What a beautiful person you are Benita. I had a heart transplant in 2014 and at the time was told I had at most, 3 weeks to live. I was blessed with a donor heart after only 3 days in hospital. It is thanks to my donor and others like you who are registered as organ donors, that I am still alive today and here for my sons. There is nothing more selfless than the gift of life so from my transplanted heart to yours, a huge thank you.. 💕💕🙏

Thank you! It’s really not that big of a deal. I registered as a donor back in 1996 because it just made sense.
A lot of countries actually let people automatically be a donor unless they state otherwise (online, via snailmail etc) such an easy solution
Same here. In Belgium everyone is a donor unless specified otherwise. Unfortunately the family can refuse to donate the organs of the deceased. I think that is outrageous. Even when you made up special documents that state you’ll donate your organs they still can. I know Belgium is a country of many laws and even more “back gates” but this is about saving other peoples lives !!! And what is worse not respecting ones last will !
Have you ever seen that Monty Python episode where they took the guys organs prematurely because he registered himself as a donor? Funny, but scary!
Think so. Over the course of time which Monty Python did one not see 😃. But it’s too long ago to remember details. Anyway I would like them to wait until I’m dead before they run away with mine 😱And since I have no family left or at least none that cares what happens to me once I’m dead that’s not going to be an issue. My husband will surely respect whatever I decide.
"Haven't used those in Sweden since the 80s" re checks. YES! It drives me bonkers that US banks still find it easier to deal with checks than making electronic banking easier.

Minimalism is very dear to my heart, and eventhough I personally don't practise the full concept, there is still much to learn from it: I simply love the look on consuming consciously, keeping only favourites and having less stuff in general, which are the principles I have adapted for my own life and that works for me.
I really like how calm your videos are and how you speak about minimalism in general - and how relaxed and at ease you seem to be :) - not to mention your beautiful videography and choice of music. Your sometimes unexpected humorous little comments make it even more fun to watch, and oh, how adorable is it that one of your cats is named Bonus! 😍 They are both so super sweet and it makes me so happy seeing them in your videos! You have been so thought-provoking for me and I have discovered one or the other solution for those little daily-life annoyances I've had for a while.
Thank you for putting in all the work - I know how long it takes to plan, film, edit and voiceover a video and I really appreciate, that you put your time into that!
Also thank you for writing out such detailed lists on alll the items on your blog (i love lists), it is so well done! I discovered organic basics through you and love the quality! Let me pass on a recommendation of a personal favourite in return: I don't know if you know the site already, but "Erlich Textil" is my facourite brand for all things sustainable loungewear and underwear in neutral colours. It is based in Germany, but has an English version of their site and I absolutely recomment them!

I must also point out that using your work phone for personal use means that your employer can monitor much of your personal use of it. You never know when society might decide to have something against you for some reason, so I would encourage everyone to keep work and personal us on separate devices as much as possible. It may be less efficient but is much safer.
As usual another great video! I have several of those totes. I get the zippered top because I’m constantly knocking mine over, especially in the car. Also, I’m a fan of the Fisherman’s Friend Cough Lozenges.👍🏻

As always, I love your newest video. I own several totes, but don't carry any of them. I have a lanyard with a detachable driver's license-sized wallet that works for me. I live in a rural area, so I keep most essentials in my car.

Hi Benita, thanks for another lovely video. I prefer a 'landscape' tote bag, but my current one is 'portrait' - it's bright pink from a market in Italy and there's a small pouch attached, so I can carry my cards and other small stuff. An LL Bean just opened up in Ottawa so I'm excited to see the legendary totes in real life - I'm guessing that they last a long time.

Why do we love knowing what’s in everyone’s bag?? We just do!! 😜😜 I carry a cross body purse that basically looks like a wallet with a strap! No money no change or credit cards either! I do love your Incognito tote. It is ashame it is no longer available for purchase. I also use my LL Beat Boat and Tote as a purse...mainly for its simplistic design and ease of getting things in and out (I like to carry a small moleskin notebooks because I like to jot things down). I will look for a similar Incognito tote like yours because I love the classic shape and look! New subscriber and so lucky to have found your channel!
You're videos are inspirational. I used to have an LL Bean tote( like 20 years ago). I think I will get a new one. Also, thank you for being a bone marrow donor. My husband had an all transplant in May 2019 and it saved his life.

