, and an SU carb I took off a Volvo, I should have named the bike Lucky.
Nothing else like a Knucklehead. Can't say I miss mine, but I miss mine... 1940.
I understand. Thank You.
Beautiful Knuckle
Thank You.
Mike, beautiful build and she sure sounds great!
Love your videos, you’ve become my source of reference when I stumble across something I can’t figure out.

Thank You. She is a gas to ride.
Sounds great. Impressive that it started on one kick with so many people watching. Hope you get to take it for a ride.
Thank You. I did.
Good planning and execution = good luck. Something that you do an excellent job of. Happy swap meet hunting!
The harder you work, the luckier you get! 😜
Thank You.
Well said!
Awesome job on the top end rebuild and figuring out the oil issue, love the old iron, be blessed and hope you get to take her for a putt right after doing the video
Thank You. I did.
She's a beauty Mike.
Thank You.
i love that bike. i love those handle bars,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Thank You. They are Flanders drag bars.
Hey Mike, that's a great bike. I love the little personal items you incorporated. That valve kicks it off. Take care man. Super cool.
Thanks 👍
Good morning Mr Pacific, cameraman Mike, hope all is well. She is such a beautiful machine. I run the 32 ford tail light as well on my 93 Fatboy custom.
I’m going to be replacing my M&L built 131” with an 80” Evo. I’ll throw a bolt in cam, limited Travel lifters, s&s oil pump and breather gear along with adjustables.
The 131” is great for WOT or track, it’s not rideable on the street, just too violent and the vibrations of a solid mount and open belt primary will rattle your fillings loose, not to mention the physical toll it takes on the body, makes for a less than enjoyable experience unfortunately but looking forward to my winter project.
It’s funny, I’ve been chasing power for so long that once I finally got it, I realize just how overrated it is. I like a little giddy up but most of all, I like to be able to travel on my bikes.
Anyway, take care of yourselves and we’ll see you soon.
I learned it too. If the machine goes faster than I want to ride it, it's fast enough. We all like a little "rumpety rump" to get our heart started.
That baby looks awesome and sounds.awesome the new Harleys just don’t sound like the old Harley’s thanks for sharing Mike
Thank You.
Looks great, sounds fantastic - the only thing better will be when you're on it, rolling the throttle, and rushing headlong into the wind!
We'll have to show some of that.
That is a beautiful motorcycle Mike, love evey time we get to see it!
Thank You.
Weird that when I clicked the like thumbs up icon it was number 101 = "Knucklehead 101" for this series ... :-) ...Other than the rare & obscure, Knuckleheads are the HD engine of older models I have the least hands-on experience with... Appreciate you sharing some of the details.
Look at the last several videos we've done. There's a bunch of old ones we did on it too. Go to our TH-cam Homepage and click on the word "videos." Well over 300 will come up. Not all Knuckles, but, all Harleys.
@@pacificmike9501 I have watched all of your videos. ...Shortly after they were posted for most of them.... I'm one of your viewers that pesters you about "What special tool is that?" i.e. All the old OEM Harley manuals I have usually state "Use Harley Davidson special tool part number ____" = no photo or illustration of tool or a really crummy pic of tool ...LOL!
Bad banana.godbless knuckleheads!!!! My first and favorite.bike of all time.1938.el
38 EL? Lovely!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Awesome videos as usual and love that Knuckle Head
Thank You.
Thanks for showing us your startup procedure.and pointing out the unique features of the bike They're aren't many knuckle guys like making smart videos like you do so please share everything knuckle you do thanks
Thank You. I try.
Absolutely Amazing
Thank You.
Love that sound. What a tribute to well made and well restored and tuned shovelhead!
No, this is a Knucklehead. But, glad you enjoyed it.
@@pacificmike9501 so sorry - I looked at the bike photo after I sent this and realized dammit it’s a knuckle not a shovel. Sorry for the insult.
Not an insult. The differences are huge though. Only a Knuckle sounds like a Knuckle. Thanks for enjoying it.
Very close to my favorite bike I’ve ever seen. Sounds fantastic!
Glad you like it!
@@pacificmike9501 If I had a bike almost exactly like that - and cris collinsworth was no longer a color analyst for NFL games, my life’s portfolio would be compete 😜
Salutations Mike! Love your knuckle. Fishtails and springer, my favorite;-)
Thank You. She is fun.
Good job on that sweet looking bike Mike.
Thank You.
I rigged a return spring for my carb too works well .
Yah, just a slight pull.
Beautiful ‼️
Thank You.

And a Happy All of the Holidays to You!
Beautiful bike nice job Mike
Thank You.
Sounds amazing
Thank You.
That's a keeper!
Yes.
Mike, I love all your video programs, really, and My Knuckle head is ready to start as well, new wheels, new breaks front and rear, Gearbox renovated, and now the battery is charged, and new Gasoline is required, before the start!
One thing is that I have a S&S carburetor Super E, but not happy with it, but I have one more knuckle engine with a Linkert 74B, which I will swap over to my engine, I love the old linkerrs, so That I will do.
I will sell my spare Knuckle Engine, due to Im getting old, and have no longer any use for it, in Sweden is valued up to 30 000 euro, so I will se what's happening, the spare engine is a EL, rebuilt to 1200CC engine, and it was totally renovated , and been running only 560KM, its like nothing, but its been sitting for 25 years, but I kept it going by oil, and turning it around, so nothing is stucked, and its rebuilt to 12 volt system, and it will be delivered with a brand new S&S carburetor E super shorty.
What do you think Mike?
Sounds great to me! Thank You.
I think the Bendix carb will work a bit better on a kick-start engine than the S&S Super carbs, but that could be just me. Of course if you have a Linkert that is best, all things considered.
That is one sweeeet ride 😁
Thank You.
Man that sounds awesome👍👍
Thank You.
Your Knuck is a bee-yoot - a knock-out in chrome lemon yellow! Shades of the first issue of Big Bike magazine! Ride safe, Mike, Mike and everyone on two! Happy Thanksgiving 2023!
Thanks! You too!
Love the Leather Tooling on the Bags 👍
Thank You.
❤💪🏼🇺🇸thanks Mike
Thank You.
Gorgeous Bike!
Thank You.
Made my day Mike, nothing like upsweep fishtails!!! Enjoy brother.
