Nice tutorial! Just as a tip, you can choose the boat as the guide emitter and make it's boundary a little larger if you want to make the fluid sim emit from a smaller area. An example would be if the boat was going through less turbulent waters where the waves aren't generating foam. :)
At 4:05 the ocean plane looked smoother and at 4:07 you obviously made some changes to end up with the final version you worked with, could you post a couple of the key settings that you ended up tweaking to get that result you worked with.
Yes, sorry, forget to post final settings. But will highly be dependent on your scale. I just play with values like size/resolution/waveheight until I found something I like it, avoiding patterns repetition.
@@andvfx I was following your sizes and settings to the letter to come up with your same result.. then would tweak what I need based on that - just couldn't get to your same spot.
This is an awesome tutorial and easy to follow. I have a question though about guide systems, have you ever managed to get a guide system to interact with a motion field object. I can't see how to make it happen and curious if you had also.
Dear sir. Plz, help me. I am making an animation with Guided Fluid. your Tutorials help me a lot. But when my simulation starts and all collisions begin, the fluid particles go under the guided emitter and guided mesh .. . why it's happening I have no idea. plz, help me.
I am trying to simulate raising water and as I raise my guide mesh the water drowns itself or how to describe it, is there a better way? It also makes the water squirt random splashes which looks weird
Does anyone know why a solver creates the water above the guide mesh when I try to use a cylinder for guide emitter instead of the same wave mesh? I tried flipping normals and some other trivial efforts but it still does not create the water below the guide mesh. :S
Thank you very much. Everything works perfectly for me, even when rendering, except the foam. Error: [Arnold]: node "bifrost_points" is not installed ??
Wow this looks really good. I beleive Bifrost is the same system in maya right? But in maya you can also use it to create smoke and fire i think. Do you know if in 3ds Max it will also do that?
Alain Manzo yes, bifrost is the same liquid solver than maya. Now maya has bifrost graph, that is a nodal system with an updated smoke system. Bifrost graph is already available in max beta, and according to the 3ds max roadmap in the future will get a smoke solver based on bifrost graph.
RealFlow is a few lightyear ahead for now ... it's doing the same thing, but much better. Although it's not a part of 3dsmax, you have to export back and forth..
o me e perdido algún paso o te falta alguno a ti :( cuando le doy a mi océano que emita el agua, el agua cae como una catarata gigante ( también te digo que yo de ingles no tengo ni idea jejeje )

Yes! we need to talk about that! XD I had some problems with the submarine going from below, looks like its doing some projection or something.
Thanks alot for this tutorial bro. You show us things we didn't know 3ds Max could do.
Thanks Eloi. I really enjoy your videos. Love your accent too. :)
Really neat! I would also have liked to see the mesh too, or even a render!
Life saving tutorial, beautiful explanation! Simple and concise !
you drive us crazy, thanks... :)
Another awesome, a conveniently quick tutorial. Great work!
I always benefit greatly from your helpful videos. I wonder if Fluid simulation results are exported as alembic files.

hey there, still not getting decent results.. can you put the final settings for the ocean settings you used.. cheers and beers :)
Excellent tutorial, I learnt a lot.
awesome, i didnt know max fluids was capable of this
THANKS A LOT, simple & very useful
thats cool but what do you do if you have a giant ocean how do you create the rest of the ocean ?
You are amazing man !
Gracias por compartir esta técnica, creo que es de las mas rápidas

Didnt try it, but liquid should be affected by motion field objects, just add the motion field object on the "motion field" list on your Fluids.
@@andvfx yeh it doesn't work that way, tried a few different ways about it. Will see what else I can do to trick it into working :)
What was your Grid and Unit set up ?
Thanks Eloi
Great tutorial !

friend, can you please tell me how to increase the rate of water emission from the emitter?
Awesome !!!
Thank you very much.

Jonas Wolf what max version and arnold version do you have installed?
thank you
Good job

the fluid label only comes out in 3d max version 2020?
It appear on max 2018.3 it improved during 2019 as well.
@@andvfx Thanks for responding, but it is exclusive to a rendering engine, the fluid option does not appear in max 2018 :(
@@3DLeyton No, its not exclusive on any rendering engine. It appear on max 2018 update 3.
@@andvfx we made it, thank you very much :o
Awesome 💞
cant get the script anymore i think its gone

What is tha unit setup?
Sohail Shaikh I work with 1 unit=10cm
@@andvfx thanks 👍
how long is sim time?
