I'm cheering for zcam to succeed. If they can work out the bugs this will be a brilliant little cine cam at an almost affordable price. The mirrorless cameras are getting close with technology but the form factor can't handle the heat. This has the potential to be a system you could run with for years
Good job, Matti. And thanks for the shout-out! 🤓🙏 On an unrelated note, I like how you've configured the studio. It works really well as a pleasing backdrop to your talking head shot. Looks great!
I think the F6 is the best camera I've owned, love the form factor and build. It's a modular little tank. Works great in hot and cold weather. It has a ton of different flavors of Codecs for different levels of projects. I also love that I can nearly make it through a day long shoot with basically one NPF battery, granted my batteries are pretty new. The 10-bit is great, and the color science in general hasn't given me any issues in post. Really enjoy this camera.
do you have the full frame model? still like it a year later? was considering the e2 f6 full frame over the panasonic s1h/bs1h or the sony fx3. don't need mirrorless form factor, but the software/usability issues w/ zcam have me a little concerned
Good review! Just FYI, You can set a custom voltage warning that will stop recording and write the file if the battery gets too low. This is helpful for preventing data loss for sure and a good solution until zcam fixes the data loss issue or at least disables file splitting. Most of the npf you would use with the cam run the cam 2-3 hours easy...especially the larger ones...so those two factors combined I think make it a lot more suited for long form than you would think.
That red blotch happens when I film with my Fujis too. It goes away in Premiere when you change your sequence setting to "Maximum Bit Depth." It drove me crazy for months not knowing that.
Hi Matti! Great video! I just want to answer/clarify two problems you had: - If you lose power you lose the footage you were recording: Well, if you rip out the battery while the camera is recording… yes, but if you lose power because your battery is dying, No. Z-Cam automatically stop the recording when the battery goes under the set voltage limit and save your footage (I don’t know many cameras that do that). - App is not connecting to the camera: I expect that you already connected your phone to the camera’s Wi-Fi but you also need to turn off data (cellphone data) on your phone. Let me know if that fixes it for you!
Great video...This week was a great of announcements for us. Did you see our announcement with Z CAM?! Earlier this week alongside Z CAM we enabled 12-bit 5.8K Apple ProRes RAW over HDMI recording on the Ninja V HDR monitor-recorder in combination with the Flagship series Z CAM E2-F6, E2-F8 and E2-S6 large sensor cinema cameras, as well as 4K ProRes RAW recording from the Micro 4/3 E2, E2-M4 and E2 C models.
Colour shift was already fixed in firmware. You need to enable airplane mode to use your phone as a monitor. Power loss isn’t really a thing since the camera stops recording when you are running low and closes the clip. You can also run dual power source for hot swap of batteries.
Loss of data with loss of power is so 1980s, but at least it has an ethernet port. This camera should always be hooked up to another computer for recording then. I'm getting one of those as soon as I leave the jungle. Thanks for the awesome video 🙏
I agree w/ you about shooting RAW. Pro Res is wonderful, but as long as you nail exposure and WB you can get beautiful footage with h.625 with much smaller files.
Z CAM: I shoot 6K raw Canon: hold my beer Just happy to see technology trickle down from high end cinema cameras to budget cinema cameras and now to mirrorless cameras. film making has never been this accessible and at this pace by 2025 all new cameras will shoot raw and the competition will be for dynamic range. 👍👍👍

It is definitely a superb image... but could you compare it against the BMPCC 6K and EOS R5? At 4000 USD (unbuilt) it is twice the cost of BM6K (1995 USD now, including Resolve Studio) and at par with EOS R5. Both of those cameras offer RAW, and slow motion..
