      ROFLMAO...if they did, they did it with their ladders backwards 0:27 check rungs and the INSTRUCTIONS on the side clear as day....If ya turn that ladder around you might not tend to fall off as much...We all done something like this before at one point. Love this channel though 😁😍

    Don’t be unsafe with the ladder. You have it backwards sir.
    Love the channel.

    • @jwcinc12
      @jwcinc12 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      one safety thing would be for Ariel to stand at base of ladder once you are on it and support side with hands and step on feet of ladder with her toes. My one accident with the ladder it slipped out from underneath me. If I had a person stand on the bottom it probably wouldn't have happened. Both going up and coming down, it slipped on me coming off roof.

      As stated, the ladder is backwards, the feet are supposed to sit flat on the ground. As per NFPA the ladder is to be placed 2 to 3 rungs above the working level, like he did. The NFPA requirements for using a ladder is at least 2 people, one to climb and one to heel. There are 2 ways they recognize for the heeler to do it, one is as stated above of holding their arms level to the ground and either standing on the bottom rung or place their toes on the feet of the ladder. Second way is for the heeler to stand under the ladder with their arms at chest level and lean back towards the building, the one must for this technique is for the not to look up and have head and eye protection. Lastly, is to use a rope to tie the bottom of the ladder to the structure at the bottom but a heeler is still needed when someone is one the ladder

      ladders are so dangerous. I feel safer climbing rock faces or trees on ropes and a harness than being 10 feet up on a ladder.

      @@donhepler294 mine was washing some windows 2nd story above the first story pushed out dining room. I am glad my fall was from 10', but onto cement, standing and hurt a vertibrae. I am so careful about ladders ever since. I hired a person to go with me every time I had to use a ladder, if only just for that.

    ,We have a stove with a glass door in our cabin. It will go dark , often, when you burn in it. If the soot do not go away during firing, you can wait till the stove gets cold, wet a piece of kitchen roll paper, dip it in the ash, and scrub away the soot. Then dry off remnants. I have seen people use expensive sprays, but that is not necessary. I just think I would tell you in case you did not know. The stove turned out really beautiful! Regards from Sweden!

      Sorry, but I disagree. He was not wearing a harness, it was just a rope tied around his waist. This would not have helped him if he fell, and might have caused more damage to his body. I hope he uses a harness and anchors it properly to the roof next time. Falls are one of the top 4 construction hazards, per OSHA.

    Just watched this full episode on the big TV, but came here to be able to comment :) You kids are so, so smart! I looked over at my husband and we talked about how you put first things first, your wood shed is all done, filled with wood (too), your outhouse is moved and ready, fishing your limits, drying them, you are growing your food, canning, now while the weather is nice you completely cleaned out and repaired your wood stove! If I was your Mama I would be bursting with pride with how smart you two are!! My goodness ya'll are going to be ready for winter this year!

  • @waynethorsen5177

    Well per usual you guys are on top of things. Stove looks great, the glass is the way it should be on a cold winters night. I'm mostly impressed with how much wood you have stashed away! You appear to be in pretty good shape for an early winter and look how much you have accomplished this summer woodshed , new privy, orchard, water tank, and soon a bountiful harvest. The work never ends but when you are doing something you love with someone you love the reward. Is contentment peace and joy. I have to give a shout out to the chickens, I have often thought about what other livestock would work for you and actually chickens are enough and a good choice , that they produce so well is testament to your good care. Hindus have an expression " Save the cow and the cow will save you" That's how I feel about having chickens.

    I have a similar stove, 12 feet of chimney pipe. I clean chimney from inside stove. No going on roof. I use a cheap drain cleaning snake. It's a flat metal tape on a little spool with a spring on the end. Like an electrician fish tape. I work it up to the cap, then wiggle it in a circular motion slowly back down to the stove. Wind it back up on the spool and done. I have a big pile of soot in the fire box like you did. Real easy and no roof work, unless I'm going to clean the cap.

    Such a cute owl!! I’m sure that animal rehabilitation place will take good care of him, I hope they give you an update! We had a company come out and service our pellet stove and they used the same paint, it did give off fumes the first few times we used the stove. You might want to fire it up a few times before you start using it for cooking again.

    Great job guys, that stove is without a doubt one of the most essential pieces of equipment you have so a bit of preventive maintenance in the summer will go a long ways towards a great heat source for the rest of the year. Stay safe

    Loved how the stove turned out.

    Good job! I know that glass front will make it much nicer in the evening, especially in winter time. Good to see someone maintain what they have rather than replace it for cosmetic reasons! Oh, and I do NOT like heights either! Duty on a submarine did not really worry me, but roof tops are no bueno.

    Nice lookin stove! I love mine! I pulled some old gas logs out that no one used and installed a wood stove insert. It burns all fall and winter! Love the channel!
