    I’ve always liked Oris but if they’re charging that much then, at the very least, they need to regulating the movement. $3K for a base Sellita with a weak warranty just isn’t a competitive product at that price point.

    • @mariog7213
      @mariog7213 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess they want you to pay the premium for the cal400. With that movement I think it’s very competitive

    • @kevinbarnbrook4728
      @kevinbarnbrook4728 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      $3k, I wouldn't pay more than $500, poor lume, naff movement, the crown guards look like a couple of piece of mechano, screwed on to a hockey puck that has been sprayed silver. Reminds me far too much of a Tissot Seastar 1000.

      The best they got mine to with a service was +10s per day. A local watch Shop could have got it better but oris don't sell parts to 3rd party dealers.

    I had the 43mm Aquis and I truly loved it at first, however after a while it just looked too big. Plus with all that high polish I found myself wearing it as more of a dress piece. Having said that the build on these things is solid and has really nice finishing. For a first luxury Swiss diver/dress combo (all rounder then 😄), it makes a lot of sense. 👍

  • @AlexanderB.
    @AlexanderB. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I happen to own an Aquis myself, a nice compact 39.5 mm with pale green fumé dial and a tungsten bezel insert. It's probably the most comfortable watch I own, it's definitely one of my favourites!

  • @Mr_Memer.876
    @Mr_Memer.876 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    If they lumed the GMT hand, it would make sense to lume the bezel insert too. As it is its fine, a lumed GMT hand on its own wouldn't really help much.

    I love what Oris is doing and think they are a great company. I currently own the Carysfort and have the Hangang edition coming in. In my humble opinion these 2 are the best looking blue and green dials made. Nice review as always.

    Always liked the Oris Aquis line, along with the Longines Hydroconquest perhaps best "entry level" luxury dive watches. Still, not very keen on GMTs in a divers case, mind you, only from the practical side. Regards

  • @johnsrabe

    8:16 I personally find that inner track GMT scale much easier to see and use. Nice dial indeed.

  • @Nefville
    @Nefville 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    My Aquis is my favorite watch, just a plain 39.5mm green dial. The case finishing is spectacular and I have watches that are more expensive and have handled watches that are much more expensive and it really holds up against them all. The only downside (which Oris fixed already) is the unregulated Sellita movement. I regulated it myself so no big deal but I wish they had for me. Still, love that watch.

    Beautiful! A pity it is 43mm, even if the 49mm lug-to-lug helps. More than 40mm and the watch really look huge on my wrist. Thanks for the review. Very enjoyable as always.

  • @HonestWatchReviewsHWR

    The dial is rather subtle, but does look nice. I think it would have worked better if they had changed the blue section of the bezel to match the dial colour more though.

    Thanks for another great review Jody, a great looking watch but I agree strange no lume on GMT hand? Possibly slightly too big for my 6.75” wrist but as you mentioned short lug to lug. Starbuy have some great bargains on Oris most weeks 👍Cheers from Melbourne.

    Thanks for a great review Jody, a great looking watch but I agree that no lume on GMT hand is a bit odd? However, the cost is to my mind excessive given it has an unregulated Sellita movement and most of the hands and other bits are a carry over from previous models. Will not be adding one to my collection. 👎😕

  • @davidrosenblum2178
    @davidrosenblum2178 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I added a Bremont Boeing 747 GMT chronometer to my collection last year and although I love it it is the last time I will spend that much on a GMT watch without a true GMT movement. The utility of such a movement is essential for someone who crosses time zones regularly. As stunning a piece as this admittedly is, the retail price is too much to justify another "office GMT." And yeah...what were they thinking, not luming the GMT hand? At least they labeled the bezel and inner ring properly (in my opinion) and left the '24' out. Cheers mate!

    When you compare it to the Tudor BB58 Pro, the Tudor seems to come out on top for price, size, movement, PR, COSC, and a lumed GMT hand. The only thing the Oris has over the Tudor is thickness.

    I love Oris but I'm not a fan of this model at all. It's way too "busy" for my taste with that two tone silver bracelet, blue/black bezel, green face with white markers and orange highlights. I think someone went a bit too crazy with the colours on this one. I absolutely love the standard blue Aquis and that remains my top choice. Really hope to get one some day. That's a stunner.

  • @gamesetmatt23
    @gamesetmatt23 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I can't quite get past the mis-match of the blue half of the bezel with the blue-green dial. I think this would have looked infinitely better if they'd been consistent with the colouring, or perhaps just used a solid colour on the bezel instead of two.
    But I'm really coming around to the Aquis line in general. Hoping to snatch a deal on one of the Calibre 400 models 🤞🤞

    At 4k is this a 'Ford Mondeo of the watch world? The dial is ok, and the case back is really nice. If the dial looked like the case back it would win me over a little. But compared to the outstanding value offered by others including for example Orient, I really do not understand these watches' existence. The music gave me a flashback to radio one, with Simon Bates...!

    Oris Aquis Date was my first (and best) luxury Swiss watch, great all round package. Id prefer the new smaller calibre 400 version if I bought again. They have sure gone up in price over 10y but seems like some occasional good deals around. Jomashop you'd probably get slugged with taxes I guess.

    Tempted to sell the Aquis date with both new rubber strap and stainless steel bracelet, as the rubber doesn't sit the best on small wrist. This watch is tempting, or the Calibre 400 from Jomashop for US$1999? The rubber strap makes this watch, and is a lot lighter than the chunky blingy stainless bracelet.
