One huge thing you might miss out in relation to malls is public library.
SG has great public library system, and they're often located inside malls.
So, you can spend some free leisure time in the malls just visiting the library.

That's a great point, libraries are such important accessible third spaces! I haven't been to one here myself yet but this is a good idea to check one out near me soon :)

The best tool for the weather in Singapore is a solid umbrella.
    Heavy Rain? Umbrella
    Harsh Sun? Umbrella
    For everything else: Aircon 😁

Thanks. If I ever moved to Singapore, I'd enjoy living near the botanic gardens or at least near one of the very large parks. They are so lush and beautiful and well maintained.

Gov has released tons of mosquitoes that have been generically altered which stops them from breeding. Im living in the Central Area and I’ve not had a single mosquito bite for more than 10 years. It’s strange cause I remember having occasional bites during my childhood. Do you live near a park or ground floor, that might be a cause but also your neighbour could be breeding mosquitoes 😂

Jen. try to close your windows and doors after 6.30pm to avoid mosquitoes flying in when it is getting dark. 😉 blessed living here under one roof.

Thanks for sharing! We are also considering moving to Singapore from the Bay Area and your videos have been incredibly helpful for research. For the next topic, it'd be great if you cover popular weekend destinations from Singapore. Where do you spend the most time traveling? Any tips and advice for exploring the rest of southeast asia from Singapore?

Singapore is at the equator...it's naturally hot and warm. Though there will be a heavy downpour and shower always in the afternoon for an hour, the good thing is that u will get fresh air and cooler temperature after that!
US summer cam be super hot tool. It's 42.degrees...even in LA
Those countries in South East Asia..in general are warm and hot. So..not only Singapore....Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia ar hot too. ..hehe....

The friendship one is probably the biggest drawback for me. I moved in 2022 and have since had a complete wipeout of all the friends I made!😢 Sucky because it takes time to actually develop a deep friendship. Oh well!

Singapore, being its geographical location, can't decide or control the weather. But at the same time, you are free from natural disasters like tornadoes, typhoons, earthquakes, avalanches, or volcano eruptions.
You can't have the best of both worlds, just like our fingers that come in different lengths

What about double taxation as an American?

    • @happy_hapa
      @happy_hapa  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

There are ways you can avoid double taxation and most American expats end up paying less in taxes than they would in the US since the tax rates are much lower in Singapore

she is entitle to her opinion, i am a singaporean and i love the island. Maybe it's just not for everyone but we should not critisize people just because they make a bad reveiw, we are bigger than that, do not show that we are a petty type.

Orchard Road is way overrated. It's no big deal compared to the malls and shopping districts in other (SEA) countries.

As a Singaporean, born and bred here, there are only 2 things i dislike and can never ever get over with it: Weather and a boring country. Everything else is good.

@@limbehh8494 its amusing you assume i have not done that. I am a regular cyclist, been doing RI for decades. And been to the nature parks every week. I mean what else can you do? in fact when you do it regularly, it becomes boring. and I thought you would suggest me something less mainstream.
