I think the Barcarolle as a concept is conclusive to this piece of music in that it is to map musically a < navicella > on the water, as it is being moved up and down smoothly by the waves and the winds in between the beats are evidently to picture this, as the strings do give the metrum by the onbeat-pizzicati, while the key is, I think, D-Major... ...both Sopranos are by the way such a beautiful example of Mum Simones < synergize >, as another would be the binary concept of < sarin-gas >... ...but that being quite a negative example I stay with the music... Somewhat self-indulgent. How can one properly conduct and suddenly ignore the orchestra to go off and sing? Yes, I know it's th LSO and it should be able to take care of itself. That's what I mean by self indulgent. Mezzo - quite nice but, again, the entrance bit? REALLY? It seems that many (thankfully not all) care LESS about the music and more about the performance. This was Offenbach leaning toward Taylor Swift style and will be forgotten just as quickly. What next? AUTOTUNE PAVAROTTI?
Snobbery 101 taught by Dave M!! it's entertainment and very good entertainment... and yes the LSO can take care of itself...they must have discussed this prior to the performance...duh!!!
