The one thing i haven't mastered yet is the ability to do a roll and throw a weapon at the same time. If you know how, could you teach me, cause i was planning to make a video on that anyway.

Fun fact, if you jump attack while a slomo is activated you land on kneel regardless of the distance almost always. I don't think this is the best game update either, it's been really wacky too. Melee weapon ranges are working weirdly even if you have 1 ping or is playing in the map editor or whatever. If you compare to older versions (that you can play anytime you want since there are stilll links for it) the bodies have been strange as ever, you get hit by one body falling at 1 m/s, not to mention it knocks you down even if you are significantly far away. The game seems less optimized to any ping now, for real D:
I played this weekend and had a full server within minutes so I’d say it’s still good. The third annual sfd tournament is also going on right now. This game has too much potential to die

After the melee changes that were introduced in the Steam version of SFD, you can no longer fight 2 opponents at exactly the same time. Trust me, just run and hide. The meta in team mode is ganging up people in a corner and mashing a.
Phoenix Mario baseballs have been in the game for a while but the devs never added any balls to their maps. I put baseballs in most of my custom maps which are available in the description of the vid :)
Good video. Although melee in this game is too unrealiable, sometimes we receive random cooldowns when jumping up or down objects. Sometimes our attacks don't display. After the rework in rolling, melee became more stiff. Also the rock paper scissor analogy isn't that simple. Grabs are extremely hard to counter when fighting someone with low ping. You can see their grab coming, but pressing punch is too slow by then. The punch can't finish and we get grabbed. It's not like Pre-Alpha with blocking and punching. You see a punch coming, you can press block and instantly avoid damage. The enviroment was also more dynamic before, letting us do wall nailing and get extra hit combos. That shock batton combo is a perfect example of an OP weapon. Nor would i call chainsaw really melee weapon you can't fight it.
Spirits - SFD This game wasn’t meant for you to play it with high ping, so anyone that plays with the delay will experience issues fighting. Secondly, the melee is better now than any previous update of the game. The new meta is throwing items and grabbing; you can’t use old techniques and expect them to work in newer updates. The game is more complicated with the addition of these moves, but they also increase the potential for cool combos
@@UltraVitamin I play with 18 ping, and the game still gives me cooldowns for Superpunching up or down objects or under low ceiling, its extremely infuriating when trying to start a combo. Second, i'd argue that the meta now is run and gun, but if where talking about melee, then yeah: Throwing and grabbing proves highly efficient. And i don't have a problem with that, in fact i used to use those moves before a lot too. But the fact that before we could move so much faster in melee, dodging counter-punches, double hitting, and who can forget 4 hit combo. You could still play with throw and grab, but at least the melee system still played like Pre-Alpha, canceling attacks and instantly jumping out of rolls. It was the best of both worlds, people could choose to play cheaply to do high damage moves, or stick around long enough to truly embrace the full potential of melee. New melee is so barebones, there aren't moves concealed within the complexity. It's way too simplistic, and it punishes any player that has yellow ping. I mean back in beta if i played with yellow ping, it was hard, but manageable, because we could still cancel attacks and avoid getting hit. If you only play with 1 ping, i doubt you can notice a big difference, but once you reach yellow ping its really hard, especially when fighting the host. Anyways, with yellow ping you end up tripping and slipping, bouncing and falling around the map most of the time. I don't think melee became more complicated, just harder for people to move around. Combos are only pure spam and they hardly look impressive. Just jump down crate, land a few hits, jump back up, back down + throw, like 40 damage already. A combo that was removed, but looked really cool was for example 4 hit combo + shadowkick, you could launch people far out of the map, and they would be like: "Wtf happened, hacker?!"

Sometimes people get annoyed at you whenever you grab them and throw them into acid or something I’ll just say, it’s part of the game, stop getting triggered But whenever it happens to me, I sometimes get annoyed then feel like a hypocrite

If you compare to older versions (that you can play anytime you want since there are stilll links for it) the bodies have been strange as ever, you get hit by one body falling at 1 m/s, not to mention it knocks you down even if you are significantly far away. nullvar you run and gun, shooting is always the safest option in SFD. I’ll be talking more about this in my second tutorial

We've all been there. Grabs are bad, but there exist stuff thats much worse like chainsaw or shurikens, shock baton... *DRONES*
Grabs are good, just make sure you grab first and don’t get yourself grabbed ;) if you die just play better next game
