When I was a boy, I heard Joan Baez songs for the first time. Now, in the midst of the global crisis of COVID 19, I'm 70, listening to her songs again. Thanks to Joan Baez from Japan.
My brother brought home to Colombo, Sri Lanka, 2 cases of records from London in 83 when I was just 11. He took out Diamonds and Rust and I fell in love with the voice, the poetry and sang it ten years on in an unlikely karaoke bar called Showboat in Colombo. Never forget Baez and Dylan and a brave America! Especially now. Listening in lockdown in London... !
Thank you Joan for speaking up for all those who serve at every level. My son works for the third largest county healthcare dept in TX. His mgr has worked for 32 days, 11-12 hours a day, and he's worked for 25 days at the same pace, keeping the entire healthcare system working as efficiently as possible. There are so many unsung heroes working at their best now to help others. It's a source of the light of love and compassion.
Please extend our thanks. I'm in NYC...NW Bronx...where ALL of us...with few exceptions, wearing masks, gloves, walking dogs, shopping for elderly/disabled/ families with kids neighbors. My immediate neighborhood has lost dozens of people...mostly elderly, but a few 40-50 year old teachers, nurses. Looks like parts of Texas MAY experience the next round of COVID 19....hope your state government does well with planing supplies and staffing. NY State now sending ventilators to Michigan and Maryland.

I have loved your music for so long now. I am only nineteen. Still busy with my degree. For my internship i had to work in the hospital. 4 days sometimes 6 days a week. There wasn't enough staff but we did it! But it was terrified. And we are still not there... but this brings some joy in the dark times. Joan Beaz I love your songs and i always will!

Great words and music from such a talented lady. Joan in the early days always spoke on behalf of the oppressed and the injustices in this world and in 2020 still calls out loudly for what is right. How sad that after so many years it is still necessary for her to do so. With our protest songs we were going to change the world and create a lasting peace. Were we fools to think that? I don't believe so. Naive, perhaps but we can still - and must - call our leaders to account wherever in the world we live. We must never stop believing that we can live in a better world; a world where respect, love and harmony prosper.

Loved you so....way back when. Love you still....my favorite song is still Dida . I am frontline and that song, to this day, makes me sing on my way home, just two beautiful voices harmonizing, no words, just voices flying in the breeze. Great words and music from such a talented lady. Joan in the early days always spoke on behalf of the oppressed and the injustices in this world and in 2020 still calls out loudly for what is right. How sad that after so many years it is still necessary for her to do so. With our protest songs we were going to change the world and create a lasting peace. Were we fools to think that? I don't believe so. Naive, perhaps but we can still - and must - call our leaders to account wherever in the world we live. We must never stop believing that we can live in a better world; a world where respect, love and harmony prosper.