Interesting how you like to carry your bag as a handbag or on the crease. I like the option to be able to also put a bag on my shoulder though - so always looking for the right handle length. I’m partial to totes that are longer than they are high - I just like seeing the bottom easier. But currently using a Madewell tote that is a little longer. And I’m right there with you on the non-black wallet. Thanks for sharing!

I like to carry an old fashioned handkerchief, and a small kitchen hand towel. They are washable, and replace the need for tissues and paper napkins. I also carry some wet wipes to sanitize public bathroom surfaces.
I’m also thinking of bringing back handkerchiefs this fall!

It's funny as my other minimalist TH-camr did a what's in my bag two days ago 🤭 I keep it simple but now desinfectant and mask are in my small handbag as well. I like a short strap as I carry my bag in my hand or arm crease too ☺️

My bag requirements are very similar to your own Benita- I also prefer a freestanding tote which I carry by hand.
I have a super one at the moment which works year round but I'd like to replace at some point.
I prefer a weather resistant non leather outer, preferably in navy blue.
Not too large- perhaps slightly smaller than your LLBean bag and it must have an outer pocket for my keys and bus pass.
I always carry a small umbrella, small purse, bus pass, keys, tissues, mints, lip salve, phone, a small deodorant spray and headache tablets (just in case) Also my little paper monthly planner & pen. And 2 folded bags for grocery shopping.
Gone are the days when I owned a wardrobe of bags !
I do often use a small cross body bag , especially when I will be walking longer distances.
There is a good bag company called Roka London who make nylon rucksacks, cross body bags and purses in a variety of colours - I wish they would add some totes to their collection! 🛍
I have watched this wonderful video with great interest and then glanced into my handbag with horror ...tissues and papers crammed into one pocket and money thrown into another ...i immediately threw everything out and tidied it all up . That's pretty much the same amount of things I keep in my bag. Wallet, reusable bags, with reusable especially bags for fruits and veggies at the grocery store, phone, keys, little bag for medicine and other bits and bobs, ipod shuffle (I don't use my phone for music). I don't need an umbrella as we have literally 350 days of sun nowadays in Southern Central Europe. Also we still have money and I have no donor card because I am not allowed to.donate.

I am actually wondering if you do not have a smaller bag for just your wallet/keys when you are going out for a day or night? Do you always take one of these bigger bags with you?
I do have a fabric bag which I’ll take when I go out during the weekend. It’s one if those book bags you get at museums. Still a tote though, not a purse.

I love rucksacks, most of the items are the same in there as in your bag. I can carry it on my back which I find easier. And of course, the zipper is always stuck when I am in a hurry. Instead of scraps of cloth, I wear scraps of yarn. Funny is it, almost exactly the same stuff in our bags ;>D

You can get LL Bean delivered to Sweden? I am so relieved haha. I’m moving to Norway (for love) and one of the things that stresses me out a bit is the thought of no longer having access to LL Bean shearling slippers haha. The absolute best house shoes of all time and my go to holiday gift as well!
You can and shipping is pretty fast!
When my daughter was born I quit carrying a purse. I put keys in one pocket and my phone with a card wallet on the back in the other.
But I do drive, so lip balm, nail clippers and such are in a makeup bag in my door.
When you don’t drive you need to carry everything on your person 😊
So few items Benita. I try but end up with receipts, lipstick I’m not wearing, all sorts of store cards etc.
In Australia, for bone marrow donation you can nominate when you give blood donations. I feel guilty now. I should be a regular donor. My sister donates plasma. If we nominate to donate any or all organs we have that recorded with our driver’s licence. It’s good because they always check when we are getting a renewal. It’s easy that way because so many people wouldn’t get around to it. And we are encouraged to let our family know our wishes too.

You've sold me on the LL Bean tote. I've been back and forth for years on buying one. Have a messenger bag from LL Bean, which I've had for around 20 years, but really want a tote at this point in my life. I like that it stands on its own and doesn't fold over on itself. :)
